Hi, we will be staying at AKL in a few weeks in Jambo house. We will still be able to use the new pool at Kidnani even though we're not staying over there right? Anybody know how far the walk is?

it will be a long walk unless they have a walkway through the back - which i didn't see, but wasn't looking for either. We had to go there as bus service started Friday and it was not as though they were connected. I didn't see exact locations, but I would think it would be a bit of a walk from one to the other.

Lucky you!!! Have a wonderful vacation.:cool1:

Thanks. we had a great time. The resort is beautiful and a lot of fun. Two "unplanned cleanings of the pool", so that was a bit of a downer, but other than that we had a great time.

Hmm...maybe I missed those pizzas completely? I just saw the flatbreads and kids pizzas.

Nope, you didn't miss it, they did not have pizza by the slice available (at least not last week). You can order a whole pizza, but not by the slice. They have the flatbreads and they were pretty good. You can ask for pepperoni on the flatbread and they will put it on there for you.

I thought I read somewhere that they now have zebra's on the sunset savannah - and now I can't find that post.

Does anyone whose stayed there recently know if they do or don't????:confused3

We going in June and staying in a 2BR concierge level and am hoping we'll be lucky enough to get a savannah view.:cool1:

Thank you

I think all CL rooms have a savannah view.

:rotfl: I hate it when that happens.

All AKL CL rooms are facing the Arusha Savanna. However, not all of the AKV CL suites (the DVC ones) have savanna views.

Good point :thumbsup2 Thanks.

Hi all, I'm new to the AKL board and this is my first time to post! I'm planning our first trip to the lodge in January 2010 and there will be three little girls age 5 in our party. Looking over the list of AKL activities offered during the day, I see many that look very interesting and I think the girls would enjoy them. It says that the list was updated September 2006. Are the activities and times still mostly the same or have their been any changes? I'm interested in the bead activities. Does anyone have any pictures of the beads earned from these? I'd really appreciate any info anyone can give me! Thanks! :goodvibes

Hello fellow Okie! Im from Norman! We, too, will be at AKL in Jan 2010! I can hardly wait! We are staying club level for the first time, and when I asked about the kids activities she said they had changed, as of last month. We did some of the bead activities when we were there before & loved them. Here's what she told me:
"Bush Camp is done a little differently now. Since we have opened our new building, Kidani Village, they have moved the Bush Camp over to that location as part of the activities that are held every week. The activity is called Camp Kidani and it is held every day from 9-11am and 5:30-7:30pm. They have not released the prices for this event yet as it is free for the 1st month that Kidani is open. They will be offering 12 activities that are on a rotating schedule and Bush Camp is offered on Saturday night. We will be able to book it before you arrive once they have finalized the details of all the offerings. If the children do all the activities the children will become junior savanna guides. It really is a great new experience that we are offering to our guests."
I will e-mail her again tommorow & double check the details on the bead activities that I have done before. She did mention that the activities at Kidani are very similar to the bead activities from before. I hope they still have some of the original ones at the main lodge! We loved these! By the way, you should definately let them see the Flamingo feedings. My DD loved this! :lovestruc

Thanks so much for the info! I hope they still have activities in the lodge too :confused3 If I see someone in a sooners hat I'll say hi!

Haha! Whenever we travel, my DH always makes sure to pack several OU hats/shirts. If you see a big, burly guy with a long goatee & a bald head, sporting an OU hat you're in the presence of Pirate Momma's DH! :lmao:
I'll let you know what I find out about the bead activities!

When I asked this question to the IPO yesterday, I was told that there are new, additional activities at Kidani & that they did not take away any of the activities from Jambo. I can't verify this yet, however, but I really do hope that it is true.;)

I just e-mailed the IPO that I have been talking to this week & asked her just that! The only activity I know for sure that has been moved to Kidani is the Bush Camp. That is now a part of the daily activities there, and it's offered twice on Saturdays. I sure hope that there are still activities offered in the main lodge!! I'm sure I'll find out soon-the IPOs are so friendly! Then I'll share that info with my DIS friends... ;)

As far as I know ther should be a special DVC laundry room - sorry I can't help with the location for that, perhaps the people on the DVC board would know.

For room location, I would suggest to request Zebra trail. This is the side of the lodge, where the pool and the Mara, the counter service restaurant are.
