The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

I laughed when I heard one of the boyfriends say about Rob in the previews for next week "he should be glad no one can get voted off of here" or something to that effect. :rotfl:

Does anyone know where the race is starting??

Rob/Amber would have an advantage if it is here in the USA!! I think most people would know who they were even if they don't watch Survivor (hard to believe people don't?!!) their faces were on all the magazines and t.v. shows

I would love to do a family AR!!!!!! My DH and I always thought we would do well on the show but would miss our DS for that long!

Check out the CBS website! They are looking for families of four! I don't know the age, but I am sure my kids at the age of 9 and 7 would be too young.

I really liked the hillbillies and I was so sad to see them go. DH and I were just cracking up over them and I loved how they put subtitles when they were speaking. It was English they were speaking...do people up north not understand them? ;) :rotfl:

I think one of the "hillbillies" said he spoke Portugese and could use that to get by in Peru. I'm pretty sure the sub-titles were on when he was speaking Portugese. I could be wrong, though, I was verrrrry tired.

Speaking of the boyfriends...I brought this up last night and someone else posted about it this morning, I really thought the boyfriends would receive some kind of penalty for not taking the bicycle rickshaw. They took a little motorized cart. I would think that would have given them a time advantage and didn't follow the rules. Anyone have any thoughts on this??

I think we may just see they get a time penalty. I recall a few times in different AR episodes, we did not find out a team got a penalty until we saw them leaving the pit stop the next week. It was explained then.

I do believe they deserve a time penalty. If the clue clearly stated they had to take the rickshaw, they did not do that. They were lost, saw the other teams were down there, and just went. They should of had to LOOK for the next part of the clue. (the rickshaw carriages).

No, they got a sub-title at the pit stop, when they were telling Phil how much they enjoyed the race. They were speaking english.

Nope! It was while they were speaking English!! I was LMAO. I was born and raised in the Deep South and I had trouble understanding what they were saying! Kind of like the goat farmer (Tom, I think) on Survivor!

I was thinking they should have a time penalty too. Usually if they figure it out while still racing they have to go back and do it correctly. If they never figure out, they're usually assessed a time penalty. I thought AR was very strict about following the rules particularly when it comes to transportation.

I like the teams that finished 1-5:) I liked the "hillbillies" also-too bad they got kicked off. The 10th couple seems very nice too but they may get walked all over. I think I am rooting for the brothers.

I also think they should get the time penalty. I'm thinking when they leave for the next leg of the race. I did not like Rob & Amber on Survivor, but last night they didn't seem too bad. I don't like the 2 that came in lst. place.

I just read to apply as a family.....it is team members of 4 and you must be at least 8 years old. We only have one DS who will be 9 on Saturday!!!

It also said it could be non-traditional families as well. ie-engaged couple and in-laws, blended family etc. I'm sure we could add a grandparent and be considered a team. You must be willing to travel in June 2005 and be gone for up to 40 days.

GO FOR IT :cheer2:

I think I just found a new show! Last night was the first time I ever saw the AR. I watched because I like Rob & Amber and because of the POW and beauty queen. I was pacing at the end when Ron and Kelly just about lost. I'm glad they made it but I'll miss the hillbillies. I wish the two girls would have lost.

The son from the mother/son team gets on my nerves but everyone seems OK so far. I'm looking forward to watching my new show. I just gave up on the Bachelorette and need something else to watch - was a good choice.

I also don't understand why anyone would trust anyone and why some people already seemed lazy (the digging at the beach...the one couple just started digging at the first spot without even checking the others). Some teams just didn't seem like they were "hustling." It's a race people!!!

Amy :)

I loved when the brothers checked the times and one said "isnt 7:00am BEFORE 7:40am?" and the other one said "yeah-where Im from it is." :rotfl2:

What a great ratings idea from CBS!! I see that AR is getting a lot of Survivor fans to watch. It never occurred to me, but hey, I'm no TV Executive!

I thought it was hysterical that Rob was concerned about getting something to eat and the race had barely begun. Then when they were on the shuttle at the airport, he was already drinking a Diet Coke. :rotfl:

I thought that was hilarious too, esp when he said something about having $132!....I wanted to say, "Calm down Rob...there is a Burger King inside LAX!" But you know, what I liked about him last night was that there were plenty of times he could have gotten frustrated and had a tizzy (like several of the teams were on the last Race), but instead he just kind of laughed at himself or said, "Okay..let's calm down here." (the trunk, the basket falling off his shoulders). I think I am going to be impressed with them and their cool thinking- and I think they HAVE to be extra smart and look for help from people who may recognize them, because obviously a lot of these teams do NOT want them there. So far they act a LOT less conceited than many of the "model" teams that have been on TARs of the past, doncha think?

This is a much better group of contestants than last year! No models, no actresses, which is great. I'm down on the Romber ploy, but everyone else seemed OK to me. I especially liked the three guy teams, and was sorry to see the good ol' boys go. They would have been fun to have around for a while.

I liked the brothers. They've got an appealing surfer/stoner vibe going. I liked when the "ambiguously gay duo" kissed in the airport line, and one of the brothers said something like "Dude! Did you see that!" That was funny. They were also funny when they realized that people had dug up the later tickets and left earlier ones for them.

While the older lady was really irritating, her husband was impressive. The guy is 69 years old, and he struggled less physically than some of the younger people. They were up in the Andes, you know. I hope I'm in that kind of shape when I'm his age. We'll see if he holds up, though.

The website makes it sound like Ray is this year's designated jerk, and they kind of played it up a little last night. But he's a pale imitation of Jonathan and Colin (and Russ and Ian from prior years), at least so far. They barely missed getting on the truck before it left, and he was a little peeved about it. But compare that to how some of the other guys would have acted, and it's no contest.

CBS had promised that this would be the best season so far, and they may be right. Here's hoping!

Well, I had just the opposite reaction, at least in the beginning. When they were driving, the two of them spent a lot of time looking at the camerae, I thought. The rest of the teams seem to talk to each other and not the camera, except in interviews. Those two seemed a little too camera-aware for my taste. But I hate that they're even on the show, so I'm biased.

Someone I work with thinks he did that a strategy, get some sympathy. I hate to think that, after what he went through. I really hope he is sincere. It never dawned on me that he wasn't being sincere.
My DH has the same opinion.

here too, I thought it was hysterical

I noticed in their bio on the CBS website that Lynn mentioned that one of the reasons he wanted to do the race was to possibly get married in Amsterdam. I’ll bet that AR goes there for sure this season to see if that does in fact happen.
That would be a hoot, they crack me up

Okay, I finally watched the whole tape...

I'm not a huge "Rombuh" fan, but I thought they did well last night. I like that they are respectful towards each other and seemed to genuinely be having a good time. I always like those qualities in a team.

Sorry to see the hillbillies go, I thought they'd be great comic relief. I like the brothers--again, they seem funny and easygoing. The gay couple may grow on me, they seem so over the top.

The old couple may struggle--they just didn't strike me as having what it takes. And the invitro couple rubbed me the wrong way--maybe it was just them sayign they were on to win to pay for more invitro. I don't know, that just bugged me, maybe because I would never "announce" something like that publicly. The dating couple (still working on names), I thought he was very rude to the girl. He just kept saying "Suck it up"--it just reminded me of Jonathan. Hey, I know it's a race, but there are positive ways to offer encouragement!

Anyway, those are my thoughts--it's definitely an interesting show (loved the llamas! Just too funny!)
