The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

Uh oh, dog pictures. You should all be very grateful I have no idea how to post pictures, you see I just happen to have the best dog ever- not counting my previous dogs.

Well you need to figure it out as I LOVE dog pics and can't wait to see yours.;)

Where is everyone this evening?????

Laura - Love the food porn....:lovestruc

I
Good luck to Andrew and the team! Liam's team is doing great so far. They are undefeated, and their pitcher last night pitched five innings of shut-out ball. That is really unusual at this level since they are limited to 75 pitches. The team won 12-0.

Laura- Liam's team is doing so well!

So folks seamed to like the idea of the last one I posted. Here is another perienal favorite at my house. Make sure you do the sauce to go with it, it really makes the dish.

First, your pretty Belle is so beautiful! Her eyes must be your downfall, I know she would get anything from me :rotfl:. My niece has a little beagle and has been trying to keep his weight steady but those big expressive eyes that a hound dog uses on my sister gets him a "cookie" just for being cute :goodvibes

And yes, we really liked the last recipe, but this one is going to go into my file! This diet thing is killing me when I see recipes like this one.

 Sorry you're not feeling well. I used to really enjoy all of the functions at the nursing home. It just warmed my heart to see the residents enjoying the simple things in life.:goodvibes

We had some really severe weather this morning. First time I can remember being sent home from work as soon as I got there. We're expecting some more storms throughout the day and into the night. I'm hoping it clears up by tomorrow morning as we have Kyle's Baccalaureate Mass and Breakfast.

Kat- I thought of you early this morning when our weather guy pointed your neck of the woods out on the map. I'm glad that you all are okay.

The cookout/eat in was a success! My cousin, my sister and I joined my aunt for dinner and it was so nice to see all of the staff and a bundle of volunteers shake up that place. There have been activities all week long, yesterday was tastings from around the world. The staff cooked food from their ethnic backgrounds for everyone. They do this kind of thing all the time, and I believe that her transition is going as well as it is because of them. I did skip out before the tasting began, I would never have had the will power to walks away from all of that good food!

Uh oh, dog pictures. You should all be very grateful I have no idea how to post pictures, you see I just happen to have the best dog ever- not counting my previous dogs.

Okay- now we know you have a dog, so maybe when you learn you will share with us????????

I am going to get Marisa to teach me to post, and if she can teach me, well we should get to see your dog. :lmao:

Dinner was leftover soup for me. Marisa brought Chinese for Jeff and Buddy and I have no idea what anyone else ate.

I usually pop them in the toaster, but I'd think you could grill them frozen.

Thanks!

Yep that is my little Belle :) That was when she was only a couple of months old, here is a more recent one

284282116_ERtuN-M.jpg

So CUTE!! I'm a doggie freak =)

I grill mine frozen. You may need to cover your pan to get the cheese all melty though.

Sorry about the bank account. I do that way too often. Apparently, I recently forgot about $350 worth of payments. :confused3

Thanks for the tips!

 on the payments! I got it all worked out this afternoon; my collegue offered to deposit my check into her acct and take out cash for me to deposit into my acct so the cash would be in before the pending withdrawl. Which left us $20 to spare =) Still mortifying to have to have a collegue bail you out but we are close friends, at least.

DH learned today that his company lost their financial backing and they may all be out of a job in 2 weeks. He's been looking anyways, since work is slow and they will end up laying people off soon, but this just puts fire under our butts. I have a connection we're working on which would put him in the oil/gas industry which we ALL know is lucrative right now!!! Please say a prayer that it might come through very quickly. We can't live on 1 income right now.

Aimee- that's what friends do for each other. I'm glad it worked out, I have had addition/subtraction issues as well and for several years I refused to keep a checking account. I just made too much of a mess. :headache: When I married Buddy somehow I inherited his but I hate it to this day!

Of course I'll add a prayer for your DH. It is hard to have to make a move from a job but I believe that when thee things happen somehow those doors that are there will be easier to see. Best of luck.

Aimee - I've been in your situation before with my DH. I will pray for you until we get good news.

I can't tell you how many bags of Joann's stuff I have in my basement that I meant to make into something, but haven't yet. :rolleyes1

I have a whole bag of fabric that I bought at JoaAnn's the day after Thanksgiving, it was 99 cents a yard. I intended to make a bunch of quilts to sell but haven't done a thing with it. :sad2:

Good luck to him with the new job search.

Dinner tonight turned out pretty good. I grilled chicken breast that I put salt, pepper and lime zest on. I had that over whole wheat pasta and served it with grilled zucchini.

This recipe is for one person.

Garlic Lime Pasta

2 oz whole wheat spaghetti
2 garlic cloves
Zest of one small lime
Juice of one lime
1 T capers
1 t olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste

Boil pasta. In a large bowl put the garlic, that is either minced or put through a press, the lime zest and the capers. Once the pasta is cooked, drain and place in the bowl. Add the lime juice and olive oil. Stir well then add salt and pepper to taste.

