The Amazing Race 6...Official Thread

Jonathan really has to go. He is one of the most unlikeable people I have ever seen on television (or in real life).

Couldn't Lori & Bolo just get a cab to Budapest? Yeah. the clue says to tale the train but at this point, I think I would be willing to take the 30 minute penalty instead of waiting for the train overnight.

DS, 16, and I were watching and when Jonathan said the part about Victoria doing the woman's part and being quiet, my son looked at me quite incredulously. Made me feel good that he thinks Jonathan is a sexist idiot too!!! :earboy2:

Some LAUGH OUT LOUD moments of last night:

Jonathan gets in the little car, he is all excited "because he KNOWs cars" In his excitement he exclaims "I know where the the clutch is" Then they show his foot pressing down on the clutch.

LOL!! I had forgotten about that too! I guess I must be a genius too because I know where the clutch is. He was really tooting his own horn last night, wasn't he.

OK i just found this thread and I love Amazing Race...

Okay.. my take: Jonathan & Victoria need to go. He needs to be disqualified b/c of his violent behaviour towards his partner.. last time I checked that was considered abuse.. bue hey. He's just an evil evil little man. I simply LOVED it when they cabby pulled over and made them get out. I really do wish more people would do that to him.. maybe he'd learn. And LOL at him bing a prick about the plane tickets. "thanks you just lost us the race" PRICK. dude.. did you ever think of a TRAVEL AGENT.. he's so savvy, come on!

I adore Kris and John. they get along so well and are just so positive about everything. Gus and Hera are really growing on me too, at first I was annoyed by how he just seemed to sit back and make her do it all, and now he's gotten in the grove and is just very nice to watch. I also havent liked Lori and Bolo that much up to now. But I do like them and am rooting on them figuring out a way to catch up. :moped:

I can do without Hayden & Aaron, Rebecca & Adam and Kendra & Freddie.

Where are sign ups for the "I HATE JONATHAN" fan club. LOL

I was curious too why they made it into a two parter. I'm wondering if they will have two more tasks to complete.
If Lori and Bolo just take a cab to the cafe, they might be penalized more than 30 minutes. Isn't it 30 minutes, plus whatever time it should have taken you to get there? I would think it has to be more, because I'm sure there are tons of times it would be faster to take a cab instead of waiting for a bus or train. Does anyone know?

Maybe they will do this, since they had to sit and wait for a vehicle. Didn't Phil say in the beginning another vehicle would come if theirs broke down. So the 30 minute penality might be wiped out.

Did anyone else notice the couple who finished the cannon ball detour and took the little car to the train station instead of a taxi or walking? They flashed by it pretty fast, so I don't know who it was. I was wondering if they end up with a penalty the keeps Lori and Bolo from having to go home this time?

I was thinking the same thing, but I think the clue just said " go to the train station". If that's the case I don't think it would matter that they took the car.

I was wondering that as well. I don't remember the exact wording of the clue....

Actually, Phil said a new vehicle MAY be brought to them. He really emphasised the MAY.

I dont open this thread until I watch it... and I just finished watching it!'

WOW... nothing like a little cliffhanger to perk one up!

I thought Phil said something to the effect if it is found that the car breaks down due to no fault of the teams a new car may be brought to them.

Someone else above made this comment... if the teams are sent to a place that doesnt open until later the next day, then the wrestlers have a chance.

Cant wait for the next episode!

Yes Laurabearz, Phil did make that comment. I wondered why the team with the guy with the ridiculous horns actually were brought another car. The girlfriend kept saying "he blew up the car".

For me, it's a toss up as to whether Jonathan & Victoria go first of the horn boy team. I can't stand either of them. It's beyond comprehension how Victoria can stay with someone like that.

A friend of mine at work just sent me a link to the Jonathan and Victoria saga...I can't stand the two of them...she's not too bad but I get annoyed that she accepts everything that he says and seems ok with always taking the blame...anyway, the link is: www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6743532 I also was bummed that it was a too be continued show...looks like Freddie has a meltdown next episode...just wondering if someone yielded them? Seems like he didn't know who to blame though...maybe that was changed from last season where when someone yielded you, you knew who did it.

Jonathan is the world's biggest donkey. It's a good thing he thinks so highly of himself, since no one else does.

They seem to be pretty flexible about rules interpretation on the show, but it's usually been 30 minutes plus the amount of time you saved. Two or three seasons ago a couple of young lawyer chicks took a cab to the pit stop when the clue said to walk. They were penalized 37 minutes, because they saved 7 minutes in travel time. It was enough to cause them to be eliminated (thank god!).

They were really something. They ran from the cab to the mat, and then at the last moment started to walk so that they could argue that they actually did walk to the pit stop. Then they blamed their cameraman.

But in the first season, near the very end, the mother-daughter team couldn't complete their last Roadblock in India, and finally just went to the pit stop. They were given a 24 hour penalty, and that meant elimination for them.

Since all the cars were crappy--and the race planned on that--it was luck of the draw if you got a car that was going to break down...so I don't think anyone will be getting time credits for that.

Additionally--it isn't worth the risk of a penalty...they don't know what lies ahead...and who's to say the penalty wouldn't be calculated based on the 7am train time plus the expedited travel plus the built in penalty.

I think we're jumping ahead and assuming we would know what the penalty would be.

I'm hoping--but I can't remember how the clue read. There was one time it did say "walk" in the clue in another season...but I don't recall hearing that when they read the clues last evening.

I'm also new to this thread but Amazing Race is the only reality show I've ever watched and liked. DH and I watch it together. I was ready to jump through the screen and strangle Jonathan last night. I also wish all cab drivers, etc. would treat Jonathan the way the guy did last night.

I have been a fan of TAR since season 2.

Hated Will.
Hated Colin.
Hated Flo.
Despise Jonathan.

I really wish however, they would stop calling them "clues".
"Make your way to Checkpoint Charlie" is not at clue.
"Choose a car and drive to Eger" is not a clue.
They're instructions.
