The Angelini's are Live from the French Quarter!

So after a short veg out period (and snooze for Mike!), we got dressed for Mothers Day dinner at 1900 Park Fare. We took a bus to MK and the monorail to the Grand Floridian.

...waiting for the bus.

Dinner was a large buffet with Cinderella, Prince Charming, her stepmother, and stepsisters.

I have to say, the savory part of the buffet was delicious, but the desserts were not very good at all, which surprised me.
image.jpg
I had the everything mashed potatoes (yummy), prime rib (tasty), caprese salad (good but average), chicken Marsala (ok), fried ravioli (yum!), green beans (good), potato salad (ok), green salad (good), and fruit (fine).
image.jpg
I also had the famous strawberry soup, which was probably my favorite part of the meal--my daughter devoured hers!
image.jpg
For dessert I ad the apple crumble (ok), chocolate mousse (yummy), and carrot cake (meh). I also had a cannoli (meh), brownie (yuck--how can you mess this up?!). My hubby had the same take on it. Overall though we enjoyed the meal and the characters.

My personal princess!

So so happy to hear how much you are liking POFQ!! I can't wait to be there!! I wish you could make the 4th FP+ from your phone...sigh...I guess just another way of Disney trying to make it look like they are giving you another perk only...you have to go wait in line for it...sigh. Oh well..you seem to have done well with the time!!
Yes I thought we got a lot done despite the heat and all. Just wish they had this fast pass business smoothed out better!

The everything mashed potatos sound tasty! I'm sorry the desserts weren't fantasic...sigh...

So after we put the kiddos to bed, hubby ran to th food court for....

Beignets! These were sooo delicious! Mike and I pulled our chairs outside the room to enjoy them.

This morning we quickly had breakfast in the room and then headed to Epcot. We had fast passes for Turtle Talk with Crush first, which the kids really liked. Then we rode the Seas with Nemo, and explored the aquarium.

After that we headed over to see this guy...

I haven't done this attraction since I was a kid, and. I quickly realized my kids had never seen it. They had a lot of fun with exploring the area the ride drops you off in.

It's pretty hot today and everyone was getting worn already so we decided on an early lunch at the Electric Umbrella. No pics, I just forgot to be honest. The kids had standard kids meal hamburgers, I had the flat bread, which was good enough, and hubby had the chicken Caesar salad--an unprecedented move for him, as he almost never chooses to eat a salad.

After lunch, we had our last fast passes for Test Track. We haven't ridden it since they changed it and we really a enjoyed all of the changes they made to it. Great ride for sure. After the ride, the kids explored the pavilion...

Throughout the morning, the kids absolutely loved the fountain that is set to music and will get you wet, so much so we went over there several times. At this point we decided to head back to the room to rest, as my son was heading toward meltdown city. When we got back, cast members at the door gave the kids bead necklaces and coins to toss in the fountain and make a wish,...

Then we went up to our room. Hubby ran out to get something to surprise the kids with.....

More beignets! Yum! They loved them of course.

I love the idea of sneaking beignets after the kids are in bed lol...I would totally do that lol Sounds like a good day at Epcot!!

Did you go upstairs at Columbia Harbor House? It's usually much quieter up there--I think some people don't even know there's a second floor!

I'll second the Staples water thing. We did it last year and it worked great! Although I have heard they now have cases in some of the resort gift shops at reasonable prices. If you happen to be in the shop at all could you let us know?

We LOVE POFQ and can't wait for our return trip this August!
Ok, so the gift shop carries 24 pack of 12oz Dasani--not the regular large size 16oz bottles. They are $6.30 each. So Staples with the free shipping is still a better deal.

Yes, we so needed a few quiet mommy/daddy moments! It was nice and relaxing.

After a short rest, we squeezed onto a PACKED bus and went back to Epcot for dinner at...

What great atmosphere this restaurant has. We actually felt like we weren't at WDW. Our waiter, Javier, was so friendly and attentive, the best service we've had in a while. While looking over the menu, Javier brought us these...

The milder green salsa was very tasty. Finally, Mike and I decided on....
image.jpg
The carne asada which included Mexican rice, retried black beans, cheese enchilada, and guacamole. This was absolutely delicious and our best meal so far by a mile. Would order again in a heartbeat.
My daughter had...

The kids cheese quesadillas with Mexican rice and green beans. She really liked it, especially the green beans. My son had the kids chicken tacos, but I didn't get a pic of that. We decided to forgo dessert to see what we could find in world showcase.
One more pic of the atmosphere...

Highly recommend a visit here!

After dinner, we walked around world showcase. My daughter got chocolate caramel covered marshmallows from Germany (yum!), and my son and I got chocolate gelato from Italy (even yummier!). I also got a glass of Rosa a Regale from Italy, one of my favorites, and hubby got a beer from the smokehouse at American Adventure, Alas, no pics of the snacks.

The kids managed to stick it out and we watched illuminations. We then walked over to Beach Club who hailed us a cab back to POFQ--a$15 cab ride enabled us to skip the crazy bus crowds--would do that again in a heartbeat as well!

Last night while the kids were on the pool I wanted to surprise them and I decorated our windows. I wasn't prepared to do 2 windows, so I just made do:

Sorry the pics aren't great.

That's it for tonight. Putting the kiddos to bed now...they had quite a busy day and it was very hot and more humid than yesterday, so they are tuckered out.

Thank you so much for checking!! Sounds like you're having a wonderful trip so far!

What a great day!! The caramel chocolate marshmallows sound divine!! Also - good call on the cab at the end of the night. I may have to remember that. It's funny, when everyone is rushing for the busses and you are in the Disney "bubble" sometimes you forget that there are other options!
