The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

I have to make rice crispy squares and 4 dozen cupcakes for the bake sale, and run errands to Costco to pick up prizes for the game I'm in charge of. I can't wait for Monday night!!!!

Have fun!

It was graduation day for my SIL yesterday!

Congratulations to Josh. I hope the certification process is quick so he can get back to doing what he loves.

Fortunately we had no street flooding to deal with but my tears could have flooded the church. It's not like I didn't know this was coming, DUH, but as soon as the boys walked into the church in their graduation gowns I lost it.
:) I'm a crier too, Kathy. I finally bought a tripod for my video recorder because all the tapes were way too shaky.

However, the lessons he learned from baseball are proving to be life long lessons for success!

I think sports can teach children such great life lessons...no matter how good you are, you can always be better, for example. If you want to do well, you need to practice and work hard...that's my favorite.

Kenny caught a head cold taking Patrick to the doctor on Monday (at least he's convinced that's where he caught it), so I told him I'd make something that would open his head up.

That's my approach to colds too...I either burn them out or drink them out.

Nancy, Come Monday, I think we'll have to worry about flooding again! During Kyle's Graduation Ceremony Kathy might just flood the whole city!
:lmao:

I hope to get a little bit of sleep tonight but that's what I get for opening my big mouth and volunteering to make the quilt.

And the chocolate spoons are my fault as well, she was going to buy them on Ebay and I told her she could make them herself cheaper. :sad2:

As Gretchen said, no good deed goes unpunished! I try to limit my volunteering to tasks that have a set time requirement and manageable accomplishments within that time frame.

And if anyone tells you that it is way cheaper to have a big celebration in your home RUN! to the caterer!

I will add...please don't ever agree to cater a family member's party. Beck knows what I'm talking about here.

I also have a small catering business, that I do on the side.

Maybe that changes if your family knows you are actually a caterer. Your dog is adorable.

Not sure if you remember, but I mentioned back in January that Kyle had been asked to try-out and made the Louisiana Knights baseball team.

I remember the tryout, but I don't remember you saying that he made the team. If I didn't sat something then...:cool1: Kyle! That is great.

I start working full time in 3 weeks and I can't wait.

Good luck!! I am planning to work part-time starting in the fall when both kids are in school full-time. It will be an adjustment.

Dinner tonight was fish tacos for me, and fish and chips for the kids. I was running late, so I wasn't able to photo the food. However, here is a picture of the flower box Caili painted and planted for my mom (my mom's birthday was yesterday). I think my mom will love it!

I pray that you're right, I guess I'm just really emotional today and worrying about him going off into this big bad world.:sad1:
It's been non-stop tears all day and I'm sure this will continue through the weekend. I really miss my parents at times like these.:guilty:

I did a lot of baking last year after I got my stand mixer for Christmas and tried a variety of yummy things. I asked Kyle if he wanted something special (dessert) this weekend - he wants the Pot of Dirt (Oreo cookie) dessert.

See, even though he is about to turn 18 and is graduating next week, he's still your little boy. But I'm glad you're going to have baseball to focus on too. ;)

Hi everyone! :)

PS: If anything huge happened while I was away, please clue me in! I don't know if I'll have time to go back through three weeks of posts.

Glad to see you back! Looking forward to the pictures and to hearing about how your vacation went.

Tomorrow, we have my oldest niece's college graduation party. I have been helping my Mom all week shopping and cooking for this. I just got home and sauteed my sausage, onion and peppers for my calzones, which I will make tomorrow.

Ann

I hope the party goes well.

Welcome Home Becky! I remember your last trip, you asked Laura to stop in and keep us company while you were gone. :cheer2::cheer2: And now we know we have our own Iron Chefs here

Nancy, how in the world did you remember that?!? I had completely forgotten that, maybe because it seems like Laura has been around much longer.

Tonight's dinner was good, but spicy. It was a Weight Watcher's recipe, I think, but I didn't tell Kenny that or he would have disliked it before he tasted it. As it was, he complained about the heat level, and I even deleted the red pepper flakes. I guess the Asian chili sauce was a little much for him. I loved it however.

Tomorrow night we're having some lobster ravioli I picked up. Anybody got a good idea for a sauce?

Actually, I think tonight he is trying both methods simultaneously. I, being a good wife, am joining him. ;)

I agree about the catering, but it sounds like you have a good story to share. :rolleyes1 So share. Please.

And please tell Caili that I think her flower box is beautiful! I love the colors and I think your mother is going to love it too.

Spoon making went pretty good, we had a system. We started out taking turns coating the spoons with the chocolate then once they were set I drizzled a mixture of Andes mint chips and Hershey's white chips.

I put a little of the Andes chips, which are red and white peppermint flavored bits, in a ziploc bag with about a 1/2 cup of the white chocolate, melted them
then cut a hole in the corner and drizzled the spoons.

And I have almost half of the quilt done, it's going pretty fast.

