Okay, we were on sight, but decided to spend our first day in Orlando at: GASP Islands of Adventure!!!! Yep, we rented a car for a day from national right at the Dolphin lobby and off we went to IOA.
We had purchased our tickets on line and just needed to pick them up at the ticket kiosk. It was a slick procedure, no wait and we were in the park by 9:00. We had also bought the Kodak cameras that had the cards for the express ticket booklet and so we stopped at Guest Relations to pick those up. We only used one, and that was my DH on Dueling Dragons.
All I can say about the roller coasters at IOA are: "AHHHH" I felt light headed and claustrophobic after Hulk, DH loved it enough to ride it 3 times.
I loved Spiderman and we went on that several times. The 3-d effects are amazing. I highly recommend this ride.
Jurrassic Park and Ripsaw Falls were a nice wet break from the hot sun we encountered.
But, and I hasten to mention, Dueling Dragons won DH heart. If he could have, he would have queue up there the remainder of the day. Too bad he was hungry, or I might never have gotten him away from there.
The most tame ride in the park: Seuss carousel caused me the most pain, as I hoisted my leg over the back of the character only to smack it hard on the tail of the creature. All I could do is smile and say, "Ouwie, ouwie, ouwie"
We left the park around 3:00 to go to the outlet mall. I thought I could save money if we shopped there first. I did save some money, but the pain and agony to get to the mall has me in the mind frame to just buy at WDW. Happy anniversary it was not as we made a 6 minute commute to the mall a 40 minute search adventure.
After shopping we returned to The Dolphin and walked to the Boardwalk to have dinner. Big River Grill was empty, so we took a table outside and enjoyed the people riding the covered bikes and the individuals walking around and entertaining those on the Boardwalk. The food was okay, they were out of the two types of beer DH ordered. So I would probably give it a B-/C+ grade.
We finished the night by riding the Friendship boat to the Beach and Yacht clubs, Epcot and back to the Dolphin. We were able to catch a glimpse of Illuminations from the boat, so it truly was a magical way to end a busy day.
