The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

Quick check in to keep y'all updated. :sad1: Alexis' grandmother passed away this morning. Her Mom & Dad are with the family, she's here with me. I told her & she was pretty upset, cried for a while & wanted to go to the hospital. We decided that wasn't a good idea. Boy the questions she's asking are much tougher now, then when she lost her other grandmother. She's worried about her grandfather. Asked who was going to live with her Paw-Paw now & that he was going to be so sad living all alone.

That's got to be very hard on you Sheryl, my thoughts and prayers are with your entire family, I am very sorry for your loss.

Sheryl - I'm so sorry! How hard for Alexis! I'm just glad that she has you to help her through this. Give her a hug from me, ok?

I'm feeling really good today. It's a rainy, cool day here, and it feels so good! I took the kids to the library today and they all got prizes for completing their July reading! Very exciting. After that, we stopped at Walmart and did some back to school shopping. I got notebooks for 5 cents, crayons for 88 cents, colored pencils and glue sticks for 88 cents, markers for 88 cents and pens for 88 cents. I love this kind of shopping.

We also picked up new thermoses and sandwich holders for their lunch boxes. I ordered new lunch boxes yesterday from the Disney site. We got personalized boxes that look really good. They were on sale, and I got free shipping on them, too.

Since we got home, Katie has gone through her shirts, and skirts for school. Tomorrow we'll go through pants and misc. clothes. Then we move on to Jacob, and the twins. I try to take each one on a "date" to get their back to school clothes.

Now, I'm resting for a couple of hours before starting dinner. We're having a turkey and stuffing bake. Actually, Katie is putting it together. I'm just going to sit on the couch and give her instructions.

I heard from my doctor this morning, and she thinks it was the heat and dehydration. She said that if it happens again to come into her office immediately. I'm just going to take it easy until our ultrasound on Friday morning!

Sheryl, prayers sent to you all. Hugs to Alexis.

Glynis, I feel so much better you spoke with your Dr. Take it easy in this heat my friend...H2O and lots of it.

DH just left for work. He was starved and ate all the chicken. So I am thinking DS and I will have french toast later.

Sheryl I'm so sorry to hear about Alexis great grandmother:hug:

Glynis continue to take it easy. It's great you have such a good cook to help out.

Nancy Hope your feeling better.

Lauren I hope your on the mend.

I just realized, I must be in a hugging kind of mood  I do mean everyone of those hugs.

I think I'm eating leftovers tonight. Alex won't be home till later. Last night I made a primavera pasta. It tasted really good.Fresh veggies make the difference.

Thanks everyonel for the concern & prayers! Alexis's Mom just picked her up, & the questions started again. She started to choke up when her Mom came in, but Chris calmed her down & she was okay when they left.

She (GrandMaw) wasn't in a lot of pain, & his Paw-Paw told them today that she had been praying everyday for God to take her. And that last week he started praying for that too. It sounds like they both had made their peace with it. So that's really good.

Glynis, Glad you're feeling better, but still sounds like you're doing too much! Please take it easy. I can't believe we're talking back to school shopping already! Seems like summer just started.

Oh the poor little one  Sheryl, I was hoping that she would be able to accept without the questions.

Please accept my condolences and know that your family is in my prayers.

Glynis, continue to rest and take it easy.

Marisa wants to know if you need a code for the lunch boxes. Kady always gets hers from the Disney store.

Janice,   Right back at ya!

I just made this jello dessert and it was sooooo good! Thought I'd share...

Make orange jello according to package (I used sugar free), except cut the cold water in half.

Chill until almost set...I'd say about 3 hours.

Stir in about 2 cups of Cool Whip until pretty well mix and add a small can of mandarin oranges.

Chill for another few hours...yummy!

Sounds like Alexis is going to be ok!

I really had it easy. I just sat on the couch folding laundry while Katie tried on her clothes. No worries! I can't believe that our school starts on the 18! That just seems so very early to me! Last year we started on August 23.

Lauren- I am going to make that dessert this week.

Dinner was a hodgepodge but we liked it. I was feeling better so I ate too. We had roasted chicken. No sauce, no glaze , not nothin! just some seasoning, cole slaw and a cucumber and onion salad with a creamy dill and garlic dressing. I also made a refried bean pie on the side. Kady would not touch any of it but th chicken so Marisa made some of those smilie things for her as well.

I have fresh blueberries and raspberrries for dessert

Buddy only heard the "pie" part of bean pie and was looking for a blueberry pie , he knew I picked blueberries adn raspberries and was ready for real pie. Picture the poor guy when he saw a pie with two of his least favorite things stuffed inside :lmao::lmao::lmao: and no fruit pie in sight!

I'm so sorry for your sad news. I will pray for everyone.

Wanted to give an update on my Mom & her 5 herniated discs....she continues with acupuncture appointments and we are seeing some good but very slow positive changes. She is scheduled to see an orthopedist that specializes in spines so we just have to sit tight and take it slow. It will be 5 weeks tomorrow that this all started for her, it feels like it has been months.
Anyone that has been thinking about acupuncture I say go for it!!!! We are lucky that this man is actually an M.D. as well (Oncologist that no longer practices) so he understands Eastern & Western medicine.

I was in the ER all day Saturday, bad leg pain and severe headache. They rushed me in for an MRI to make sure I didn't have a bleed in my head from the Coumadin I take daily. I have been having a terrible time not being able to keep a therapeutic level & they we worried about more blood clots in my legs and lungs but everything turned out ok.....
Today I was lucky to get an appointment at the Hematologist that specializes in clotting disorders in NYC because someone cancelled, otherwise I had to wait until the middle of September, I go a week from tomorrow.

WFD ~ I blew my diet 100%! Stress eating all the way, french fries & chocolate chip cookies, I hope the 2 Diet Cokes helped balance it out;)
