The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

I'm trying to wait until the November park hours are published to do lunch ADR's but I'm going to make my Dinner ADR's within the next day or so. We're doing an "all new" trip this year. New resort and all new restaurants.

Dinners - Hopefully a Party for the Senses, Raglan Road, Narcoossee's, Bistro De Paris and Yachtsman Steakhouse.

Lunches - Yak & Yeti, The Plaza & Sci-Fi

Breakfast - Boatwright's

When are you going?

Janice, RR is my favorite restaurant...don't be nervous!

RR is our favorite, too. Only spot DH requested for our next trip!

We booked a trip for Nov 1-7. Right now have AKL booked; anyone stay there? I wanted an Epcot resort so we'll keep checking back.

I'm not sure how much on site table service we'll do. Their prices have gone up and their quality and servings have gone down. We'll have transportation some so we might do some offsite dining.

:rotfl2: Merle that's too funny! Same here, female-yes, lady-???:confused3:laughing:

:teeth:

And just a PSA. An empty pet carrier and a large body of water are much better for disposal then a freezer. That way you won't have to worry about cross contamination. It stinks, no pun intended, when your dead body smells like fish. ;)

Went to the Orioles game tonight, they won :cheer2: and had a great time. Dinner was ham sandwiches and chips.

Ok here is my current favorite recipie

Olive spread (see Below)
Puff Pastry (boxed in the frozen section)
6 Boneless pork chops seasoned with salt and pepper (3/4 inch thick)
olive oil

Olive spread
1 can black olives
about 20 pitted calamata olives
1 head roasted garlic
about 3 pieces of marinated artichoke hearts
Olive oil

Blend everything in the olive spread in a food processor till olives are small chunks

In a large skillit heat enough olive oil to cover until just below smoking point then sear the porkchops for 2 minutes a side, remove them to a plate

Cut the puff pastry into 6 pieces, it is easy as they are 2 to apack and folded in thirds.

flour a cutting board and roll out one piece of pastry till large enough to envolope 1 pork chop Put down on the pastry the pork chop, cover with a thin layer of the olive spread, then fold over pastry to make a package.

Repeat with rest of pork chops

Put them on a wire rack over a baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes at 350, use a themometer to check doneness and adjust cooking time as needed.

Yum, when shall I be over? This is pretty gourmet for my house but I would love this! Thanks for the recipe.

:cheer2: Prayers on the way!!

Your little surprise must be a lot of fun for your DN. My niece Debbie is Kady's Godmother and they adore each other. She took Kady to a Men's basketball game her first or second year in college and then took Kady to meet the team. Kady was not all that impressed with those tall guys and announced to them all that she had to go potty:rotfl2:

I'll keep your special girl in my prayers, All State is the best! Keep us posted, please.

Janice, RR is my favorite restaurant...don't be nervous!

Ann, best wishes for DN!

Ladies thanks for all the wishes to my DN.

We are going to Ragland Road in September too. I am nervous because this is our second attempt, the first time the service killed the whole experience.
We decided to give it another try because of all the positive reviews on the DIS.

Our ADRs for September are Yak & Yeti, Kona, Spoodles, Rose & Crown, Ragland Road, Coral Reef, and O'Hana character breakfast for DS.

WFD- DH asked for burgers again...fine with me nice and easy!

Yummm! I hope that you keep stopping ina nd sharing your recipes adn meals ideas.

Anyone hear from Wendie or Stephanie?

*******
Anyone else bored with American Idol this season?

I have not heard anything. I think Wendie must be exhausted, but I am wondering about Stephanie. She has been awfully busy lately.
**************

Yeah, I am not lovin Idol this year either. It is okay but something is missing. Marisa told me yesterday that David A's father is banned from the set. She heard that he goes ballistic if there are any errors and that he was only going to be allowed in the audience last night. :sad2: That was it. I guess he is one of "those" parents. If it is true it really is a shame. That boy has a lot of talent and I cannot imagine how stressful it is to be going head to head with the others. They are a lot older and their life experience has got to help them to deal with the entire thing.

Ladies thanks for all the wishes to my DN.

Ann, we loved 'Ohana for breakfast. The characters are a lot of fun. I had read some less than stellar reviews but we were happy with the food and with the interaction. I hope that you take a lot of pics.

