The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

The guy from the 'on again, off again' couple reminded me of a cross between Jonathon and Bolo.
Kinda clueless (Bolo) and pretty mean (Jonathon) to his partner.
I think so too!! The brothers are good looking too!!! But I am Married... :confused3

Loved the hillbillies. We we so bummed they were gone last night :(
Loved the boyfriends second (we have a friend who reminds me of one of them LOL).

Didn't care for the older couple or the mom/son team after a while :( The two roomies who were over affectionate bugged me.... like they were putting on a show the kisses and such?

The rest are up in the air. :D

Does anyone know if the premier episode is being rebroadcast? I stupidly did not pay attention to the fact that last night's episode was two hours and only taped the first hour.

I was also surprised to find myself rooting for Rob and Amber last night. I liked how they played the game.

I enjoyed last night's episode and I am SO glad that Tuesday nights are fun again! ;)

I was prepared to enjoy Rob and Amber and I hope they go far but not quite all the way to a win. They are doing exactly what I hoped they would do. They seem to be enjoying themselves, not yelling at each other and I am sure they will provide some comic relief.

I really liked the hillbillies and I was so sad to see them go. DH and I were just cracking up over them and I loved how they put subtitles when they were speaking. It was English they were speaking...do people up north not understand them? ;) :rotfl:

I don't really have any favorites yet. This bunch doesn't seem to be the brightest group they have had. I had to wonder how many people had watched the race before. They all made some really strange decisions especially when digging for the plane tickets. Who doesn't look at all 3 times before they dig and who just blindly follows the advice of a competitor?

I can take or leave Romber at this point, but really would have preffered to see some new faces in the 11th slot. I think a better idea would have been to have them on a "Reality All Stars AR". The other teams probably don't like them because they are afraid that Romber will get all the exposure. Keep in mind that people go on shows like this to get noticed (and win a million $).

I like the idea that they are looking for families of four for the next AR. That should be interesting.

I really enjoyed last night's episode!

Here are my thoughts so far…

Debbie & Bianca – they annoy me. They’re just too whiny so far. Also, I agree with everyone else that they seem much more like lovers than like friends. I have a strong feeling that they will “come out” during the race, hence all the editing to show all their affection for each other.

Brian & Greg – I like them so far. They seem very courteous, but I wonder if that’s just a strategy to win friends early in the race. They also seem to have pretty good attitudes so far.

Lynn & Alex – They grate on my nerves a bit. They seem funny, but I think they are hamming it up for the camera a bit much. I don’t think I’ll ever enjoy another gay couple on AR as much as I enjoyed “Team Cha Cha” from back several races ago—they were my favorites. I noticed in their bio on the CBS website that Lynn mentioned that one of the reasons he wanted to do the race was to possibly get married in Amsterdam. I’ll bet that AR goes there for sure this season to see if that does in fact happen.

Megan & Heidi – I didn’t see enough about them last episode to really form an opinion.

Meredith & Gretchen – I agree with whoever said that they aren’t as cute as Don and MJ from the last season. I don’t think they’ll last too long, they don’t seem to have much stamina.

Ray & Deana – I don’t care much for these two. He reminds me a lot of Bolo so far. I looked up their bio and saw that there is a huge age difference between the two of them (he’s 44 and she’s 27). I would’ve never guessed that. She seems older than 27 to me.

Rob & Amber – I don’t watch Survivor, so I’m not very familiar with them yet. He seems like he can be pretty funny and I totally agree that the other teams need to stop focusing so much on what they do and just run the race. I thought it was hysterical that he had so much trouble opening the car truck (I’m sure if I got on AR, I would have something just that ridiculous happen to me).

Ron & Kelly – I love them so far. He seems like such a likeable guy. I didn’t realize it, but he is currently a student at the college I graduated from (University of Georgia). They’ll have to get their heads more in the game if they’re going to win though. I felt bad for them when the other team told them to look in the wrong pile on purpose. I didn’t see that as strategic since the girls were already well in first place—it just seemed rude to me.

Ryan & Chuck – I am really going to miss them! They were so funny! I loved the line about load testing the zip line. LOL!

Susan & Patrick – I like the idea of a mother/son team, so I like them so far. They might get on my nerves though, we’ll have to see. I was laughing so hard when the llamas kept spitting all over them, but they didn’t give up.

Uchenna & Joyce – I’m not sure what I think of them yet. They were very open about wanting to win the money to have more in-vitro treatments to try to have a baby. I was a little surprised that they want the whole world to be aware of their struggles—perhaps they feel that it will help others cope with infertility problems. She is 44, and I’m sure there are many other women that age who would still like to have children.

I'm from up North and I had no problem understanding them. I picked them as my favorite team right off the bat. My husband laughed at me and asked me if it was the backhoe-digger in the promo. I just thought these guys were so everyday people. I was so sad to see them go.

Rob and Amber- the show got so annoying with everyone worrying about them. Phil seemed impressed with them, they came from last to finish 3rd. What did happen in the end, did they get caught in traffic? The 2 girls won, cause she knew the language.

Rob and Amber-smart on Robs part to find someone to help them. They by-passed everyone when all the other teams were stuck in that town and they didn't know which direction to go to find the bus. Any other team could have looked for someone to help them. They all stood around and waited for each other to find a solution. That is how the they all fell behind.

Holy Cannoli - Rob and Amber were the comic relief last night and they worked together well as a team. As a Survivor fan, I wasn't sure how I would feel about them being on AR, but now I hope they go far. Just watching how much some of the other teams feel so threatened by them makes the show more interesting.

Not thrilled with the girls in first place or the mother-son team thus far. The two brothers seem nice, though.

I was one of the ones who wasn't thrilled about Rob and Amber being on the show. So far they haven't done anything unexpected and are living up to their reputations. Rob has street smarts and I do think that will help them go far in the race. I'm keeping an open mind about them.

I saw a clip with Phil yesterday morning (I don't remember where) and he said Ron has what it takes to go far in the race. I don't know if he's hinting any something or not, but that's the only contestant he mentioned in that clip.

I don't dislike any teams at this point and it's too early to root for anyone yet. I'm really sorry the hillbillies left. I thought they would add a lot of comedy to the show. It was sad to see them crying at the end :(.

Can't wait till next week to see what kind of trouble the boyfriends stirred up. I LMAO when they walked out of the market or whatever and called them all b*****s!

Speaking of the boyfriends...I brought this up last night and someone else posted about it this morning, I really thought the boyfriends would receive some kind of penalty for not taking the bicycle rickshaw. They took a little motorized cart. I would think that would have given them a time advantage and didn't follow the rules. Anyone have any thoughts on this??

I think it may have been because they didn't receive a time advantage. They cart dropped them off in a different place and they had to run down a hill to get to the beach, so that may have killed any advantage.

I thought the teams on the 7:00 flight might have been penalized for being allowed on the 7:40 flight. I though they would have had to take thier flight, even if it were delayed.

OK, I was distracted during this part and I thought they did receive a time advantage because whichever team was there when they arrived said "where did they come from?"

I thought the 7:00 team would have to take their delayed flight too. It would have made things really interesting if it had worked out that way.

There weren't any subtitles on mine?? :confused3

Just adding my thoughts so far:

Rob and Ambuh - Sorry, BIG fan of theirs from Survivor, and I haven't seen anything to make me change my mind. Hope they go out and win the whole thing. One thing to remember with them in regards to their teamwork: they've done it before, under equally stressfull conditions. While the situations might be slightly different, nothing that happens should rattle them, since they've probably faced worse.

Mom and Son - Whiny little badword, isn't he ? ;) Didn't mind his mom so much, but the kid got on my nerves.

The "Hillbillies" - Man, did I HATE that they got booted last night. The "load testing" line and (when they picked up the rickshaw and took off running) the "your clear on the high side" (sounded JUST like a Nascar spotter talking to his driver) just cracked me up. :rotfl:

The Boyfriends - Glad I'm not the only one that got a "Nathan Lane in The Birdcage" vibe off the one guy...lol...They're probably my second favorite team now behind Rob and Ambuh.

Interchangeable Blonde Teams - Nice for eye candy, but best to keep the sound muted ;) :rolleyes1

The Brothers - Not my favorite, but they didn't bother me, either. Did think it was funny when they said there wouldn't be any arguments between them "because we're brothers"...lol...As if brothers never fight ::yes::

The POW and The Beauty Queen - Not impressed by them so far. Only reason they weren't eliminated was that they got lucky in their choice of cab drivers.

The Old Farts - "DARN IT" ; "GOSH DARN IT"....etc.

The Black Couple - Didn't mind them too much.

The "Dating" Couple - I didn't think he was that bad, and she was being pretty whiny :) They may turn into Jonathan and Victoria, but they aren't there yet, by a long ways.

(Names not included 'cause I don't know them yet

I also liked Rob and Amber- I think they will play an excellent game. I didn't LOVE them on Survivor, but I think they are a good couple who work well together! It's better than watching some screechy or just plain annoying couple (Jonathan and Victoria, Hayden and Aaron, Freddy and Kendra)- at least for me anyway.

I also liked the black couple and the brothers.

So far I don't really like the son of the mother/son duo- a bit annoying.

Looking forward to next week! Although I may be in labor and not watching it as I'm scheduled to be induced late Monday night...hopefully, I will be holding my new little girl, snacking on some food and watching TAR! :flower:

Aww...Good luck!! Post pics!!

I couldn't stand Rob on Survivor. I wasn't too bothered by him last night. He still thinks he's the best thing since sliced bread and Amber obviously agrees. It was funny when he couldn't get the trunk open.

The "roommates" are annoying. The analyzing, the bickering. How do they stand each other. Then, they are loving and kissing. I think they are playing for the camera right now. Of course the kissing will be aired; ratings, ratings, ratings.

I don't remeber any other mother/son teams. I think it's a nice new dynamic.

When I hear the boyfriends, I think of Jay Leno's roving reporter.

Glad the Hillbillies are gone. The were obnoxious, I'm a redneck and proud of it, attitude.

Ray is a jerk.

Could you belive the older couple had such an easy time herding the llamas. She just kept swatting their behinds.

All in all, I think this AR is better than the last. More "real" people, with the exception of Romber. Not all models looking for publicity.

I'm surprised that I don't find Rob and Amber nearly as annoying as I did on Survivor, but give them time, they may get obnoxious. I think they'll turn nasty or egotistical, or both.

I'm glad the Hillbillies are gone. I like the mother/son team best, so far. I like the older couple, too. The boyfriends may grow on me, but they looked a little obnoxious in next weeks preview.

I really like all the mix of contestants better, so far, than AR6.

I thought it was hysterical that Rob was concerned about getting something to eat and the race had barely begun. Then when they were on the shuttle at the airport, he was already drinking a Diet Coke. :rotfl:

I liked the African American couple and the mother/son team. This looks like it will be a good race.
