The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

Also, while in hind sight it would have been smarter to yield U/J, I think R/A did the right thing. Even though they were pretty sure they were ahead of the other two teams, they didn't know for sure (remember last week, anyone?). So, they yielded the closest competition they knew the exact whereabouts of, R/K. .
.

Actually since everyone's picture was still at the yield they know they were ahead of everyone.
Once a team gets to the yield & if they choose not to yield they take their picture off the board so no one can yield them. You can ONLY yield to those teams behind you.
R/A knew U/J were behind them since U/J's picture was still there.
I don't think Rob thinks they are that much of a threat.....I am crossing my fingers they prove him wrong next week :teeth:

I think not yielding U/J will come back to haunt Rob and Amber. They pretty much know where the other teams are based on the clues in the boxes. I also believe when you get to the yield box you pull a number off. So, Rob and Amber knew they were the first team there. I believe if U/J were yielded they would have been eliminated, because I don't believe they were too far ahead of G/M. It would have been better for Rob and Amber to have G/M in the top three. Leaving just R/K as pretty much their only competition. I say that not to slight G/M, but in the last leg it's every team for themselves and I just don't think G/M would have had what it would take to win.

We wondered this too :rolleyes2 :crazy2:

Sure seems like it...

I am so glad M&G are out. I swore if they were in it next week I wouldn't watch. We were surprised they did brawn.

I am still hoping for U & J .

Is it just me or do they give out a prize whenever Rob & Amber come in first?

Oh no, I don't think the workers listen to Rob as often as we are led to believe. But he is still playing dirty. We do know for a fact that the bus driver didn't open the back door when Rob told him not too!

Rob actually paid him to not open the back door with 2 other teams money so he wasn't alone in that one. Sneaky for him to keep his own money though.

I am rooting for Rob & Amber. I just don’t like Ron & Kelly and their little lovers spats are so annoying. I hope Rob & Amber take First, J&U Take second and Ron & Kelly finish third. That’s what would make me happy.

About the lipstick, that was so gross and so vain. I guess as someone said, she MUST have great stage presence, because she doesn’t have the inner beauty or physical beauty going for her. Sorry if that is mean.

Again, agreeing that hindsight is 20/20, Rob & Amber had no way of knowing how close U/J were to them, but they knew Ron & Kelly had the same 2 hour lead as themselves. Remember how surprised Rob was when he took an hour doing the doubledecker task and no one showed us. Ron & Kelly *could* have passed them if they hadn't taken the taxi. In their exact situation, I would have yielded Ron & Kelly as well. There is no guarentee the timer would have run long enough to allow Meredith to beat Joyce.

Think about it, how did they film that ending in London, someone had to see what was going on, they were in Potters Field across from the London Bridge.

Not to get picky, but that was NOT London Bridge, it is the Tower Bridge. London Bridge is in Arizona (seriously, look it up). And having been to London many times, I can tell you the Underground is very easy to figure out, even for a first timer. M & G definitely should have done that detour instead of the boats.

I'm to the point where I'll be happy with either R & A or U & J. I wonder if everyone was willing to ask for help from locals if they would get it. I someone came through Houston running AR, I'd be more than happy to take them around, just because it would be fun, like I was doing the race to. Wouldn't matter to me if they were famous or not. Would that be a bonus. Depends on who it was. Last AR had that girl from BB and her boyfriend. I would have ditched them quick! I cannot stand her. R & A, I like. Is he constantly acting in the most proper way. No. Do I? No. Is anyone perfect? No, but we just aren't seeing parts of their personalities that we are seeing of other pairs. I love that Rob is consistently nice to Amber and not pulling some of the crap we've seen from previous racers. Joyce shaved her head and for me, she should win a million! I also love that they are racing because they want to get enough money to have children. They have a goal and it isn't just to win more money. So, I'm not sure who I want. I could NOT believe that Kelly had the gall to bring up Ron saying not such nice things to her after her comment last week. UGH! I cannot even imagine saying something like that to someone that has suffered terribly for the freedom of innocent people. Either she is a complete idiot or just a horribly spoiled person. Either way, he needs to dump her. I've seen enough of her to last a lifetime.

That is too cool that Gretchen and Meredith live in the Villages in Ocala, FL! My aunt and uncle live there—I’ll have to ask them if they know G&M.

As far as the episode goes, I’m glad G&M were eliminated because I think that will make it be a closer finale. The finale almost always comes down to a footrace, and we all know that G&M wouldn’t have won then. Having the 3 teams in the finale that are in it will keep it more exciting.

