The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

I don't remember this but dh said that rob had a horrible time with the food challenges on survivor. something about fish? whatever, it was a brilliant move on Rob's part.

It was in the second episode of Survivor Marquesas. In order to grab the coveted Immunity Idol, the teams have to scarf down Fafaru, a Marquesan delicacy. raw fish, fish bones, crab legs and lobster legs marinated in sea water, then left out in the sun for three days. Neleh beat Rob in the last attempt, as Rob barfed the fish up.

Still, Survivor was about not getting enough food. Amazing Race is about too much food. Four pounds of meat is a lot to eat.

I am not really fond of Rob but I do get tired of the lets get them mentality. However, what I really really like about this season so far is that the order gets switched around constantly and you never really know who is going to be ahead at any given time. Way to go Uchenna because he actually ate the stuff rapidly.

I agree. However, I think Rob is playing one heck of game and he's extremely entertaining. But what I'm not seeing is Amber's input. Exactly what is she doing??? Also, as far as the boyfriends go, I'm sure it's all editing and they're not spending all their time complaining (Or maybe they are) ;) about Rob and Amber. I stll like them and I do hope they won something for coming in first, even if we didn't hear it. I also like how it's still pretty much anybody's game. I won't miss the older couple or the mom and son team. I find them both annoying.

They could of won a prize, but because of time restraints and editing, the viewers did not hear it. They did take a long time gloating about beating Rob and Amber on the mat. The prodeucer's probably decided to show that for drama, than to show them winning a trip.

I don't agree. If there was a prize, it would have been mentioned. Otherwise it would have been a missed opportunity for a plug of a sponsor. I'm sure that is expected when they donate the various trips.

I have friends who have watched every episode of every race and are huge fans, but I am an AR Newbie. I started watching solely because of Rob & Amber, and I am addicted! I LOVE this show, and I love Rob and Amber on it! I have to disagree about Rob lying in last weeks episode. What I have noticed about Rob, both on Survivor and AR, is that he is very "literal" in his answers. For example, last week, he when he bribed the security guard he said " don't tell anybody else about the second bus". When the other team spoke to the security guard he said " I'm not allowed to talk to you". The girls confronted Rob and said " Did you tell him not to talk to us?" He said "No, I didn't". Technically, he was not lying, he told him not to tell them about the bus, not to not talk them. That's what you have to watch about Rob, they have to be very specific when they challenge him.

Thank you! I couldn't remember the exacty wording but I knew that technically he didn't lie. :rotfl:

I don't understand you guys that are complaining about Rob and Amber.

I don't understand why you don't understand that we think that Rob is a big jerk.

While I can admire his gamesmanship, I cannot get past the big jerk part and I will never root for him. You can do what you like, but you won't change my mind.

I think Rob and Amber are "really"playing the game and if it happens they may deserve to win, they saved money last night just by not taking the cab to the parking garage and he always seems to bribe someone into taking them somewhere. Personally I don't like "the boys" not because they are gay but because they whine and whine and whine, and I don't care much for the ex POW now if anyone is using some past noterity it's him not so much Rob and Amber, and what is a guy doing with someone who's claim to fame is a beauty pagent contestent? With her whining and complaining she should join forces with "the boys" I just hope the older couple lasts a while longer, although this game is more for the strong, some of the challenges can be tough, it is not all a thought process.

Anyone else catch the fact that the old couple didnt get ANY money for this leg... She was reading the clue, he said there was no money and she shushed him....

I did catch that, but I wasn't sure I heard right. So why didn't they get any money? Everyone else did. Is it possible they got some financial help in the market and took a financial penalty for this leg? It does seem strange.

Rob grew up in the town next to me-I grew up in Easton, he lived in Canton, and he's my brother's age and they've met casually.

My brother's like, oh, he's so full of himself, which cracks me up because my brother's not only the spitting image of Rob (think skinnier tan Survivor Rob but taller and more muscular), he's got that same EXACT kinda sneaky stick it to the idiots attitude. Oh, and yeah, he's got the exact same voice and accent! Hysterical!

Personally, I think Rob's pretty typical of a Southeastern Massachusetts blue collar guy, I find it hilariously entertaining to watch him, but man, that's SO why I moved out of the northeast!

Go Rob and Amber, you're Wicked Awesome!

I noticed that too - but if that's the case how did they manage to get cab fare?

I definatley think rob and amber are taking the race to a new level.

