The *ALL NEW* Polynesian Resort FAQ thread - *APRIL 2009*

I was just wondering is it brand new for guests going to the Spirit of Aloha to line up on the 1st floor of the GCH? Earlier this month on one of the nights my family and I went to visit the Polynesian the line up of guests for the show was huge. In fact while we were sitting on those benches by the bathrooms next to Captin Cook's one of the people in the line made some funny comment about all the people going to the show.

When we were there in December for the Spirit of Aloha dinner, I remember that we lined up on the ground floor of the GCH too. Then we went en masse to the area of the dinner show where they requested your reservation name and took your picture.

Yay its official I have just booked 14 nights for our v first stay at the Poly, cannot wait as we love the Poly and have always want to stay here :jumping1:

Off to go do some research on the Longhouses now :goodvibes

14 nights at the Poly!!! Wow!!!

^^^We were thinking of doing a split stay with AKL, but it would cost more because we would have to pay for 2 lots of 7 day tickets. But I am glad it is all Poly because I think it is an awesome resort.

I have been doing some research on TikiMan (v helpful site) and have narrowed it down to 3 Longhouses that we like the look/sound of, there are:-

Aoteroa
Tokelau
Tuvalu

DF likes the sound of Aoteroa, but I wanted to get your guys opinions on these LH's :)

We like to be in a quiet area, but not too far from food or transportation (not too fussed about being too far away from TTC)

So then it's not something brand new. Although when my family and I stayed there in December 2007 and all the other times we went to visit if the show was happening, we had never seen that before.

I think the Poly is a great resort, too! 2 weeks is really nice! We did a split with AKL in April that was wonderful, but we didn't have to buy 2 sets of tickets... I guess it just depends what kind of package you have.

We stayed in Hawaii, so I can't help with the buildings. But the Poly is lovely and I hope you have a wonderful time there!:goodvibes

I never noticed it either. We probably never went to the GCH at that time? We've been in there taking photos, watching the tiki torch lighting ceremony, waiting for 'Ohana and shopping and never stumbled upon a big crowd of people waiting for the show.

Just 24 more sleeps til our 5 night stay at the Poly Theme Park View!

:cool1::cool1:

AND I was able to snag Wishes Dessert Party ressies for our stay!

Getting VERY excited!

Oh wow congrats on getting the Dessert Party tix, I hear those are really hard to get at the mo. Hope you had a fab time :)

Stefy - we stayed in Aotearoa two years ago and it was very nice - we had a third floor room with a MK view, so we saw the fireworks every night. I didn't think the walk to the GCH was too far (our kids were 2 and 4 at the time and I was 4 months pregnant). We didn't go to the pool when we were there, so I can't speak to that. I thought it was a gorgeous and very relaxing place.

Well then maybe it's a brand new thing, because a Photo Pass Cast Members was also taking pictures of everyone at that Boutiki store next to that thing at the side entrance.

Thanx for that, it does look like a great location. How cool that you could watch Wishes from your room. We are staying in a GV, do you know where those rooms are mostly situated in that LH?

Apologies for the randomness of my question but I was wondering where I can get one of those pineapple cocktails from - is it a lapu lapu or something?

I keep seeing photos of them and now its on my must do list. We are not staying at the poly but we plan on going resort hopping and hitting the gift shops :yay:

Is there a bar where we could get one of these - or can you only get them during a meal in one of the restuarants?

You can get them in the Tambu lounge by Ohana's. Enjoy, they are so good. :thumbsup2 They are on my must do list too.

Thankyou so much for your help  Do you have any idea what time the lounge opens? Just trying to plan a visit :thumbsup2 Have a feeling they will end up on our must do list for every future trip too

Unless something has changed, and at Disney something is always changing, it opens at 1:00 PM. If you go at night you can grab a lapu lapu and head down to the beach to watch the EWP and Wishes.:lovestruc We also like to stop by in the afternoon during our break time.:rotfl2:
