::yes:: That's also why plastic straws are not allowed at AKL or AK. The paper straws work well, but my kids don't care for them!

Thanks Pilferk

I guess we won't pack the balloons then

Oh wow I didn't know about the straws either - not that I am packing those

...The first 2 days was like they kidnapped all the animals but the bunnies! Hubby was actually getting excited about seeing bunnies:rotfl2:
tHAT IS HILARIOUS!!

If it was our first stay we would have been really upset. But all was well....we just walked the hotel to see what we wanted. I think we visited every staircase from the bottom to the top. We were places I didn't know existed! The maids were looking at us funny after awhile:rotfl:

You have a really good attitude :thumbsup2 I totally understand. We have stayed at AKL a bunch and absolutely LOVE it there. But a first stay in a savannah view room with very few animal sightings would be a bad thing

Can't wait to be back at the Lodge later this summer :cool1:

thanks
how awesome!!

I'm getting sooooooo excited

I think once we get there I may want to spend more time in the hotel then I anticipated and maybe cut down on our park time!

You are going to love the resort. We spent quite a bit of "down time" there. We would have liked more but the parks were calling our daughters names. Hopefully next time we won't run my husband ragged. Everything about AKL is wonderful from the moment you pull up. Don't forget to try Boma for breakfast. You don't really need a reservation, but we made one to be safe, it was great. My only mistake, not ordering the pressed pot coffee. I am so excited for you, I can't wait to go back! Any questions just ask.

Patti

Hi
Can anyone who has just come back tell us what their room number was for their standard concierge room? We are staying in a standard concierge room in August and I was hoping for a room further out on the Zebra or Kudu wing but I think the conceirge rooms are closer to the lobby? Also I thought I read that the conceirge rooms had been updated with the flat screen TVs..can anyone confirm? Thanks a bunch!

This is our first trip and so I'm not quite sure what our family's stamina will be like in the parks. But my goal is to wake up bright and early and get to the parks by Rope Drop then go back to AKL when we are too tired and then go back. We have an ADR at Boma for Dinner ~i can't wait to try the Zebra Domes! I made one on our check out day for the latest possible breakfast time (but by then we will have used up our DDP and will have to pay out of pocket so we were just gonna wait and see on that.) Most days we plan on having breakfast in the room.

Does anyone know about the bunkbed savannah view rooms? As in, if they are spread out throughout the resort, or mainly located in a few areas, or anything?

We love Boma so much that we have ADR's for dinner twice in one week! :cool1:
Jiko is also awesome.

We had breakfast once at Boma and it was ok, not all that different from other buffet breakfast places at WDW. We had been hoping for more African inspired breakfast dishes. However, the pressed pot of coffee....omg, so so good. :thumbsup2

They are definitely not close to the lobby. We were the last wing on the Kudu trail! Ask for the furthest room on the zebra trail. It's a closer walk to everything. You cannot request specific rooms, so don't even bother.

It wasn't worth getting upset over. We saw animals from other locations. We spent most of our 3 days touring the resort. We were told after the first 2 days that there was painting going on so that's why there weren't many animals there. I would have been upset if it was my first visit. Especially when all the animals were over on the zebra trail!

We had one and didn't ask for one and we were on the 4th floor arusha savana. I would think they are all over the resort with so many being in each location.

Zebra Domes are also available in the refrigerator case of The Mara! :cloud9:

I have a question about room service at AKL. My husband and I are eating a Jiko one night and the kids are going to spend some time at Simba;s clubhouse. This is going to leave me with 2 children's table service meal credits left over. I'm trying to figure out a way to use them and I thought I could maybe order room service for breakfast one day. Do they have kids meals on the in room dining. That would take care of the 2 credits I have for each of our children. I have not been able to find any menus for the in room dining. Any ideas?

Yes they do. I think inroom dining is 2 credits. They have 3 mini pancakes with choice of meat/ 1 egg potatoe and meat / one waffle with meat / and 2 french toast with meat.

Does anyone know if the AKL is scheduled for a remodel to add the flat screen tvs?

Just back this afternoon. We did the Sunrise Safari last Sunday and it was very interesting. Was on Kudu Trail Room #4317. Way too far down the hall for me. Still had a good time. Was better after we discouvered the quickest ways to get around. Bus service was excellent. Do I want to stay there again? Not sure. I'll have to think about it.

COming out of lurkdom! I am getting confliciting reports on the bus service. DH was looking forward to not driving but others are saying rent a car. Any advice?

Although we've only used it once, we found out that using your car from AKL is fastest to get just about anywhere on property. Buses are great for those who do not want to rent a car and fly in to Orlando, but for those that rent cars, we use it to go everywhere. Quicker to get to/from hotel; hands down.
