Like maybe Bill and Hilary Clinton? Could you imagine them begging after coming in last in a non-elimination leg?

Can I just tell you...I'm :rotfl2: at the thought of them racing around looking for El Rey de los Havanas cigar shop!! :rotfl:

Did anyone else think that Uchenna and Joyce were having problems getting money at the airport because they are African American?

I agree with you. I've never seen another team have so much trouble begging for money. I hope those people recognize themselves and feel ashamed.

I'm also happy that U/J won.

My take on U/J begging for money in the airport, is that they went about it the wrong way. They went over and started telling them their names and life story, which right away will tip the person off they're going to ask for money. I think had they just went up and said, we're in a race, we need money to get to our next destination, they may have had better luck. Granted it's not easy to beg for money, I have trouble asking a friend for a dollar if I'm short on cash. I think U/J gave the people too much time to think about it. When asking for money, you really can't give anyone too much time to think about it. So, I really don't think it had anything to do with them being African-American.

My take on U/J being let on the plane is just plain luck. Like others have said, I can't imagine CBS would take a risk like that and get involved. Also, I don't think there would have been enough time for CBS to get involved. The plane was getting ready to pull away. Remember there is also editing involved. It looked like the jet way was pulled back for a while, but maybe while it was being pulled back, that was when the agent was talking to the pilot and then the jet way was immediately pushed back, but the editing made it look otherwise. Also, it looked like they did not have tickets, maybe they did and it was edited out. I think if there was anything fishy going on, Rob would have been all over it. I saw Good Morning America and Rob seemed fine with them being let on the plane. (when I say "fine", I mean he didn't seem to think it was fishy)

As far as U/J asking for money at the end to pay the cab driver, I would love to know if they had to per the rules. I can't believe they would risk losing the million to pay the guy right then and there, when they knew they could easily pay him in another 10/15 minutes. I know there have been instances where people refused to pay, but that was after the cab driver changed the fare on them. This driver was not trying to screw them out of money, so I wonder if they had to pay him in order to cross the finish line. If anyone knows they answer, please share :flower:

Good call! Bill and cigars, hmm.....

Frankly, I thought the ending was nothing but a bunch of made-for-tv BS. They had way too many things to bunch the contestants back up last night. If not for that, the "race" wouldn't have even been close.

If you're going to call it a "race" then let them actually race !!! Don't stop them all every freaking leg to make sure everyone catches up. It isn't fair to the people that win the previous leg, and isn't punishing enough to the people that come in at the back of the pack (not last, just near the back). I don't mind actual tasks that take a while. But bunching them up just so you can get an exciting finish for tv is just crap, in my opinion.

Oh, and to the Rob and Amber haters....If it had been them that got on the plane after the doors had shut, this thread would be nothing but conspiracy theory after conspiracy theory.

I was wondering the same.........the rules just may be that way--you can't continue on w/o fully paying your fare. I did hear Joyce say "the cabbie said we're good"...so, they must have to get some kind of confirmation to let them go. DH too said they shouldn't allow "everyone to catch up". Worked out well if you had a flat tire -- not your fault, shouldn't cost you $1mil.....but, I see the point...it is Amazing RACE!!
FWIW: ANY woman who shaves all her hair off on national TV, deserves to win $1million....IMHO. Hope it helps them have their baby!!

You know, I was thinking something through this whole race, but didn't want to say it because of all the controversy over Romber. I, personally, do not like them. Not at all. I have read over and over that people so respect and admire how they treat each other, which I agree with. They are very nice to each other (I'll reserve my further comments on that one.) Today on the early show, Uchenna made a comment that backed up what I had been thinking all along. When they asked U/J what they meant last night when they said they had been having problems and had been on the verge of separation, Uchenna said that he was laid off and they had financial problems. That, from my expereince, is the root of many relationship problems. Many people argue, fight, get divorced over financial issues. Rob and Amber have never had to have a relationship with any worries. It's all been TV, lots of money, fame, vacations, commercials, fun, weddings, etc... They have never had to struggle, support each other, wonder how bills were going to get paid, etc... I think the majority of america would have a great relationship if put into those same circumstances. It's hard not to be kind and sweet and loving when you have no worries.

PS- I am NOT saying money buys happiness, so please don't flame me. I'm just saying that it can make a relationship less stressful and more happy and fun.

(Putting on my flame suit nice and tight ;) )

::yes:: I agree, I was very disappointed with the bunching in Puerto Rico, I don't think that should've occurred on the final leg of the race.

