We are getting these little black ants coming into our house via a vent in the floor.

We had this problem a couple of years ago and I got a receipe from someone for a homemade bait, but now I can't find it anywhere and noone else remembers it either.

I remember it had boric acid in it, and sugar I think. You mixed them together with water maybe, soaked it up onto cotton balls and then placed it where the ants would get to it and bring it back to the nest.

The last time I did this it worked overnight... literally. We were getting infested with them, I put it down and starting the next morning we never saw another ant again...until last week

So.... does anyone have this receipe?? My MIL gave me a similar one that uses molasses and yeast, but it didn't work for long.. they went away for a day, but were back again.

Ok, I have a dumb question....

Boric acid - can I use Borax laundry booster? I never tried this but I'd like to. If not where do I buy boric acid?

Two other things for you to try......

Put a bay leaf where they tend to go. They do not like bay leaves. You have to make sure it is out of sight if you have little kids at home.

Secondly, ants won't cross chalk lines. If you know where they are coming in put a line of chalk around the area and they won't cross it.
