The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

Gretchen, Jeez Girl! We were ready to send out the search party! I am glad your drought is clearing up! :rotfl: Hope this weekend turns out to be dry for you.

Janice, I have always wanted to make empanadas. Please let us know how the recipe comes.

Rogue, What a great morning!

Kat, No need to thank me...

Sheryl, My God. I  those babies. How freakin adorable!

***
Well, Tom just sent me an itinerary for Take Your Kid to Work Day at his office. It sounds like Andrew is going to EPCOT! They have the day planned out and the kids go to different continents...we just got an "E Travel" ticket and a time for A to get his passport photo taken.

I know alot of people are against this day...the kids do learn about the company as well and then get to spend the day with the parent as well. Last year A came home in a Lab coat telling me all about the drugs that are coming out...its a pharma company.

OK, I am babbling sorry! :)

Sheryl - The babies are too precious!!!!

Lauren - Sounds like Andrew is going to have a great time!!!!!

I wanna go too!:sad1: That sounds like fun....

And welcome back Gretchen. Apparently I picked a good time to be gone (cause you were missing too?). It's a Diet Coke conspiracy!:lmao:

Lauren, Tom's company must be a good place to work, that's a lot of effort they put into Take your Kid to Work Day! :goodvibes

I'm worried about my dove babies, I hope neither one falls out of the nest. The planter is under the patio, concrete underneath.:scared:

Rogue, That's a really nice morning! Sounds like you live in a great place!

Tonight's dinner is finally decided, Arroz Con Pollo.

Sheryl, Can you put hay or mulch or a blanket temporarily? I am sure they will be fine...so adorable!

Yeah, they do a really nice job with Take your kid...I got heat on another thread from a teacher that did not think the day was worth it. :confused3 To each his own, right?

Hi all,

Thanks for remembering me and sending me a link!.
I'm making Shrimp Alfredo for dinner.. Probably with some spinach cooked with vinegar, garlic and sun dried tomatoes on the side..Yummy

/
Recipe please!!!!!

Honestly, I have no official recipe. I will cook(grill) some shrimp in a lot of butter in a large pan, with some butter and garlic..When it's almost done I will add heavy cream, parmegiano reggiano and some parsley and serve over fetucinni sp.?.

Sounds heavenly.:cloud9:

And fattening! I should just save time and rub it on my thighs

:rotfl:

You and me both...my saddlebags are horrible...more like shelves! :lmao:

Good to see you Jenny! How is the home schooling working out? Good I hope.

Does anyone know about Soy Milk that they can tell me the benefits over cows milk in a nutshell?

It's going great..We are actually on a short break now as I plan to have a year roud school schedule..We will do 3 months off one off and that will allow us to travel without it interrupting his schedile. i also like the fact that with only month long breaks he won't lose as much info..
WE are doing a 13 night transatlantic cruise to the UK next april and then will visit friends..We could never do that on a regular schedile..
He won't actually end this school year until the end of July, so he gets some time off now.

I wish I gained weight in my hips & legs, I gain it all in my stomach, which is SO unhealthy. Since I quit smoking I've gained 10 lbs.:scared1: I have been smoke-free for over 6 months now but I look like I'm pregnant.:sad2:

TigerKat-- I just wanted to say good job, six months is great. My husband quit in October (but I gained the weight) and with the money we saved from not smoking, he was able to buy a brand new truck, a really nice one. Cigarettes in MA are $6/pack. He also had to have lung surgery in March, not smoking related, and having already quit really is helping his recovery. My long-winded way of saying great job, that is amazing what you have acomplished.

Thanks so much, it's all good except the darn weight gain!:goodvibes Congrats to your DH and hope he is recovering from surgery with no complications!

Still haven't decided on dinner. I might make empanada's I have and recipe I've been wanting to try. It might be raining when I get off work so the oven might be just the thing.;)

That sounds so yummy. Be sure to let us know how they turned out. Since Kenny won't eat mexican food, I have to live vicariously through all of you. :goodvibes

It sounds pretty cool to me. And I wouldn't worry about what other folks thought of my decision to let him participate. Motherhood is fraught with enough guilt from within - I sure don't need any guilt from elsewhere. Besides, from all your reports, it sounds like you and Tom are doing a great job.

And welcome back Gretchen. Apparently I picked a good time to be gone (cause you were missing too?). It's a Diet Coke conspiracy!:lmao:

I was missing for about a month. Crazy tax time and other crazy family stuff conspired to keep me busy. But I think I now have a handle on things (for the time being). As for the diet coke, well, I'll just say the caffeine was the only thing that kept me going most days. And I thought about you many nights when it was really late and I'd grab another out of the fridge. I remembered all the nights you worked all night in the shop with only your furbaby to protect you.

I'm worried about my dove babies, I hope neither one falls out of the nest. The planter is under the patio, concrete underneath.:scared:

Sheryl, the babies are really, really cute! I don't know if you should worry or not. My sister had a dove lay her eggs in one of her ferns last year (hanging in what sounds like a similar place). No casualties to report unless you count the girls' broken hearts when they were all gone.

:lmao: :lmao: I know just what you mean unfortunately. :sad2:

That is quite a milestone girlfriend! And for the record, from everything I've read, 10 lbs is a modest weight gain post-smoking. My Dad gained....well, I'm not sure because he wouldn't say, but he went up 2 sizes and my Mom gained 20 lbs (on her short frame). She ended up losing hers at Weight Watchers. And besides, I'm SURE you don't look pregnant.

Rogue - what a cool morning!

Howdy ya'll! Did ya miss me?!? I tell ya, ya'll gotta quit moving around so much (no offense Lindsay- I love you!). Or are you just hoping I'll show up at the old place and not be able to find you? My grandparents threatened that when I was a kid....:lmao:

Well, with one thing then another we haven't gotten internet hooked back up at home, but thankfully (thankfully?!?) my cell phone is dying a pitious death and the new one is web enabled- I can DIS on the go!:rotfl2:

On a sad note- we lost our best friend over Easter.

You bet your were missed! It was too quiet here!

I am so sorry about about your friend. You cannot even describe that empty feeling.

Ah crud! I pulled a Nancy and forgot to post dinner!;) :rotfl2:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Anyway, it's good to be back myself and catch up with everyone. I read through almost everything I missed -

Welcome Back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks so much, it's all good except the darn weight gain!:goodvibes

Never mind the weight gain, 6 months is a milestone!

Lauren :hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

Sheryl- Those babies are so cute. Thanks for sharing.

I know I missed a lot, Kady has a play date and those two are up to something!

Jenny, Glad you stopped by! That trip next year sounds wonderful!

Gretchen & Lauren, We've had dove babies in the backyard a couple of times now. But usually they're on the ground in my ginger lilies. This is the 1st time they're up in the air!

Alexis is having fun watching the babies, she can stand on the patio table & get a bird's eye view!

Lauren, I don't know enough about the soy milk to offer advice. But that Silk brand does taste good. I go back & forth on it, Bob won't drink it, so it usually ends up going to waste.

Kathy, Maybe you've gained a few lbs. but I'll bet your lungs look great! :thumbsup2 Good Job!

Hey all! Finally got a moment to let ya'll know that I found my way over! Thanks Lauren for the PM!

Kathy--that bolognese was awesome! DH actually thought it was jarred sauce. I said, "Uh, no, I did it all myself (with a little WFD friend help)" He said I could do that one at least once a week.

Tonight is going to be a philly cheesesteak (sorta) recipe from Cooking Light--we'll see, if it's good I'll post it tomorrow

I've been spending the day reworking our fall Disney trip. We had planned on going for a long weekend in Sept and then again for a week in Jan. with my sis and niece. Well, we (actually DH) realized that it would be much cheaper if we travelled with the whole crew before my niece and DS turned 3 (gotta love that they're still 2!). So now we're going the last week of August for 5 nights and then just a weekend in January. Can't wait!