As far as bribing, etc. You have to realize that the culture is very different than in North America. What we see is sneaky or cheating is "business as usual" over there. EVERYTHING is for sale, everything has a price, everything is negotiable. Rob is just smart enough to know that. If the other teams want to continue to play by North American rules, they will continue to lose. However, I don't think it's as prevalent in the European countries so it will be fun to watch Rob change his strategy as the venues change.

Definatley agree with this....bribing is definately the norm in many many contries....I think rob was aware of this and is taking full advantage...

GO ROB AND AMBER

LOL Robinb...you don't have to yell! :teeth:

I'm positive Amber is giving Rob her input...they're just editing that out. She let him do all the talking on Survivor too, and they ended up giving her the million dollars. I still can picture Lex and Kathy boo-hooing about what a bad guy Rob is. Last night I was squealing with delight...I think he's a devious genius! Granted, I'm not playing the game with him, but I find it impossible to dislike him.

And I know I said this before, but after last night it bears repeating. The husband of the mother/son team refused to participate in the AR with his wife, because he knew she would drive him crazy. When they showed her eating in the car, I was really hoping she was going to eat the meat. I don't like them at all!

Amy :)

Rob a jerk? Why - because he's playing the smartest AR game to date? What he has done is step up the playing field on AR. He is completely playing by the rules and is even being much nicer about it than SO many other players in the past. (I'm like others - for those protesting, have you actually watched this game before?) I also love the fact that Rob and Amber still continue to smile at each other, encourage each other, and are truly enjoying themselves. What a breath of fresh air from some of the screaming, humiliating contestants in the past (ie Jonathan and Colin).

I also think the other 2 teams that he convinced to take the penalty (Deena's team and Meredith's team) should thank their lucky stars that Rob suggested it to them. I honestly don't believe either of them would have completed the challenge and could have/would have been eliminated. They owe still being in the race to Rob.

Go Rob and Amber again! Getting the others to take a penalty was a classic!

I definitely think Amber is pulling just as much weight as Rob they just don't show it. They both have to participate in the detours, and she actually completed the first road block, while Rob didn't complete this one. Plus, all the teams left the parking garage at the same time, yet Rob and Amber managed to get to the Yield first. Since she is the Navigator, she must be doing somthing right. Plus, I am sure (just like on Survivor) that Rob and Amber discuss their strategies in private and they edit all that out. She isn't dumb, she let Rob take the heat in Survivor and she can save face here too.

I think Meredith was joking about not getting any money and Gretchen shushed him. He seems like a jokester at times.

Lynn and Alex need to stop whining, even if it is editing. Enough all ready!

In the first couple of seasons, they sometimes gave digital cameras to the first place teams, instead of trips. But they always gave something from Season 2 on. Just seems strange that nothing was rewarded last night.

IMHO, Rob broke no rules, he didn't hurt anyone and believe me, the others were just mad they didn't think of it!

Rob, in my opinion, is really the first person to actually play the game and not simply race from one thing to another. I wish others would start thinking too. I always said if I was on this show, I would always beg for money during the breaks so that way I could always pay people to help me get to places faster.

BTW, I would always learn the following words in spanish, german, russian, chinese, japanese (I already know french):

drive faster
for more money
where is
do you know how to get to . . .
please
thank you
help

can anyone think of any others?

I don't care how good of a game he is playing. I don't like him and I think he's a jerk.

Yes. I have watched the show since 2001 and they had to edit out the Twin Towers in NYC because the race ended at the Statue of Liberty before 9/11/01.

What does that have to do with the way I feel about Rob and Amber?

PS everyone ... sorry for yelling. It seems that the Romber Fan Club  just doesn't get it.

Coming to different conclusions given the same information - makes the world go round! :flower: I completely respect your opinion.

I get it completely. You don't like how they are playing the game. That's fine, but, as I said before, they are not breaking any rules and it is a game to win, not something to make friends with. And to those who are saying he's cheating, since he hasn't broken any rules - how can you say that?

I agree how can you not like Rob. He's funny, smart and a little coniving but come on people it's a GAME. He knows how to play. I must admit this is my first time watching AR and it was soley because of Rob & Amber. They make great TV.

I love how Amber said (after rafting) that was a good work out after all I need to fit into a wedding dress soon. I'd love to see their wedding. They never fight - what a breath of fresh air. I can't stand the dating couple and the mother/son- too much whining and fighting.

GO ROB & AMBER

I 110% agree with you!!!!!!!

I'd love to see a little Rob and Amber disagreement. No couple is that compatible when it comes to this high pressure, high stress stuff. ;) :teeth:
