The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

I am pretty sure Potter's field refers to any cemetary or part of a cemetary where people with no money and/or no family are buried. They basically just put them in a plain pine box, dig a hole and put them in.

also - from previews - didn't Amber take a digger? falling at one point?

wasn't there a spoiler about someone hurting their ankle on the Rob/amber team?

I remember reading something about Rob breaking his foot. But, then I also read that Gretchen broke his foot in the elephant challenge, so I wonder if the spoiler named the wrong person?

Now that they are eliminated, perhaps we can finally get their names right! Meredith is the man, Gretchen is the woman. Meredith broke a bone in his foot with the elephant task ( Gretchen was on top screaming about the BAAAAADDDD elephant, remember!) and Gretchen told Uchenna that nobody could help them with the boats.

Dang it, I knew I was going to do that! LOL

Hmmm, I really did think it was Meredith (the man) who told Uchenna no one could help them. I forgot all about Meredith's (the man) foot being broken, too. Thanks for the reminder. :)

Rob had the root canal problem which they delayed the departure from a pit stop so he could have it taken care of.

Or maybe she just read her Bible. The potter's field was purchased with the money Judas Iscariot received for betraying Jesus and used as a burial place for foreigners. See Matthew 27:7

Of course, that is where all other references to a Potter's Field derive from. I can't speak for the other poster, but I was being facetious.

Hi guys! I watched the episode last night.

I'm getting tired of TTWSNBN use of a Local Guide. The guide answered all the riddle questions for them and let them to each clue. It went beyond asking for help into having someone else do the Roadblock for you. Remember when Meredith waved off Uchenna's help? "You can't help us!" he said. Uchenna can't help steady a boat for M&G, but TTWSNBN can get someone to solve all their riddles. It just doesn't seem right to me.

ITA.

I think teams should be able to ask questions, but do not think they should be able to invite the person to come along and be their "personal guide".

An aside for CBS to think of - each time TTWSNBN asks (tells) their guide to ride with them, what would happen if there were an accident and the "guide" got hurt. Do they sign releases as they are now part of the show? The liability issues could be major.

Also TTWSNBN are recognized in some countries due to their Survivor stint - and therefore IMO it is easier to convince a guide to help. This happened a couple of times this season. I think this gives a edge.

It's not stated in the rules that they cannot have a guide - so be it. But I think the rules should be changed for future AR's.

Any one of the teams could ask locals for help. They just don't all the time :confused3 If I was in the race I would be asking everyone I could find :smooth:

There are so many things I would change about all these show (Amazing Race, Survivor and American Idol) if I could. For AR, especially, I'd make the challenges exclusively dependent on learning aspects of the culture. I have a hard time reconciling the logic of physical challenges when there is no physical criteria imposed on applicants.

I do think that AR benefited from Romber -- a lot of people watched just to see if they'd lose. I don't see much of a backlash developing, though that might change if they win.

::yes::

On a side note - G & M live in the same development as my grandparents! They live in The Villages, FL - about an hour north of WDW. Apparently, G & M had viewing parties every Tuesday night at one of the club houses. We were visiting my grandparents recently and G & M were all over The Villages newspaper.

Yes, G's whining really was awful - but I give them tons of credit for getting as far as they did.

Oh my goodness! My parents live there!

Finally watched tuesdays episode tonight and found myself yelling at the TV(again)..The 1st person at the pit stop the last 2 weeks didn't get crap...

Just seemed unfair how Joyce & Uchenna didn't get any trips or anything when they were 1st...

Same here, but there's no guarantee that we would get that help. There's no guarantee that Romber would get help either, but their chances are greatly increased by being internationally known for their Survivor stints.

More than once, Romber has had no problem finding someone to help them, and in at least one case (the African market), help was offered before they even had to ask because of who they were. I don't begrudge them this help, because the rules allow it. IMO though, it could taint a victory if they win. Kind of like finding out Barry Bonds was most likely on steroids when he hit 70 homers.

In future I would like to see either no celebrity contestants, or all celebrity contestants, or a rule restricting help from locals, on future ARs.

The clue card specifically said nobody else can help stacking the boats where as it does not say you can'e enlist a guide to help you.

Rob and Amber will win tommorrow easily and everyone will be annoyed (except me). Go ROMBER!!!!! :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc  :cool1: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I agree...I think it's part of the game knowing how to ask for help and integrate into the culture of the people. It's not only Romber...I recall several all-girl teams play the "cute blond damsel in distress card" to get help from the locals.

It's been a great season of AR. Any word on when the next one starts?

i like romber and uchenna/joyce....as long as one of them wins i will be happy...mainly because they have both been the most supportive of each other throughout the race...both teams have proved that teamwork really gets you somewhere...

i am very tired of ron and kelly...the lipstick was gross...i kinda hope she catches something for her vanity  They fight WAY too much and i hope they come in 3rd place...

it looks very interesting!

I don't know if this has been posted before, but teevee.org has posted a fake Rob & Amber blog called the "Romber Room" here. It absolutely hilarious, especially to non-fans of Romber.

Here's Amber's one contribution:
Rob asked me if I would take care of today's post by listing some of my tips for succeeding at whatever you try. I told him, "Anything you say, Rob!" so here goes.

Um...

Uh...

OK...

Do whatever Rob tells you.

The end.
Make sure that you click on the Comments link on Rob's posts.

My guess for tonights outcome U/J then R/K and last is R/A this is my guess and I hope I am right.

Rob & Amber and Uchenna & Joyce are already winners in my book based on how they've played the game. I'll be happy with either of them in 1st place. I just hope its not Ron & Kelly. Maybe they'll be too busy arguing to run a fast race!

In the commercial when Amber says she's too exhausted to run and Rob carries her it looks like she's wearing a swimsuit. I wonder if there's some water challenge she's just finished when that scene takes place.

Every time I think about tonight's episode I'm so excited!!!
