I know! That's what he said. I was seriously ok with pool view after I saw pictures on here, but since there weren't any...... oh well, I guess we'll HAVE to have a savanna view...twist my arm

I was just curious....I hear that the further away from the lobby you go, the better your savannah view is, but that it can be quite a far walk. If you end up in the very end of the trail, furthest from the lobby, how far are we talking to walk to the lobby? the busses? When we stayed at the WL, we had the second to last room at the very end towards the water, and it took us at least 10 mins to get to the boats to the MK, but I didn't find it a bad walk. Lots to see as you walk by. I'm wondering if the AKL rooms are further, or about the same? Can you see animals as you are walking by?

We've always stayed between rooms 4501 and 4515 which are about half-way (on map) on the Zebra Trail. Never clocked it but I can vouch for being able to see animals on way to lobby.

I know last year guests of AKL could use the pool/splash area at AKV; is that still the case? Has AKV now locked off its pool from AKL guests the same way BLT's pool is locked off from CR guests?

Guests at Jambo can use amenties including pool at Kidani and vice versa, nothing has changed.

We've booked a savanna view room for July and I'm trying to decide which (if any) requests we should make. Here are some of the things we're interested in.

I'm a creature of convenience, so my fear is that we'll get stuck all the way out on the far end of Kudu Trail and be far from the busses. We'd like to be centrally located to the busses, lobby, and Mara (I know the busses are down the hill and won't be 'close,' but closer than the far end of Kudu would be nice )

We also love giraffes (maybe it's because we're tall ) From the pictures I've seen it looks like Sunset & Arusha both have them. Is that accurate?

We also would like to be on an upper floor.

We don't ask for much, do we?

Any suggestions for a request that would satisfy all of these (or most) items?

We currently have a BLT 1-bedroom reservation, but DH is deploying to Afghanistan and won't be able to join us so it'll be just me and DD11. I'm going to change our reservation and try a couple of "new-to-us" Deluxes: AKL/4nts. and YC/7nts, but I need some help with my room location request.

What do you think of this SV room request:

"Zebra or Kudo Trail, high floor, please."

I'd prefer a location with plenty of animals and a balcony that's far away from a DSA and noisy areas such as a pool. What would you request (WWYR).

Oops, by "SV" I meant Savanna View, not Standard View - sorry for the confusion. And, I already answered one of my questions - by printing the AKL map, I can see that there aren't any DSAs anywhere near the Savanna View balconies, so that won't even be an issue

What is a DSA?

We're trying to make a similar request and I asked for suggestions too. I think we want to do Zebra trail, 3rd floor, and we'd like to be in the first 2 'beads of the necklace,' but I don't know how to state that

Yes, thanks F'burg. (I'll have to be on the look-out for your plate.) I think they now call them "Designated Smoking Location," but they used to be "Areas" or "DSAs".

I made the mistake once of carefully researching our last Poly longhouse request, but I forgot to take the DSAs into consideration and we ended-up exactly where I requested, but with the smokers' bench practically right below our balcony.

Looking at the AKL map, it seems there are only 3 DSAs: The pool/spa area, the walkway to the Mara and in front of the entrance.

That was actually our first choice of view (I know, gasp!) It almost guarantees you a fairly centrally located room to the pools, Mara, and busses, and the pics I've seen on here are so pretty. It's a great value considering it's only $10 more a night and the savanna view is $80 more When we called the only options were standard and savanna, so we splurged for savanna so we didn't have to look at a parking lot

Umm, in my first post I actually was asking about Savanna View room location requests and I mentioned not wanting a pool view because I don't like the noise, but I'm glad you like the Pool View.

Anyway, this evening I booked a Savanna View and requested a location (without DISer guidance); I requested Zebra or Kudo Trail, high floor.

Since this will be our first AKL stay, let me know the must-dos/sees for me and DD11.
