Does anyone know if you can text other people you meet from the DCL app? Or just your family?

Yup you can. I don't remember how you add them off the top of my head but yes (I believe it displays a "chat number" for you that you can give to other guests and they can give them that # and they add you as a contact.) You can also text from the Wave phones (but if you do, make sure to delete your messages from those phones. We've heard reports of them not wiping them between cruises and having some interesting reading lol)

On our last cruise our grand daughter was always texting young people she met in the 18 20 club. It worked great for them in deciding where to meet.

If you are using the DCL app on your smart phone, yes, you can chat with others. Once on board, be sure to get your user #, it's not hard to figure out in the app, give it to others and make sure to get theirs.

Yep! You just need to get their "number" that the app assigns them and you can text anyone on your sailing!

I don't think the chat numbers are tied with your room. Our chat numbers carried over from our cruise last year to this year, so my husband and I were already connected. If they were tied with your room that wouldn't have worked, since we were in different rooms.
