The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

Hi All!

Quick check in...

Well, I have changed all of our plans due to the weather reports and then its sunny all day! I have actually canceled most of our dining including: Blue Zoo (yes, I must be crazy), Yak and Yeti and Cape may Breakfast. I am really OK with all of this since we are having such a great time! :goodvibes I did book Kona for breakfast though.

We did eat at RR last night and LOVED it again. I tried a few drinks there too and loved them. We went to Ghiradelli's for ice cream earlier and are going offsite for Chinese tonight.

Kathy, FYI: They do not have entertainment on Sundays...

We are all in LOVE with OKW...we are in the same section as last time (Turtle Pond) and LOVE LOVE LOVE this area. Only a 10 min walk to the main building and main pool, close to the bus, quiet pool and tennis is across the street. We rented a pontoon boat this morning and went to the pool (I got my fat *** on the slide too - boy, was that fun!). Tomorrow is Typhoon Lagoon, La Nouba and House of Blues for our anni. Then we will do the parks for the next 2 days (we are only hitting the attractions we love - I love that we are doing this - we are so relaxed).

Oh, my new favorite drink at OKW is the Sultry Seahorse...yum!

Another thing we love is having a car. It is great not waiting for a bus (not that we have gone many places yet!)

I hope everyone is well (forgive me - I did not read through everything). Off to get ready...

Hey Lauren!!!!

Thanks for the heads up on the entertainment at Raglan!!

I'm so sad you won't be going to Blue Zoo but it sounds like you guys are having a wonderful relaxed time, that's the best kind of vacation there is!!

I hope you enjoy La Nouba as much as we did and have a wonderful anniversary!!!

Thanks Kat, Yeah, I have no idea why but it does not pain me not to go to BZ...I guess cuz I know we'll hopefully be back again next year. Yes, we really having fun.

OK, I really have to get off now! ;)

You sound like me! although i do carry weight on the hips..it really is mostly in my torso...i am built like a piece of double bubble with the wrapper on..small up top round in the middle then small again...!!:rotfl2:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Well I just did a mile on my treadmill....that's the closest thing to exercising I've done in FIVE years. I'm thinking if I do this daily my body won't go into shock when I hit the gym in a few weeks....:worried:

That isn't a bad idea. Maybe you won't be too sore when you start.

Thanks Kat, Yeah, I have no idea why but it does not pain me not to go to BZ...I guess cuz I know we'll hopefully be back again next year. Yes, we really having fun.

Glad to see you're having a great time!

Lauren Glad to hear you are having a great time. How are the crowds?

Laurie I feel so bad for your dog. He must be more selective in his playmates. My uncle's dog is forever getting skunked. You'd think after 5x he would learn.

Ann I'm glad you have such a great travel agent. You will have to let us know how AKL villas are.

Kathy you are a better person than I. I have a excercise glider that is a great clothes rack.

Off to figure what I have to make dinner with.

It wasn't his appendix, not sure what was wrong. But by the time we left he was feeling normal. So I'm keeping an eye on him.

Was the pain more in the area of his diaphram? Cause if so it could be a hiatal hernia. I have one and had an attack last night. Ate to much yesterday and had a lot of dairy. It started out like a stomach ache then moved higher up.

Ann, we love OKW.

I've stayed there twice now and love it.:cloud9: Once with my sis and her two girls and once for a ladies week with my sis, BFF, two cousins and two friends of the one cousin. The first time was in a studio and the second was in a two bedroom.

The funniest thing that happened during ladies week was when my sister found towels in the dryer. With 8 women we were going to be washing towels constantly. My sister was exploring and comes running out of the laundry room carrying this hugh armload of towels. :lmao: We had her reinact it so we could take pictures of her.

We too have a quest to stay at all or nearly all of the resorts. Next will be AKL for Mr A he really wants to stay there.

I stayed there on my first trip. Even though we had a pool view it was still great. My sis and her family stayed there last November and she has some beautiful shots of the animals in the morning from their balcony. I think that is the most beautiful resort I have stayed at so far. Walking through the front door I just feel this calmness.

Us too! Beck and I have already agreed on open revolt.

Caili has her last Monday afternoon skating session for the summer this afternoon.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

*****************
Summer has officially begun for her now :thumbsup2

Today is the last day of school! We are going to have something summery to celebrate- probably hot dogs or hamburgers- a good way to start off summer vacation. Of course we should probably have ice cream sundaes to go with it. I walked out to the compost bin and relized I REALLY need to cut the grass, so I'm off. Have a good day everyone.

What a fun way to celebrate the last day if school!

My DH called me all thrilled...I told you we decided to book OKW studio for the week right, wrong...change of plans again! But I am so excited, instead of trying a new resort...we are doing a split stay and trying two new ones.We will be starting our vacation in a AKV savannah view and ending at OKW.:woohoo: DS is going to go nuts over the animals at AKV and I know we are going to love OKW. I have my fingers crossed it doesn't change again.:rotfl: But I think DH is thrilled which means content.

AKL is my favorite resort. Marisa and Jeff love the Poly and they like to be on the monorail but I would choose AKL any day. Your little guy will love it, and there are a lot of activities for him. Make sure that you all schedule some extra resort time, this is one that is not a shower, sleep and run. You might like the cooks tour of Jiko and Boma.

Hey Y'all,

I'm not doing so well today. I slipped on the wet driveway Saturday rushing to get the mail before it started pouring. Fell on my butt & caught myself with my left arm, the one that hurts all the time anyway. So it was a pretty crappy weekend, doped up on meds. I'm a little better today, but still hurting.

Poor you! You have been so sore to begin with, this does not help. Take it easy my friend and heal.

You sound like me! although i do carry weight on the hips..it really is mostly in my torso...i am built like a piece of double bubble with the wrapper on..small up top round in the middle then small again...!!:rotfl2:

I'm really starting to worry about Glynis.

Me too. She should have been back a while ago. I hope she is okay.

Well WW went well for us, although Marisa and Erica rocked! Both got their 10% key chains, I am so proud of the both of them.'
Marisa is calling Debbie tonight. I think I will sign up for the free 8 week trial and if it seems that I will really go I'm going to bite that bullet. My oldest may come as well. This is huge, he would never even discuss exercise and I was starting to worry.

Dinner was not pasta, we ended up with eggs and a muffin for Marisa, Mac and cheese and left over potatoes for the little carb-o-holic, sandwiches for Buddy and I had brown rice and roast pork with a salad.

Glynis update:

Janice PM'd her and she is fine, very busy. She'll be back with us tomorrow!!:thumbsup2

I sent a PM to Glynis. She is fine just very busy. She said she will post tomorrow.

Nancy That cook's tour sounds really interesting. Is it just an adult thing or can Mr A do it too?

Sheryl Take care of yourself.
I did something like that when Alex was small. I ran out in my slippers in the winter to get the newspaper and I was just 2 steps from my front door any poof I slipped off my step and really hurt my foot. Gym shoes were my fashion statement that season.

Of course we should probably have ice cream sundaes to go with it.

Of course you should! :thumbsup2 We make lots of excuses to have sundaes here.

I survived another weekend.

I'm glad the shower went well. I am sorry to hear about your dog, but it sounds like Jake is doing better.

But I am so excited, instead of trying a new resort...we are doing a split stay and trying two new ones.We will be starting our vacation in a AKV savannah view and ending at OKW.:woohoo:

That sounds so fun! I am sure you will have a wonderful time.

I'm not doing so well today.

I hope you are feeling better.

Too soon to tell if I'm going to be feeling nice or not.
 So...did you feel nice?

Well I just did a mile on my treadmill....that's the closest thing to exercising I've done in FIVE years. I'm thinking if I do this daily my body won't go into shock when I hit the gym in a few weeks....:worried:

Congratulations, Kathy! When my mom started using her treadmill regularly, she lost pounds pretty quickly. You might get to the gym in awesome shape. :thumbsup2

Summer has officially begun for her now :thumbsup2

Well, yes, in that skating is now in the mornings. At least it doesn't interfere with dinner anymore!

Congratulations to you and the girls with sticking with WW.

Glad to hear that Glynis is okay. I was wondering where she was as well. I can't wait to hear about her trip!

As planned, dinner tonight was the tomato, mozzarella, lettuce and pesto sandwich. Tomorrow will be cheese plate night, since I went to this great cheese shop that just happens to be pretty close to the place I have to get Caili's skates sharpened.

He sure can. You show up in front of Jiko a little before the start of the tour and then one of the ambassadors takes you into the restaurant where your tour begins. Honestly, I enjoyed the Boma portion of the tour when two chefs came out and described their food. You do not get a tour of the kitchens, which is what I would have really enjoyed but it is fun. I wish I had taken the art tour. The collection of African art is amazing and if I had taken a tour I would have gotten more than when I read the captions.
I think that A will also enjoy talking with the ambassadors who are everywhere throughout the resort. They love to talk about their homelands. Buddy and I were out near the Savanna and one of the animal keepers heard us talking. he stopped working, we did not see him there, and took the time to explain to us whatever we had been wondering. I loved staying here.

Tonight we are having chili. Woo hoo!!

ETA: I don't know if Facebook links are allowed, but I made one last weekend and would love to add you guys if you have one. Let me know!!

Thankfully, no. I've had one before and believe me, I know where it hurts. His pain was more groin/belly button centered. It hasn't hurt him since Saturday.

Hi, Glynis :wave2:

Hope you are feeling better today! Please watch your step, thank you!

Jake is doing better today, Saturday (especially) and Sunday he was still in la la land, not himself, just laying around with those sad puppy dog eyes, dry crunchy food hurts his throat, can't bark, although he did get out 1/2 a horse sounding bark yesterday and then proceded to gag.
Baby shower was a success, I would post pictures if I knew how. Maybe I'll try and search the other boards and see if I can figure it out.
I feel like I am stuck in a Lucille Ball espisode with everythig that has been going on! Come on, you can't even make this stuff up!

WFD tonight is leftovers from the baby shower as last night I made sirloin pork in butcher block sauce, maple glazed carrots, and Teriayki rice.

Glad Jake is feeling a bit better. Done with one fabulous party now on to the next. Sounds like our family, we have had one huge party going on a month since April. Funny things is I do not see a break until October (DN wedding)...and then holidays will be here before we know it.

That sounds like one awesome vacation, so happy for y'all!:yay:

I'm really starting to worry about Glynis.

Thanks...You go girl ! I feel like a slug since DS was born. Not much time with DH's work schedule.

Welcome home Glynis!!!!

Good morning everyone! Hoping we hear from Glynis today.:goodvibes

WFD - Mediterranean Chicken on the grill, couscous and green beans.

Good morning everyone. John and I both had big salads for lunch yesterday (the leftovers from the big salad plate on Sunday), so I ended up making us sandwiches last night. Here is John's: steak (leftover from Friday), red onion, brie, tomato, and spinach:

And here is mine: chicken (leftover from Saturday), bacon, brie, tomato, red onion, and spinach. I ate half, and John has the other half of this sandwich for lunch today:

Tonight for dinner I am planning a traditional spinach salad with tomatoes, blue cheese, onion, egg, etc., plus a puffed tomato tart.

Welcome back Glynis! I hope your trip to London was spectacular!

Has anyone ever made Monkey Munch? I was watching John & Kate Plus 8
last night and she makes it all the time. I googgled the recipe and found this:

Monkey Munch (aka Chex Mix Puppy Chow)

Ingredients
9 cup Chex
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Directions
Put cereal in large bowl. Melt chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. (She did it in the microwave)
Pour over Chex cereal, put into a large plastic bag with powdered sugar and shake well to coat.
Spread mixture evenly on wax paper and allow to cool.
Store in frig.

Welcome back Glynis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kat- do we have the recipe?

Ann- my family would love the Monkey Munch!