Giada's recipe was made using lemon zest and juice. I had some limes I needed to use.

Hey there my dear dear friends, boy have I missed you all:grouphug: ........I am sure that you were starting to wonder where I have been........This past weekend was much much harder for me then I guess I was prepared for, and it took A LOT out of me. I took some time this week to just reflect on some things...........to take a deep breath, and to figure out where I was in my healing..........I wish I could say I have some answers, I don't, but I think that is OK.......it will take the time it takes....I guess that it was just a lot from my mom to my godmother and then to Becky.....all different ages, all different causes, and all very important strong women in my life.

Our beautiful and brave friend Becky's Celebration of Life service on Saturday was amazing. It was so very powerful and perfect, and Becky's spirit was strong in that room......but it was just so hard, and heartbreaking, seeing her children and parents, her brothers, and their families, and of course her dear husband David, who was just so strong. There was no crying, but there also wasn't a dry eye in the house either. The hardest part I felt was when we were leaving the church.....it was just a moment of "now what" and when I said it to others leaving with us, they felt the same way.

Sunday was a bag of mixed emotions for me the 1st mothers day without my own mother to call, though I did "talk" to her.....and then of course my baby boys 11th birthday....Thank goodness it fell on Mother's day this year, a place to focus my thoughts..........my dad called first thing when he woke up to say Happy mother's day to me, (which was so sweet) and then he sang Happy b-day to Ross.....It was a fun day we went to an amusement park, and I know my mom would have wanted us to go and celebrate Ross' day with happiness and not tears and make great memories....so that is what I did.

I guess I am just starting to really feel the loss....I think I have been in a daze and it is wearing off....all part of the healing process I am sure.....I just feel like an open wound....I am sure Becky's passing and service had some effect on how this next stage of grief...............

Anywho....:rolleyes1 what a downer of a post this has been...for those still reading, lol........I would be sick of me by now too....heck, I AM some days;)

I will not even attempt to catch up.I did do a very quick skim, but gave up....Ross did see the b-day wishes and Kat he LOVED the dog one!!:goodvibes I hope that everyone is doing well.....I have had you all in my thoughts this past week..........I will be back on here like normal.....I have missed all of you soooo much!!!

NOW for our title reason.......Supper tonight was tacos and my mex rice dish on the side.

My dad will be here a week from Sunday and I am really looking forward to getting him here to take care of!

We have to do our Target/Bi-lo shopping tonight so we are having a Digourno pizza. Quick and easy, small clean-up.

Have a great day all!! (I keep wanting to add, "WFD at your house?") LOL!

ETA: I got sheets!!! I ended up getting a 400 count in a GORGEOUS mocha color that I love!! Here's the funny thing: I went to the check-out counter with the sheets (2 pillowcases, 1 fitted sheet, 1 flat sheet), a fitted sheet for my new box springs (apparently they are called "the foundation" or something now), a really cute coffee dishtowel I couldn't pass up (that's what my kitchen is decorated in), and a cheapo set of sheet clips (they are supposed to hold your fitted sheet securely to that mattress, thought I'd give 'em a try).

Anyway, I thought the total seemed awful low, but just shrugged it off. When I got home and was putting the things away, I looked at my receipt and solved the mystery.

My sheets were on sale and I got them $20 cheaper.

How cool is that?!?! I love it when I stumble onto a deal!

Wendie- :grouphug:

I have no idea what to do for dinner tonight. My niece by my first marriage lost her stepmother this week. The service is tonight so I am going to go.

I have mixed feelings her, my SIL's divorce was not pretty and the relationship after the divorce was even worse with my niece and nephew caught in the middle of an all out war. When their father remarried his wife would not welcome the kids into their home. My Sis IL passed away in CA unexpectedly and the reaction from the new wife was cold at best. Anyway, my wonderful, caring and compassionate niece has been hit hard by this death so we are going to support her but I feel very guilty that I have no compassion for anyone else in this.

Wendie-

WFD- I don't really know, I have so much to do to get this quilt done and my friend is coming over tonight to make chocolate spoons for the shower gifts.

and the garlic/parmesan monkey bread everyone has been discussing. I made it with pizza dough:

Thanks for the congrats for Liam's team. He is lucky to be playing with some really good ballplayers. He is not a liability, but he isn't one of the major contributors either, at this point. I'll take that. He's the youngest kid on the team.

Hi, congrats to Liam. Monkey Bread question did you use all the spices in the recipe? It did not look like there is Italian seasoning in there? I was laying in bed last night thinking about this recipe (sick I know)...I am considering making one for my neices graduation party. We are such a bread family. Did you use fresh garlic, and I assume you grated your own cheese because it looks so fine. Thanks for the food porn, looks delicious!