I love U & J, but I also really like Ron (not Kelly though). He did say some snarky things to Kelly on the episode, but I think he’s just fed up with her, and I can’t blame him for that. I’m sure he is to blame with some of the stuff that goes on (there are 2 sides to every story), but she seems to be pretty difficult to handle. Of course, they may just be editing it that way.

Rob and Amber ran another great leg. I think they’ve definitely got what it takes to win, but I have a feeling that U & J will win.

I don't see how you can say that Rob is being sneaky. Should they share all the information they get from being friendly and talking to locals? Should they share the information they get from actually **Gasp** researching things? I guess we need to rename the show to the Amazing Love Fest next season.

I wonder what game you Romber fans are watching? Telling people not to pass on information or not allow someone off a bus is not being sneaky? It's one thing not to share infromation, that's part of the game. But to purposely try and put up roadblocks? What do you call that?

And as far as Rob being gracious and all that. Sure, he's gracious when things go his way. What were his comments about India? How about all his little slurs aimed at other contestants. Except for the boyfriends, you didn't hear anybody else insulting Romber.

Sure Rob and Amber are playing a good game, but please take them off that pedestal you seem to have placed them on.

I'm just curious, but is there something in the rules of the game that says you're not allowed to be sneaky ? Rob is playing the game smart, doing everything he can to get an advantage. What's wrong with that, exactly ? Do you people complaining about Rob also complain when a baseball player steals a base ? Or when a football team runs a draw play (only pretending to drop back for a pass ! Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky !!!).

Oh, and I don't blame them a bit for yielding Ron and Kelly. They wanted to finish first, and they knew, because of the flights, that Ron and Kelly were their closest competition. It wasn't out of any imagined lack of respect for Uchenna and Joyce...Rob and Amber were just WAY ahead of them, and knew it. So, where's the problem ? :confused3

Was it just me or when Meredith got in the double decker bus to drive it through the obstacle course did anyone else have visions of Gretchen climbing up and sitting on the top of it and yelling out "Ohhh my Gooddd.. MEREDITH!!! We got A BAD BUSSSSSSS!!!!" (ala the Elephant fiasco ;) )

The problem: by yielding Ron and Kelly, there was still a good chance they would stay in the race. They were in 2nd place with a good 1-2 hour lead on the two teams behind them. If they yielded Joyce and Uchenna, forcing them to yield would of allowed Merideth and Gretchen to get ahead of them and there would of been a better chance of them coming in last, being eliminated from the race. One less strong team Rob and Amber would have to worry about.

But, like Rob said, if it was a non-elimination, they would of wasted the yield. Because Joyce and Uchenna would still be in the race, and so would Ron and Kelly. So the best thing they could come up with, is to try to get a bigger lead on Ron and Kelly, but that does not usually matter, because airports and bus stations are usually a "catch up" point.

She really did look ridiculous up on top of that elephant.

I TOTALLY Agree!!!!!

And, I may have heard incorrectly, but when Rob and Amber were deliberating on the yield, I could swear that Rob said something about U/J being their strongest competition, but that they knew Ron and Kelly were right behind them, so it was the best decision...so I don't think there was ANY lack of respect to U/J because they didn't yield them... And I must add that I find these last three players completely REFRESHING compared to last season's WHINERS and YELLERS- Kendra and Freddie/Johnathan and Victoria and the other team- I can't even remember their names but it seemed his name was "baby" cause that's what she called him every 4 seconds. So nice just to have teams that tackle the missions head on, not put each other down TOO horribly (ahem Kelly), and just play a great game. I'm loving it.

I'm hoping for either a Rob and Amber win or Uchenna and Joyce.

And, FWIW, I also don't think Amber is just Rob's little follower---I think that girl has some brains AND is funny (loved her Sherlock Holmes get-up)---I think if my DH and I were filmed, it would be him mouthing off all the time, showing him making decisions, talking with everyone, but you wouldn't see me in the background, mumbling all these pointers to him. Rob makes for more exciting TV, but I really think Amber contributes A LOT to their team...she's just great at being under the radar.

In reference to Romber buying the two sets of tickets last night, I thought there was some kind of rule that you could only buy one set of tickets since the show pays for them. Otherwise, why would they always be so worried that they were missing a better flight? Why wouldn't they just always buy all tickets available until they came across the best ones? Instead of debating whether or not they should buy the first ones they come to or keep looking.

No, there is no rule that teams can't buy more than 1 ticket. They do so all the time, especially with connecting flights.

I think Rob and Amber have already won.... they have raced as a team... I cant recall any bickering between. They are a great couple. I wish them the best and cant wait to see their wedding!

I must say.... G&M impressed me thought out the race.

Ron and Kelly.... UGH. Tired of watching them fight.