I completely agree with you. I kept thinking that throughout the whole race. R/A never got stressed because really what did they need to stress about. Did they leave jobs behind? Doubt it. Did they have to worry about bills and rent? Nope. Their entire relationship has been built on the fantasy of reality TV. We'll see how long it lasts. Frankly, I don't really care and I hope their TV life is over with finally.

Are you kidding? As I've posted elsewhere after the wedding there'll be the show about their baby and then it's going to be a real version of "The Truman Show". I'm sensing the imminent arrival of the Apocalypse.

I don't think so. I've seen others not have enough money to pay their cabs in fullin other seasons. They basically just said "I'm sorry.... yada yada..." to the driver and left.

Weren't Jonathon & Victoria wealthy? I see your point, but as competitive as both Rob & Amber are, I still think it says a lot about their relationship that they did not argue/get frustrated or upset with each other during the race.

It was the first finale I can remember watching of the AR where I didn’t mind if any of the final 3 teams won.

I was very pleased with last night’s finale. I am glad the U & J won. They were good racers and they treated each other kindly. It took a while for me to “connect” with them, but in the end I did. I hope they get the family they want so badly. I have to admit that I was surprised when Uchenna said that they had been considering divorce. They seem to be a very well matched and supportive couple. I’m sure the financial stress they were previously under didn’t help things.

I don’t hate Rob and Amber—actually I very much enjoyed watching them run the race and do think they brought it to a whole new level. I’m not saying I agree with every sneaky thing they did, but they didn’t break any rules. I think that the next season of AR will have some more sophisticated racers who took notes from R & A. I also like how they treat each other well. I could be wrong, but they do seem to truly care about each other. I realize that they’ve had a pretty easy relationship, but I think they know one another very well and are a good compliment to each other’s personality. I’m happy with the place they finished in.

I’ve seen several posts where people mentioned that they like Kelly but can’t stand Ron. I feel the exact opposite. To me, Ron was honest with Kelly that he didn’t want to get married (which makes a lot of sense given that he has already been married once and has a child). She just didn’t want it to end, which I can understand as well. Ron wasn’t always nice to Kelly, but I thought that she was much meaner to him. I guess I’m specifically thinking of the POW comment and the stupid redneck comment. Ron actually amuses me. Oh well, to each his/her own. I think that they are both better off without each other. They just weren’t compatible relationship-wise.

At first I wondered if the plane thing was fixed, but I really don’t think so. Also, I think the bunching up they do with the teams is to make sure it’s a close finish. They’ve done that in AR for as long as I can remember. I’m actually glad they do it to keep the race close.

I disagree. We were already through that with TTWSNBN when they barely made it onto the flight in Africa (?). People agreed then, as they agree now, that the AR producers don't pull any strings to help a particular team make a flight.

I must have missed the threads where people said they didn't like Ron. I think he's a great guy. It seemed really clear to me that Kelly is the one who is emotional and says mean things. She'd call him stupid first and the get insulted when he said it back. She just seems really self-centered. Then again, I do appreciate the editing involved...maybe she is a nice person. :confused3

I, for one, don't think Ron is a great guy. I think he gave as good as her got in that relationship. There was always something a passive/agressive about him while Kelly was so agressive/agressive she stuck out.

I agree that Kelly has been on my last nerve for a while now, but a few things Ron said last night really grated on my nerves and made me realize why she says the things to him that she does (not excusing comments such as the POW one.) He said repeatedly that he didn't want to have to deal with emotions and he never has to deal with crap like that with his soldiers. Throughout the race he kept comparing his relationship with Kelly to the military and that annoyed me. If you are going to have the same expectations for your girlfriend that you have for soldiers in the army then I think you should really be single. If he always acts like that to her, then I can see why she has a little resentment for his role in the military.

Oh, and if I hear them tell each other to 'shut up' one more time...ugh...how cruel to tell someone you 'care about' to shut up.

I'm not really sure about that, but even if they were, it's not the same. They had jobs, they weren't on TV every 5 minutes, they didn't have endorsements coming out of their ears. They probably had to work hard for what they had, therefore causing stress, although I don't think there is any excuse for how they acted.

I couldn't stand Rob from the first "Survivor", hated both of them on "Allstars", and didn't watch this season of AR because I was good and sick of them. To all of you saying how great they got along...think about it...CBS wants to sell their wedding show, do you really think they're going to show arguments and snippy comments ? The beauty of editing !!! And as a final comment...do you really think that Amber would have had to have her head shaved ? Really, really, doubt it.
