The Amish Amaze me

In case anyone's interested... the author is Beverly Lewis, and the series is called Abram's Daughters. There are 5 books in the series:
The Covenant
The Betrayal
The Sacrifice
The Prodigal
The Revelation

I found them all in my local library.

I was wondering the same which ones you had read. I may have to get those.

I too, live among the "Old Order Amish" here in NE Indiana. Wonderful people. All they ask is to live and worship the way they want in peace.

Yes. I am from Fort Wayne. My folks live NE of Fort Wayne now in the Leo-Grabill area - Amish Country. (My mom lived in Bluffton as a child, BTW). Just a really great community. Surprisingly, as "conservative" as the Amish are, they are among the least judgemental folks I've ever met. Very much into the "grace".

The AMISH are amazing people. Right after the deaths of the girls WHO were NOT taken to area hospitals...the ones that were dead upon Police entering the schoolhouse...those little girl's Mothers all sat down and started making their burial dresses. OMG.

I also heard that the Mothers were embalming their own daughters and while doing the embalming encouraged all the young children around them to take comfort, to say your goodbyes, to be brave and to forgive all. OMG.

AND for the Amish to openly state that they will pray for the killers family must make the Roberts' family feel so much comfort. OMG.

If you think about it, Mr. Roberts will (no doubt) go down in history as probably the worst killer in PA history. How does HIS family even get beyond THAT....

That is the diffference between someone being filled with Grace and someone searching for it. JMHO

Thanks for posting. I just went to my local library's website & reserved the first book. Our county wide system only owns one copy. Luckily, it was available.

I understand reaching out to the Roberts family. But I still can't wrap my mind around forgiving Roberts himself. I don't know that I could ever do that.

Not sure I could either. Although I know that forgiveness is just as much a gift to the giver as the receiver. I would hope that I could get to that point because I know that hatred would just eat at my soul.
