This seems more about Shawntel breaking away from her family and claiming her own future than if she ends up with Brad. So, this might end well for her, even if she doesn't end up with Brad. That could also be why she laid him out on the table. She doesn't want him as much as she needed to have this chat with her dad. So Brad can leave now.