Keep us posted on your niece. I have a special place in my heart for the ladies of softball :thumbsup2

Dinner tonight is easy. We are going to my sisters for a "goodbye" meal to Kim. She leaves this weekend to join the college program in Anaheim. She has not outgrown all of that teen girl thing so teasing her is not always easy, but we are having a lot of fun at her expense. Her boyfriend is stationed at Camp Pendleton, but "that has nothing to do with why I chose DL instead of DW." Of course not. ;)

Good morning! I'm a little sleepy this morning. It was a very loud storm that we had last night and lots of rain.

I'm nervous about RR because of the mixed reviews it seems to be getting. Also downtown dis is too close to "shopping" in A's book. He hates shopping. I keep showing him that they have burgers. He is a self professed expert on burgers and chicken fingers.

Tonight will be chicken something. Something from WW.

Yes I'm back dieting. Our trip is coming up fast and I don't want to scare or scar anyone with the image of me in shorts or :scared1: a swimsuit.:faint:

/
Sheryl, Those tacos look awesome. I am another that has not had fish tacos but the next place I go that has them on the menu, I am going to have to try them.

OMG - that menu looks incredible. We'd have to take a cab but it looks so good. I'm sure reservations are required, can ya tell I'm getting really excited.... :dance3: :yay: :woohoo:

I just ask Tom again what he thought of this place. he said he loved it but not sure if he would go out of his way to go there again...with so many good restaurants in the world.

RR is our favorite, too. Only spot DH requested for our next trip!

Ours too! :thumbsup2

We are going to Ragland Road in September too. I am nervous because this is our second attempt, the first time the service killed the whole experience.

I hope you have a better experience. Our server was a little slow (but running around like nuts) but really nice and helpful. I chalked it up to being busy...and the food that he recommended made up for being slow...

He was banned...I heard he made David change the words to Stand by Me last week and because of copy rights it cost Idol alot of $$$...he also is a pita stage dad.

Have fun to Kim! She will have a BLAST!!!

Janice, Andrew had the fingers and fries and they were soooo good (I had to have a taste)...the ribs, steak, creamed corn were also good. They are best known for their fish dishes since the fish is flown in daily...

And, if they do not give you bread, ask for it. Yummy!

I am the same way with worrying about scaring people with my shorts, etc. I am hoping to lose 10 - 12 #

******************
I am making Sausage, Shells and Peas tonight. Andrew's fav. I will probably make a salad and have some type of bread on the side.

Have a great day all! My finger is alot better today. :thumbsup2

Gina, Here's the Fish Taco Pic, with drinks cause it's 5:00 here!
IMG_0472a.jpg

Wow - thank you for the recipe - and the pic!! :cloud9:
I may have to tweak a few things here and there to please the picky husband - but otherwise it looks great. I'm gonna try it soon!

Does wine help? If so, that's what Dr. Gretchen orders.

There's nothing a little wine can't fix.
There's nothing a little whine can't fix.
I recommend both.

Anyone else bored with American Idol this season?

I think after 7 seasons it just getting VERY predicable.
I do love  David Cook.
I'm also glad they are able to use instruments this season.
I think it helps with the monotony of the show.

We booked a trip for Nov 1-7. Right now have AKL booked; anyone stay there? I wanted an Epcot resort so we'll keep checking back.

We stayed in AKL a couple of years ago for our first anny.
We Loved it!! Its a Moderate Resort with a very lovely theme.
And of course make Sure you get a room with an animal view.
When you call them they will talk to you about which rooms have better views and such - you know disney - they love to help!

Ok here is my current favorite recipie

This sound good. Thanks for posting!
Also - love the pic of the lab! I have a male Chocolate lab - he's about 85 lbs - and he looks a lot like that!
He's in trouble today though - he dug in my flowerbed.

He was banned...I heard he made David change the words to Stand by Me last week and because of copy rights it cost Idol alot of $$$...he also is a pita stage dad.

Have a great day all! My finger is alot better today. :thumbsup2

Glad your feeling better....:thumbsup2
Got to try the wine / whine tips though!

Remember when David sung that song and added the part about "Beautiful Girls" - that's what his dad told him at the last minute to put in. Thats the reason he got in trouble. Copyright issues do cause them a lot of problems and they do everything they can to avoid them just to have some stage dad putting his last ditch efforts into his son's songs. I don't blame Idol for being p***ed about it. I think its funny though!

