... and the once you stay at AKL, it's tough considering staying anywhere else!!

Which is why - in about 11 hours - I'll be walking into the lobby!!:dance3:

Cool!!!!
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

In 48 hours, we'll be getting ready to board our plane to MCO!!!

It'll be our first stay at AKL/AKV. I am so very excited!
:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

We also decided to stay at AKL after we at dinner at Boma's last year. CSR is were we stayed last year and it was very nice, but AKL just keeps calling my name!! :goodvibes

I have to admit that I was not big on AKL at first, but DH really wanted to stay there, so I relented...and discovered that I absolutely loved loved loved it!!! (Yes, I had to hear 'I told you so' multiple times on that trip)

:lmao::lmao:

That was two years ago and we decided to rent DVC points last year for our trip, but couldn't get AKLV for our dates, so we went with OKW and we were so disappointed our whole trip. We ate at Boma that week and we just walked around AKL all depressed that we weren't staying there.

We had to skip WDW this year due to a new baby, but you know we are staying at AKL in 2010!!!!

I always said that I'd like to try out a new resort each time we go, but AKL ruined it for me. I fell in love!

...And another one falls! I think that they must get so many of us to check AKL out because of Boma!!!:cloud9: Once we walked into that lobby and checked out the savanna we knew that AKL would be our next resort, no matter what! Until I walked in, I just didn't get it. The photos, although very good, never seem to capture the intangible things that make AKL such a special place!:love:

We fell hard! We had dinner at Boma and loved it so much we bought into DVC. Our new home is AKV-Kidani.

We will be there Sunday for our first stay and are so excited! How ridiculous will I look standing in the Lobby crying?

I have to agree that this is the only resort that we will probably ever stay at. I put my hubby through countless hours of research and pics of all of the resorts and this is the only resort we totally fell in love with! It definitely is worth the money! I can't wait for our first trip! :lovestruc

Thanks for this I was afraid the balconey were like at SSR where you can walk right on to the grass. So now I really don't care what floor.

That's wonderful!! It seems that Boma is a wonderful advertisement for AKL. So many people come for the first time because of Boma and then end up staying at AKL on the next trip. Happened to me as well! :goodvibes

Those eggs sound wonderful. Hope you have another fantastic meal there again soon!! :thumbsup2

funny you mention that. we stay at AKL in Jan 2008. my daughter was just 5 at the time. we are going next month and staying at AKL again. One of her first requests.... Mom can we go to the restaurant that had the good eggs and yummy juice again!! Clearly it made an impression on her too. hehe

for our trip i thought to maybe save some money and i booked regular room. now i'm still having my inner debate if i should have gone savannah or not. i think my problem is that the first (and only)time we stayed we did savannah. so that's all i can picture.

anyway... has anyone ever gone and part way through the trip upgraded room from where they were staying. i'm wondering if maybe that isn't an option.

Sounds like they should lower the price at Boma to fill the resort!;) AKV Kidani looked amazing when we visited it in August!!! I'd want to buy into it, too, if it wasn't so far from where I live... Have a fantastic trip!:goodvibes

You could definitely try when you are there. Also, have you considered a pool view room? It's not much more $$$ than a standard room, but it will be conveniently located to the pool and has no chance of a parking lot/bus stop view!:goodvibes

Ditto on that! Although, I still might like to be up a bit higher just for a better view. :)

So excited to be checking into Kidani tomorrow! Anybody have any last minute advice on what room requests to make? We have a 1 bedroom Savanna View booked......I know my DD would love to see the zebras, and we also plan on frequenting the pool a lot. Any suggestions? Thanks!:yay::dance3:

I've heard that 3rd or 4th floor, zebra trail is a good one to ask for, but I don't know where the 1BR suites are located. And I have no clue how far the distance is from the pool. It looks like the pool is on the opposite side of the building from the zebra trail savannah rooms. http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/aklmap.htm

Thanks for the help with the maps. I think maybe a little to the left of the lobby would be good to be close to the pool as well as the lobby. Hopefully the zebras will also be in that area.

For those that have rented points, do you also get to use the laundry facilities for free or do you have to be an actual DVC member?

Also, where is the laundry room for Jambo house? :laundy:

Thanks:goodvibes

I posted this in restaurant forum but then I thought that you folks know everything about AKL so.....
This trip I will have a baby with us. Is it possible to order room service from Jiko and how do I order....in case we need to go back to resort room early.
Thanks for any help

You can. You just call the same in-room dining number and tell them that you want to order from Jiko. There is a significant up-charge for doing so (it seems like it may have been around 30%), and you can't use dining credits for it.

Thanks for the quick reply...I did want to use dining credits...I thought that I read a dining review about GF and I thought that the poster claimed he used the dining plan when ordering from Narcoossee's in room dining:confused3
oh well....need plan B

Does anyone know the hours for the Community Hall? We will be checking in tomorrow for a one-night stay at Jambo House. My daughter is off from school on Monday for a teacher work day and we surprised her with the stay....looking forward to a relaxing pool day! From what I understand the DVC studio villas are on the 5th and 6th floors? Thanks!!