WFD - last night we had chicken cutlets with pasta and peas. Tonight is leftovers.

DN lost yesterday 2-0, but they are still holding on to first place at this point!

 TGIF!!!!!

Ann

Wendie - Never feel like you are a downer here. I did it for so long until I realized that no one here feels that way. I know first hand some of what you were feeling this past weekend, last year was my first MD without my Mom and it was very hard. This year was hard too. I am always here if you need to vent.

It's storming here again and we have to head out for Kyle's Baccalaureate Mass & Breakfast. Not sure WFD tonight - probably takeout.

Wendie, I have been thinking about you this week. Never feel like you are a downer; we are here for you. You have been through such a rough time lately. I have a feeling that you will start feeling better when you see your Dad. I think you both need to take care of each other.

Nancy, I am sorry about your Neice's stepmother. You are a very good person to go to the wake.

Kathy, Enjoy your morning. Its rainy and dreary here too.

**********
Andrew's team won!!! Thanks for all the rah rahs! This is the best team in this division and we beat them twice!

Andrew is going to his dads later today so I think I am just going to throw some strombolis together. I think pepperoni/mozz and meatball/mozz.

Have a great day all!

Tonight we are meeting friends at Pei Wei for a quick dinner before a show at church. I wuuuv Pei Wei. :lovestruc

Aimee -- Good luck to your DH. Ihope he finds something new and better quickly.

Wendie -- I am glad to hear from you.

Nancy -- You are good to support your niece.

Monkey Bread question did you use all the spices in the recipe?

I guess I should have clarified that it wasn't the recipe posted here. My kids would never eat bread with not only green stuff on it but also fresh garlic!! I just used butter, granulated garlic (only on half because Caili doesn't like garlic :confused3 ) and freshly grated parmesan cheese. Caili wanted to eat all of it (except for the garlic pieces) and asked if I could make it again.

:cheer2: Andrew!

I haven't figured out dinner yet. I have a lot to do today: clean the house, go to the dump, get flowers for my mom, get Becky a birthday present (her birthday is tomorrow ;) )...so dinner will probably be something easy and not messy. I'm not cleaning the kitchen twice!

Good morning all.

Wendie - You are never a downer! We are family here, and want to be able to support you.

I ended up not making the casserole last night. My morning sickness seems to manifest itself most from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. I just couldn't handle cooking last night! I had to run to the store to pick up posterboard for Katie's last school project, so I stopped by Wendy's on the way home for some potatoes and chili. Yumm! For some reason, that's tasting really good to me lately.

Tonight I will either do the casserole, or do some tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches.

I get to go to brunch this morning for our bowling league's end of the year banquet. Should be fun! We always have it at Mimi's Cafe, and I love their muffins!!!! I can't wait!!!!

The school's carnival will be over Monday night, so this is my last weekend to get things done. I have to make rice crispy squares and 4 dozen cupcakes for the bake sale, and run errands to Costco to pick up prizes for the game I'm in charge of. I can't wait for Monday night!!!!

Aimee, i meant to tell you that I'll keep you and DH in my prayers. I also have been known to lose track of money...:headache:

Hey Y'all,

Sorry I didn't get to check in yesterday. It was graduation day for my SIL yesterday! Even with heavy rain & a minor windshield wiper mishap the day turned out great. Josh received the Top Clinician Award! And our Governor was the commencment speaker. In true Cajun fashion, we had a Crawfish Boil afterwards & spent the whole day eating & hanging out. It was a good day!

We had bad weather yesterday, but it was even worse last night & this morning. I'm worried about Kathy having Kyle's ceremony this morning, the rain has not stopped. We'll probably have some street flooding.

Lauren, The fireplace looks great!:thumbsup2 I love the stone & your mantel! It really came out nice. I know it's been a real pain! But hey so far you haven't stuffed Tom in a freezer. ;)

Laura, The food porn looks yummy! :goodvibes Glad you posted something for us!

Master Mason, That pork loin sounds delicious! Do you do all the cooking in your house? Love your pup too, how old is she now?

Aimee, I'm sorry to hear of your troubles, prayers for you & your DH!

Wendie, You've had a really rough time lately, we sure don't expect you to keep it all stuffed inside! It just takes time, prayers for you my friend.

Lauren, Glad you found some nice sheets & got a good deal too!

Don't know what's for dinner yet. Something hearty it's so yucky outside.

Sheryl, Thanks for the fireplace kudos! I wanted to say Congratulations to Josh!!! What a great honor he received! :thumbsup2 You guys really know how to celebrate...I wanna come to a crawfish boil!

I hope Kyle's Mass and celebration were not affected my the weather. I am sure the proud Mama will fill us in later.