Last night's Garlic Monkey Bread was really good. DH loved it too!!
Thanks Paint for the idea!! Here's how I ended up doing it:

1 can Grands refrigerated biscuits
1 stick butter - melted (oh yea babe)
2-3 cloves minced garlic
1 teaspoon each - Salt and pepper
2 teaspoons Italian Seasoning
1 cup shredded parmesan cheese (grated would work too)

Melt butter. Add garlic, salt and pepper, and italian seasoning and stir in.
Cut the Grands Biscuits into 4 pieces each. Dip each piece in the butter mixture (making sure the garlic and seasonings are on each piece) then roll them in the shredded parmesan.
Drop the biscuit pieces into a greased or buttered bundt cake pan.
Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes - or until golden brown.
*Note* This recipe made a small layer around the bottom of the pan - but it rose up to make a good 3 or 4 servings worth. You can double the recipe to make a large pan full to feed more!

No idea what's for dinner tonight. May post later when I figure it out. I'm so in the mood for pizza - or a CALZONE (thanks Ann!!)
Hope everyone has a great day!!
Toodles :hippie:

We booked a trip for Nov 1-7. Right now have AKL booked; anyone stay there? I wanted an Epcot resort so we'll keep checking back.

We miss you by one day too. We're going Nov 8-15. Staying at OKW (as if I could get Kenny to try anything different).

And just a PSA. An empty pet carrier and a large body of water are much better for disposal then a freezer. That way you won't have to worry about cross contamination. It stinks, no pun intended, when your dead body smells like fish. ;)

:rotfl: :rotfl: Thank you. Good advice to have. However, if the boy keeps eating the way he is, I'm going to have to invest in a horse trailer. :rotfl: Three huge pieces of country fried steak. Two helpings (large) of rice and gravy and the boy even ate the field peas. About 1 1/2 hours later, he was back in the fridge eating leftover pizza. :scared1: Right now he's still in a 12 slim, but I think that's going to change soon.

We loved RR. And Janice, after A gets a look at that beautiful step dancer in her cute costume, it won't matter what they serve him. ;) Our service was a little slow, but we got so wrapped up in the entertainment we didn't really notice. And my Dad said the bread pudding was the best he had eaten since his grandmother died (about 50 years ago).

My finger is alot better today. :thumbsup2

Glad to hear it. If you need another prescription (wink, wink), be sure to let me know.

That may have to be my new life motto. :rotfl:

Tonight we are having baked pork chops with onion rice. New recipe, so we'll see.

I made ADRs for two character breakfasts - Chef Mickey and Crystal Palace. The princess loves her character breakfasts. Not that she actually eats any of the food. But who cares. Kenny makes up for her. That man loves him some breakfast lasagna.

However, and I hope you are all sitting down, we have decided not to make any other ADRs. I'm going to try to use the kitchen in the villa so we can eat when we want. We are hoping to make our vacation more flexible this way and be able to catch some more of the evening entertainment or hit a water park or something. I'm planning on simple, quick meals and hoping I won't be too exhausted to cook. If so, we have a car and can do takeout from off-site or Giordano's delivery.

Just a quick drive by- on my way to work!
piglet- Glad the garlic bread worked out for you! It is kind of addictive...just a little piece, one more, one more...
hersey- Never been to RR, but did get a fried Snicker's bar at the CS nextdoor. I think it was a Dough Bar? Whatever. It was amazing!

Last night's WFD? I fed the kids pizza. that's right. 2 nights in a row! This one wasn't frozen at least. I brought it from work!

I'll post my ADRs later to see what you think. Gotta' run!

Well now I'm wishing we tried Raglan Road when we were there in January. Oh well, guess I'll have to go back. What I really want is the chicken wrap from Moracco's counter service. I think of that every day, I loved the sauce- it's garlicy.
Tonight we are having boneless pork chops, I'll brush them with dijon then bread them and pan fry or bake. I'm sure frying will win. I have some carrots that probably need to be used and I still need to come up with a starch.
I think I might make baklava soon too, but with just the three of us it will be around for ever. Maybe I'll try freezing some and see what happens. I've also wanted to try putting the filling in those little pre-made phyllo shell and see how that turns out. You all put to many food ideas in my head.

Lauren- My dog need to lose a little weight too. He's doing pretty good, I'm going to take him to the vet next week and see. He's not a big eater, but I'm so scared to let him off the leash, I think he would get lost. (Not the smartest dog I ever had, but so sweet it doesn't matter) He is part chow, so he looks big (round) to begin with and his so hairy I hate to take him on long walks. They're like kids, you love them so much you just want what's best. I could talk about my dog for hours, so I better stop.
Have a good day everyone.

This garlic monkey bread sounds so good ! I may have to try it. Regular cinnamon monkey bread is my SIL thing in our family.

Thank you both for the idea.