Some comfort food, this was my favorite meal my mom made

Mom's beef Casorole

2lbs hamburger
1 yellow onion chopped
Garlic to taste
Salt and Pepper to taste
3 cans black olives
1 lb frozen corn
29 oz can tomatoe sauce
Italian seasonings to taste
1 lb elbow macarroni

Brown Hamburger meat with salt and pepper and drain put in a big pot that goes in your oven
saute onion and garlic add to pot
Cook maccarroni to al dente, drain and put in pot (you can acutally use the pot you cook the maccoroni in which is what I do)
add corn drained olives tomato sauce and Italian seasoning.
Mix completely

Bake uncovered at 350 for 30 to 45 minutes stirring every 15 minutes, you want to pull it before the sauce completely dries out.

Serve with Garlic Bread and a green Salad. I like to serve with parm cheese as well.

This will also freeze pretty well as long as the noodles are not overcooked.

Hi, everyone!!

I have no idea what we are doing today. Our mattress is going to be delivered sometime between 2-4, so that kinda puts us in a waiting game.

Have a great day!

Good Morning!

Caili, Your flower pot for Grandma is beautiful!!! Make sure you wish her a Happy Birthday from us! :flower3:

Kathy, I am so glad that you had a nice morning with Kyle. I would be balling too...I cried yesterday when Ellen DeGeneres announced she was getting married!

I would love for you guys to have a boil for me...cuz that means I will be in NOLA with my friends!!!

Have you ever made that cookie dessert before? I posted the recipe I use on the other thread. It is so good!

Gretchen, Kudos on the baking. I am not the greatest baker.

Sheryl, We love how the fireplace came out...it was well worth it but very expensive. Those windows were both there already...The before pic showed one side of the paneling ripped out, the other side was not.

Glynis, Have a great time Monday.

Ann, I am lost alot too trying to keep track of the thread...just keep track of what you can...;) Have fun today!

Tom and I are going out to dinner tonight after A's game. We have alot of errands and landscaping stuff to do...my yard is starting to look all Sanford and Son/Whiskey Tango!!! :rotfl:

Have a great day all!

Another yummy recipe, thanks! I love your doggy too!

Ok so I just made my calzones/stuffed breads. They smell delicious and look great ....from the top that is!!!!!!1:mad: Well the pepperoni and cheese one struck to the pan on each end. I tried everything to loosen it but got chewed up on the bottom. I am sure my family will have no problem devouring it...it just ticked me off. At least my sausage and pepper one looks picture perfect!!!! I am going to try to take some food porn shots and beg DH to help me post it maybe tomorrow.

I cried when Ellen announced it too!

I've never made that dessert before but I googled it and found a recipe. If you can find yours and re-post it I'd appreciate it as I'd like to do one that I know will come out good, however, I'm leaving for the grocery store in about an hour to get all of my ingredients so hopefully you're still on-line.:guilty:

Ann

I'm sure your family will gobble them up.......:yay: :yay: possible food porn!!!!!

WFD - Garlic & Wine Grilled Shrimp with DH & DS's fave - Sweet & Sour Macaroni Salad.:cool1:

Kat, Hope I caught ya! If not most of the recipes I have seen call for the same ingredients.

Dirt Pudding

1 large package of oreos, finely crushed (can use vanilla sandwich cookies too)
2 tubs cool whip, defrosted
2 sticks of butter, room temp
2 blocks cream cheese, room temp
2 cups milk
2 small packs of instant vanilla pudding
***I have made this with low fat ingredients and it comes out just as good!

Mix all ingredients together well (EXCEPT) cookie crumbs. In a pan, layer half of the cookies, then all of the pudding mix, then remainder of the cookies.

That is it! Refridgerate for at least an hour. Decorate the top to your liking...worms, flowers, little umbrellas, etc. I have also seen this served in a cleaned (of course) flower pot lined with foil and flowers.

Ann, Here's hoping for food porn!!! I am sure that the calzones are fine.

Kat, That sweet and sour salad is posted somewhere right? I'll have to do one of my searches for it!

Yup, we even cry over the same stuff...bobbsey twins we are! See the definition:

Bobbsey twins Audio Help /ˈbɒbzi/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[bob-zee] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–plural noun two people who are often together or seem to resemble each other, as in appearance or actions: We called them the Bobbsey twins, because they always had the same opinions.

I will. I am almost done with the quilt, getting ready to do the quilting part now. I just sew around the edge of the quilt an inch from the edge.

I have to remember to take a pic of the spoons tonight, I forgot to do it last night.

As for what's for dinner I think I am going to make grilled cheese with Brie and tomatoes.

I've made that recipe before using Cheesecake flavored pudding.

Happy Birthday, Becky!!!!!!!!!!

We went out this morning to Golden Corral for their breakfast buffet and ran errands so we could stay in the rest of the day. I may clean the bathrooms but that's about it.

I'm making pizza tonight. I need to make the dough so it has time to rise. I have a new pizza stone I want to use but am not sure if I need to do anything to it prior? I'll have to google.

DH got exciting news this morning - may just be the answer to our prayers! He really wants to be a firefighter but it is SO competitive. He has taken the written test for several cities over the past year; we got a certified letter this morning from one of the cities that they want him to take the physical test in a couple of weeks! They took the top 50 test scores, and he was 58 if I remember right, so a few must have not made the cut on the physical test or something. So he gets a chance!

He's going to still seek out other employment options since his company isn't looking good but he was so excited when he got that letter - he was out working in the yard when the postwoman stopped with it and he came running inside to show me. ;)
