The Amazing Race 6...Official Thread

Really wanted Jon and Kris to win!! Does anyone know what they are doing currently? Are they still dating long distance? What a class act!!

They were just on The Early Show. They are now living together in Scotsdale, AZ :)

While DH and I wanted Kris and Jon to win, I thought the whole show last night was a pretty good one. I was very excited when Aaron proposed to Hayden, although this morning they said they've pushed the date to 12/06 so he can to go culinary school--she needs to be a little more supportive while he is doing that! Freddy and Kendra are getting married this spring.
I shut the TV off before the previews (I thought I had school today but we had freezing rain w/ snow on top of it, snow day #4) so I didn't see any of the AR 7 contestants. I don't watch other reality shows (I haven't even watched AI this year) so I don't know Rob and Amber. I hope they aren't as obnoxious as Jonathan and Victoria!

I truly believe that if Kris and Jon can run the race they did and still be as strong as they are afterwards that they are going to be together forever. I was so disappointed with Freddie and Kendra winning but it was still a good show.
I have to admit I was almost feeling sorry for Hayden and Aaron during the last leg they were in. They were really put through a lot. I'm still not sure why Aaron wants to marry Hayden and why he would propose on the "worst day of their lives."
If Kendra is so upset by the poverty she saw maybe she should donate some of that million dollars to the villages or orphanages in Africa. Heck, if she wants kids so bad she could even adopt children there. Yeah, we could see that happening couldn't we?
I would love to see Kris and Jon both get some sort of offer. I hope they do get something for coming in second but I haven't heard. I wish them all the luck in the world!!

Has anyone started a new thread yet? If not, I'll go ahead.

I didn't participate in this thread this time because I knew I wouldn't be able to keep up but what a show last night. I have one question though and this may also fall under "creative editing". The week that Lori and Bolo lost they had mentioned that they were in Shri Lanka a few days before the tsunami hit. That would have been around Christmas. But last night, their show coming into Chicago - it's a bit cold if it was even a few weeks later to be not wearing any coats or anything. So that confused me a bit. Anyone have any insight into that? I mean we had nice weather about a week ago when it was in the 50's but there's no way, if they truly finished in January that they could have stood to be standing there with no jackets on. That really boggled my mind.

I too also wanted Kris and Jon to win. And I found it interesting about that train as well. And we had never heard of Ping Tom Park so it was nice to see something we haven't seen in the city.

And with the cab issue - was anyone else sitting there going - but Freddy, there's a cab right around the block (the cab that Kris and Jon were getting out of). So I thought that was a bit odd that it appeared he did look around the corner so why didn't they go for that cab??? So creative editing - hmmmmmm... :)

And as far as eating Gino's pizza fast - for anyone who has never had Gino's pizza it really is something that you can hack. I don't care for their pizza because of all the tomato and sauce they put on it. Plus the crust is weird, like a cornmeal type crust. It can get caught in your throat if you aren't drinking anything. And one pizza is usually VERY filling for me and I'm a larger person, so for someone who is pretty skinny and hasn't had that kind of food for a few weeks, it can be gagging.

was disappointed that Freddy and Kendra won but did not want Adam and Rebecca to win. he is such a baby and Rebecca is just so wishy washy. Are they still together I missed it this morning....

Count me as another one who was disappointed that Kris and Jon didn't win. I saw the first segment on The Early Show where it was just Kendra and Freddy and I really don't feel she redemmed herself. I don't care for her anymore this morning than I did during the entire race. So glad to hear that Kris and Jon are together. They are such a class act and if they ever have an Amazing Race All Star, I hope they are invited back. I'm sure they will enjoy all the trips that they one. They appreciated the culture of every country they went to. I was so glad that Hayden and Aaron were eliminated as I could not take any more of her. And to think he wants to marry her, gosh I hope moving the date will give him time to reconsider. I knew that Adam and Rebecca would not win, but they worked much better together the final 2 episodes. Did they saw on the Early Show if they are together?

looking forward to AR7. I think Amber and Rob will add some excitement to the race as everyone should be against them. However, Rob seems to thrive in that environment.

No, they were not in Sri Lanka a few days before the tsunami, they had been there several weeks earlier. I think filming wrapped in October.

Okay, I thought they had said they had been there a few days before. Then that would make sense because there just is no way, unless you are really warm blooded, that you could stand in Chicago in January without a coat on (even if it was sunny).

If it's above 45 I don't wear a coat. I hate those things! :rotfl:

The clues did say that they had to take the train into the city from the airport. Cabs would have been much quicker on a weekend.
I think there was a roadblock or something edited out because they could have run from the Water Tower to Gino's in less time than they were in the cab.
I also remember reading a spoiler months and months ago about someone seeing racers running towards the Sears Tower on Adams St. sometime last summer. There was no footage of that so maybe that was what was edited out. It would also explain the non-skyscraper area that K & J were looking for a cab.

I agree that there was some odd editing after Water Tower - I can look at Water tower right now and my office was in the background last night - after they got there clue, I have no idea where they were at looking for a cab - and from Water Tower to Gino's is a 1 minute cab ride with no traffic.
I was watching the show with a friend and when the clue read "Take a Cab to Gino's" I was confused. As you said, Ginos is a 5 walk from the Water Tower. I deleted the show from my DVR, but I thought the area looked like Division and Orleans/LaSalle. I have no idea why they would be near Cabrini Green, except perhaps to show Kendra that there is plenty of poverty in the US too. j/k.

Did the clue say they had to take the "el" to Water Tower from O'Hare - a cab on Sunday morning would have been much quicker. The blue line to downtown, switch to the red line (probably a wait), and then exit at Chicago avenue and dash 3 blocks east to Water tower.

I paused the DVR when they showed the clue. It specifically said "Take the TRAIN or WALK" to the Water Tower.

The train from the airport let them out at Chicago and State.... 2 or 3 blocks west of Michigan ave.

My girlfirend and I were puzzled abot taking the cab to Ginos also. And I didnt reconize the area where they were searching for the cab either.

And we almost peed in our pants when Kendra was gagging down the pizza. Come on... 1/2 a SMALL pizza and your fighting the last few bites down. I think ya need to eat more kendra.... really.

It was probably more than she had eaten in the last week! I swear, she must practice that gag reflex. After every meal.

Yeahh---the horns are gone.."here's a little souvenier from the Amazing Race"

:rotfl:

(they cut Adam's "antennae" on CBS This morning).

I don't know if anyone here is a fan of Star Trek: Enterprise, but the story this week had to do with cutting off the antenni of an Andorian. I was thinking of Adam when I was watching that.

The funniest line last night?

"He was three testicles" We all no from watching this season, that Adam had none :rotfl:

The Ginos was the one over by Ed Dbevics. Not as close to Water Tower as it used to be.

That could have been the beginning of the race.
The whole looking for a cab thing was weird. If they were on (or near)Michigan, even on a Sunday morning, they could have very easily gotten their choice of cabs.

omg - that was too funny! (and so true about him having none! heheh)

and after Rebecca said it the Cabby is just smiling and nodding....some of the cabbies really crack me up.

Add me to the list of disappointed people that Kris and John did not win. I was shocked too that Aaron proposed to Hayden after her unbelievable meltdown. I don't know if he was doing it for publicity or what :confused3

The previews for the next race do look good. I was one of the people who was not thrilled about Rob and Amber, but after seeing the previews, it might not be so bad :flower:

I think i read somewhere that the 2nd place team wins $250,000 and the third place team gets $100,000. I remember some contestant saying this cab ride is the difference between $250 and $1 million on a previous show.

I was thinking of that spoiler last night when they said Chicago because I read that but the spoiler had said a team of two woman were seen running towards the sears tower....
Im going to look and see if I can find it...if I can I will post it here

CBS has their page up for the next Amazing Race, including rundowns of Romber's competition.

My call for the early sentimental-favorite team -- Ron and Kelly. Ron was one of the Apache helicopter pilots shot down during Operation Iraqi Freedom and taken POW.

Maybe the two women were Rebecca and Hellboy with his ponytails. ;)
