You have to physically go and check in. But POP will move your luggage to AKL for you.

:)

AND, on that note, it means you don't REALLY need to check in until later in the day. You CAN...and some argue that the good rooms are assigned earlier, so better to check in earlier...but you don't HAVE to.

We're going to be doing this in December. 2 nights at ASM, in a family suite. Then to AKV for the rest of the trip. We haven't decided HOW we're going to handle it, exactly, but I know the day we move we're planning on going to Animal Kingdom, which is at least close by.

when they move your luggage for you how does that work?
how much in advance do you make arrangements to have it taken to the next resort, and do they just hang on to it at the new resort til you get back to your room?... we will be staying 2 nights at CR (yes I know I need to change my ticker):rolleyes1 then 5 nights at OKW, then 2 nights at AKL

We arrive at AKL in 7 days, club level. Have never stayed club level or at AKL. Have only been to AKL once to eat. So, instead of checking in at the regular registration desk, do we check in at the concierge counter? Where is it located? Anything else we should know about?

Go to the Bell Services desk (when you enter the lobby, it is on the left). Give them your information. They will take you up to the 6th floor lounge. The CMs in the lounge will handle everything. :goodvibes

Enjoy your stay at the AKL!:woohoo:

Call bell services the night before and explain what you are doing. They'll arrange to move it but it may take several hours so make sure you have with you anything you might need access to during the day. They'll keep your luggage in storage until you are in your new room. Then you call to have it delivered.

I have a pool view rm reserved. I have requested to be on an upper flr. Are there any good/bad locations of pool view rms? is there a certain section that I should request?

TIA

Thanks John's Mom.

I had this really weird dream last night about checking in. It had to do with going into this room with a CM and then the room started moving and kinda changed into a monorail type thing. Then the doors opened up right into our room. It just got more weird from there.:scared1:

I am so excited about this trip. I have let IPO do all the work and it has been so easy. They have been excellent.

I just read on another thread that breakfast is no longer at Tusker House following the sunrise safari? does anyone know where breakfast is now?:confused3

Great photos !!:thumbsup2 How about a report on how you liked the Safari and what you saw and did? Was there much about behind the scenes animal care? What time did you meet at the Concierge Lounge? What time did you leave there? Etc, etc. Would love all the details !!:cool1:

well that makes me feel a bit better after seeing the pics...thanks for posting them

Well, I see my pictures are getting a work-out today!!! :rotfl:

Details. You check in w/the Concierge staff on the 6th floor about 6:45-7:15am. They have to scan your park ticket or AP. Everyone meets in the lobby - there will be 2 guides to greet you there. Somewhere around 7:15-7:30 you board the bus with your guide and head over to AK.

On the bus ride over, you will go through the backstage area and your guide will give you some insider information. (Just to digress here a moment - for anyone who really wants to get a backstage experience at AK, the "Backstage Safari" which is a 3 hour tour open to anyone age 16 & older (not just resort guests), is awesome. "Wild by Design" is supposed to be 'worthy' too, but I haven't done that tour yet.)

Back to the Sunrise: Now you're in the park and you follow your guide to Kilimanjaro Safari where you will board the regular ride vehicle (at this time the park isn't yet open). It's the Kilimanjaro Safari ride (without the Big Red/Little Red storyline!) and lots of information about the animals. You'll make frequent stops for great picture opportunities, plus you have the privilege of asking the real experts (your guides!) any questions you might have. :thumbsup2

After the ride (it's usually close to or already 9am by now) the group heads over to Pizzafari for that awesome breakfast. Once everyone has found their seat, the chef will explain the dishes, then everybody digs in!! There are lots of happy people at this point and it's a very social environment! When you've finished eating (and socializing) you're free to go explore the park. The Sunrise Safari is over. :sad1:

Thanks Laura:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

TTFN

You're very welcome! :goodvibes

do they still give you a FP for the safari ride afterwards?

I don't think so....... I've heard others say "no" and they didn't give us one in April. The guide did mention that we should get a FP if we wanted to take the "regular" ride later in the day. :confused3

Now, there were families where one of the adults took their party's tickets and made a quick run up to the EE FP distribution while the rest of the group headed to Pizzafari! (maybe some did it for Kilimanjaro too!) :) And none of the "FP runners" missed any of the meal either!

Are you allowed to take food and drink from the lounge and eat in your room/balcony or do you have to eat it there in the lounge? I know they are on different floors.
