THE AMAZING RACE 15, Season Starts 09/27/09

Kirby, I totally agree with you:surfweb:That team has cutting and toxic interpersonal communication and the fact that they are engaged is scary:scared1:

My DH is out of town, so I invited two AR fans to my house for dinner. We had:

* Chicken and Bok Choy with garlic and ginger. My friend started off with a Vietnamese dish and then started to "wing it" with other traditional Asian flavors. Very yummy!
* White rice
* Vietnamese Summer/Spring rolls with shrimp and tofu, served with Peanut Sauce. I am VERY lucky to have an Asian foodmart within a couple miles of my house. I was kinda surprised at how good these tasted ... even though I could not get the roll to be tight enough and they were HUGE. http://www.chow.com/recipes/10641
* Che Dau Trang: a "pudding" made from glutinous rice, coconut milk, sugar and ... black eyed peas. Not bad ... but not particularly good either. At least it was authentic! http://wanderingchopsticks.blogspot.com/2008/04/che-dau-trang-vietnamese-white-beans.html
* "33" Export Vietnamese beer.

Next week is Cambodia! Looks like a noodle night for us.

It is just as necessary as calling a team member a "meat head". I think that an educated person should be able to pronounce all of the letters in the alphabet. I didn't call him a dolt, I said he sounded like one, and I stand by my opinion.
No. You did not call him a dolt. You said

I can't stand that hideous Boston accent. If you can't say your R's you sound like a dolt.
You called our perceived* accent "hideous". You insulted and offended a large number of DISers, as well as people in general whose perceived* accents happen not to gibe with what you think equates education. Had you been specifically referring to Lance, the proper statement would have been "I can't stand his hideous accent; his not saying his Rs makes him sound like a dolt". Instead, you chose to attack an entire region's speech.

*We actually do not have an accent - we were here first. The rest of the country talks funny.

AND for the record...being new to SoCal, we go to restaurants, stores, banks, etc and as we talk, order, or simply just have a convo with someone in SoCal...they LOVE our accent and immediately pick up on it and then say..."you must be from the EAST"!!!
Hey, I can do better than that! I was with some DISers at the Pop pool last year, and a man with two kids walked by and asked what was going on. From just a couple of sentences, I knew not only that he was from this area - but that he lived in Dorchester!

The lawyers need to go. Are they really that clueless?? Yet again, the 'dumb' team makes it through by the skin of their teeth.

Like the Boston accent or not (and this Southern girl happens to like it), not pronouncing his Rs is the least of that lawyers problems. What a jerk.

Why don't we get over this accent business and move on? I'm a born Texan with an accent that even other born Texans make fun of. I have family members from back East that make fun of my accent. Big deal! Everyone has an opinion and that's what forums are for, expressing your opinion or at least that's what I've always thought.

I think that the lawyer and his fiance are one of the most clueless teams ever on AR. And I wonder which team loses their passport?

I was SOOO hoping that the lawyer was getting the "loser edit", what with his talk about being a lion and being such a complete moron about the "bullet" clue. I can only hope for next week. And I have no idea what his fiancee sees in him.

Not sorry to see Ron and Marcy (?) go--they seemed pretty lost, too. I thought most of the other teams really rocked it, though. I was glad the Globetrotters came in first, but all the teams just seemed to race really smart, for the most part.

Hi! Can I play here too? I've been watching AR since day 1 - never miss it.

Anyway, I didn't mind seeing that couple go last night but would've rather it been lawyer jerk and his fiance. The couple that did go though - I don't see them continuing in a relationship. She is ANNOYING!! He didn't seem to overjoyed with her either. :confused3

I wonder who loses their passports next week. As of right now I'd have to say I hope it's not the father/son or the globetrotters - they are my favs so far. :thumbsup2

I really like the Globetrotters and the Father/Son. The couple that left - yeah, he could do better! (her comment on the first episode "I've never dated a bald guy" - eeek! shallow, much?)

Gosh, if the lawyer leaves, who will we have to complain about? His fiancee's voice is so grating.

This is first season in a while that we've watched...usually I pick favorites before I pick the ones I don't like in shows like this....not this time!! Lawyer needs to go!! And the lady who left last night is weird...can't figure out if was a good or bad weird.

For those that we like: The Globetrotters (so funny...and competitive, but not in a way that is detrimental to the other teams), Father & Son (from an area in MT that we lived in for 12 years), and Zev and his friend (not sure what it is about them...just like them:goodvibes)

I thought that was funny when Team Yellow (Ericka & Brian) choose the ZEBRA....and they called themselves TEAM ZEBRA!!! :rotfl: That was cute! ::yes::

Hmmm....I can't say if I have a favorite yet. I do like the Globetrotters and Zev and Justin!! :thumbsup2

robinb, your MENU is amazing!!! WOW, how impressive!!! :goodvibes

robinb

I love your ideas! I think I'll start trying out some dishes for my Sunday dinners. We have Vietnamese food at least 2x per week though, so this wouldn't have been anything unusual for us (DBF is Vietnamese). I'm going to look up some Cambodian dishes!

I hope it isn't the Globetrotters that lose their passports because I like them.

The team that loses the passports will be grounded and won't be able to leave the country.

Yep.

Does anyone remember if the lawyer and his girlfriend was one of the candidates?:rotfl:
