The All-New "unofficial" AKL/AKV's Jambo & Kidani FAQ thread.....

I am preparing to book our first stay at AKL for December.:cool1: I think we are going for a pool view room, so are there any requests I should make? I want a quieter room so should I ask for an upper floor? Also, is it possible to request a view of the Flamingo Pond? And since I'm in a questioning mood:lmao: I'll ask a dining question. We have eaten at Boma for dinner before and really enjoyed it. We are planning to fully appreciate this resort since it is our first stay at a deluxe. Right now I'm planning on Jiko for dinner one night and Boma for breakfast. I also want to do either Sanaa or Boma for dinner as well, so which of those two does anyone suggest?

We prefer Boma for breakfast, love Jiko, and I'd do Sanaa for the other meal so you get to experience all three. Kidani is beautiful.

This will be us, too when we stay there in September. We LOVE Jiko, have enjoyed Boma, though will be doing that for breakfast, just to give it a try. Who knows still may do dinner there, too. :rotfl:But also looking forward to doing Sanaa and seeing Kidani as a new experience. :goodvibes

We have stayed at Jambo so many times and it is our "home". In June we are stying at Kidani. I have been there before for a tour and have eaten at Sanaa (have that scheduled again) but are there any little things i should know? Like at Jambo they have story hour etc. Anything like that at Kidani?TIA.

... as far as dining, we've done both Sanaa and Boma for dinner and I wish you could do both.

Sounds like you have good reasons to choose Sanaa over Boma for this trip. But, one other option to consider is Sanaa for Lunch -- the savannah views are even better and you'd still have a dinner open for Boma.

Okay, I am sure this information is SOMEWHERE on this website but I haven't found it yet....can someone explain to me what options (if any) we have for a safari if we are staying in a savannah view (not club/concierge level). I keep seeing the options for CL but can't seem to find out what the other options are. Thanks!

you can go on the sunset safari - its called wanyama safari...I called 407-938-4755 to reserve it, dinner at Jiko is included and you can book it 180 days out!

Thanks for the info :) Any idea if there is a minimum age or height requirement? Our son is 5. Thanks!

Another question regarding check-in, we are booked for AKL at the end of September, checking in on a Monday. Our flights arrive at 9am on Monday morning. What are our chances of getting to check-in early? Thanks!

We just booked our first stay at the AKL and booked Savannah view with bunk beds. It was cheaper, but now we are really struggling with the thought that we should've booked Arusha view. We really want our girls to see giraffes out of our balcony. Should I call tomorrow and switch to the Arusha? Does anyone have any suggestions on requests for what floor or trail? I am so clueless about this resort. Thanks so much!!:)

I've stayed on the Sunset Savannah twice and had lots of giraffe viewing each time. I think seeing animals is more about spending time at the resort (especially in the afternoon) and less about specific location.

If you want to just look out and see animals at all times, you'll be disappointed. If you spend time relaxing on your balcony, you'll end up seeing lots.

WooHoo!!!!:banana:It's official. We are booked for four nights at AKL in December. I'm so excited. We have been there several times to walk around and to eat dinner at Boma, so it will be no nice to finally stay there. We'll even have one whole day with nothing much planned to enjoy everything.:hippie:

Is there anyone around who's stayed at AKL on the Platinum Plan? We will be doing so in August and I have a few questions:

Are Platinum guests booked into a specific area of the hotel? If not, should I be requesting something specific? I believe we have a standard (?) room and honestly we won't be at the resort much with the "Platinum Party" (what we're calling our itinerary!) we have planned!!

Is access to the lounge included for Platinum guests?

I have read about taxi vouchers... does anyone know about these? Are they part of the Platinum plan that I missed?

TIA for any help!

Leaving in the morning for kidani village. One last question. Am I allowed to bring a small soft cooler out to the pool with water and juice?

we looked into this extensively for our last trip and i called akl ipo. No, guests on the platinum package are not placed in specific rooms. You are given the room type you booked, no matter if you add on ddp, platinum package, etc.

is access to the lounge included for platinum guests?

i was told, no. I've also read where others we told no at akl....however, i've also read where other guests were allowed.

no idea on taxi vouchers.

tia for any help!

Of course! You can even put something stronger in that cooler. :rotfl2:

Have a great trip! :goodvibes

Yes. The restriction is that there not be glass in the cooler (or in things brought to drink the stuff from the cooler out of).