I just made a pasta salad to go with the burgers tonight. Rotini, mayo, onion, peas, tuna, celery salt, black pepper, and a small amount of thousand island dressing. Surprisingly it tastes pretty good, I winged it with what I had in the house.

Add a little cheese to the wine/whine and you have a pretty good snack! :thumbsup2

That recipe looks good, I wonder if I can make a lite version.

I hear you on that one, my godsons are like that too.

They participated in a watermelon eating contest this past weekend and the two oldest won. It was quarter slices and the oldest, 14, ate 13 pieces, the 12yo ate 6 1/2 and the 7 yo ate 6.

I LOVE the wine/whine thing! :thumbsup2

We miss you by one day too. We're going Nov 8-15. Staying at OKW (as if I could get Kenny to try anything different).

We are OKW lovers too. We "own" at SSR but like OKW a bit better...:thumbsup2

Andrew has been eating non stop too. He is getting a bit of a belly...because of his height he has been wearing 16/18s at 10yrs!!!:scared1:

I will be asking you for scripts any time something is wrong!!! ;)

There is a thread over on the DVC boards about cooking in your villa...alot of good ideas.
Well now I'm wishing we tried Raglan Road when we were there in January. Oh well, guess I'll have to go back.

Lauren- My dog need to lose a little weight too. He's doing pretty good, I'm going to take him to the vet next week and see.

Riley started his diet today. He is getting 3/4 cup of food a day and maybe some apples in between. I have ordered DH to not give him table food anymore...I catch him sneaking food under the table! I really don't think Riley is fat but the groomer said he is a little chubby for a Shih Tzu. they just worry when he gets older. He goes to the vet in a couple weeks so we'll see what she says.

He was cute and DN was showing him off after the game to the girls...he is quite the little flirt!

It's amazing how early that starts. Liam was like that as a baby too. Your calzone sounds yummy. Good luck to your DN!!

I'm nervous about Raglan rd.

We liked Raglan Road our last trip. Alex will like the burgers...they are good and they are big.

Anyone else bored with American Idol this season?

I think they ran too many auditions at the beginning. I got tired of watching those, but I am entertained now. I like David Cook.

We have wanted to try Blue Zoo, but there is a lot of shellfish on the menu, so we always end up scratching it off our list.

Right now have AKL booked; anyone stay there?

That is where Becky and her husband stay when they go without me and the kids. They really like it.

Ok here is my current favorite recipie

This sounds good to me, and I am not even a big pork chop fan. Thanks!

Our ADRs for September are Yak & Yeti, Kona, Spoodles, Rose & Crown, Ragland Road, Coral Reef, and O'Hana character breakfast for DS.

We love the O'Hana breakfast. I think we drank four pitchers of the Tonga juice last trip (5 adults, 2 kids). Rose and Crown is the kids' favorite restaurant.

We are going to my sisters for a "goodbye" meal to Kim. She leaves this weekend to join the college program in Anaheim.

Good luck to Kim. I am sure she is going to have so much fun.

Merle -- I am glad you had fun at the game, but I am not as happy that it was at the expense of the Red Sox. ;)

I'm going to try to use the kitchen in the villa so we can eat when we want.

We really like having a kitchen...not that we used it nearly as often as we originally planned last trip. It is great for breakfast though, since Liam, in particular, wakes up starving. It was also good for nights when we knew we would be out late because we took a break in the afternoon to eat and relax and then returned to the parks.

Today Caili has skating after school and then Liam has a baseball game after that, so there's no time to cook. We'll probably end up getting subs.

I hope it works out for you, I, on the other hand vow never to cook while on vacation.:goodvibes

We're going to miss you by 1 day.:sad1: We're going 11/8-13.

DARN!

We stayed there and LOVED it. The animals were so amamzing to watch. If you want another opinion I will make sure Nan chimes in. This is her favorite hotel.

We stayed in AKL a couple of years ago for our first anny. We Loved it!! Its a Moderate Resort with a very lovely theme.

Thanks for the reviews! We stay on CM rates and there is slim pickins right now - AKL was my last choice for deluxe hotel, I wanted an EPCOT hotel instead, but we'll keep checking back. In the meantime, the rate was so good that we booked it for now.

We miss you by one day too. We're going Nov 8-15. Staying at OKW (as if I could get Kenny to try anything different).

We love the green bean diet in our house - supplement green beans for kibble. They are filling and low cal so they work really well. My Shih Tzu has been on and off it many times =)

Tonight we're having Swiss Steak in the crockpot, served over rice. I won't be home until late but I got it started this morning so DH could eat when he gets in.
