Well my trip almost here:cool1: . I must say thank you to everyone for posting all of the great info. We can't wait to get there. I can't wait to swim in the pool, have a few drinks, and relax on the beach. We have been planning for so long at it is finaly here. I won't be checking in when we are there. I'll let everyone know how our trip went when we get back. Talk to you then.
:dancer::dancer::dancer::dancer:

Sounds lovely, enjoy every minute of it and have a safe trip!

A quick question...how much does it cost to use the washer and dryer for a load of laundry. I thought I could wash some clothes when we are spending an afternoon at the pool.

TIA:flower3:

It is $2.00 per washer and $2.00 per dryer - however, it sometimes takes more than one dryer cycle to get the clothes dry.

Also, do not use the stacked dryers that are on the wall to your right as you enter the room. They are worthless! The single dryers are much better. They actually get too hot almost.

I was wondering if it's worth the extra money to get a lagoon view room? What are the views like? can you see any fireworks at night or the EWP? what buildings have the best lagoon view?

Hi everyone!

Finally settled down enough to write down my thoughts about the Poly. I was going to put them all in my TR but decided against doing one for this trip.

We stayed July 19-26 in a GV CL room. We'd moved there after 3 nights at the AKL. While we missed the savanna view, our Poly room felt HUGE in comparison to our room at the lodge - even with 5 in this room. Poly room was a little bit darker than our AKL room (we almost always kept the lights on - even during the day) but the space more than made up for that. We also had that mini-kitchenette area between the closets and loved it!

The lounge was very nice and we watched Wishes from there one night (even met a fellow DISer - Hi Tinkerbelle60) but moved down to the beach the next night as there was no music in the lounge.

Food in the club was good and pretty generous. I think I didn't like breakfast as much here as I did at the lodge. Slightly smaller selection, no Nespresso only Nescafe, no pineapple (in Hawaii, lol). But the evening offerings were great. I'd have been ashamed of how many sticky wings my cousins ate if Chef Dick hadn't given me a tray and insisted I take even more to the girls at the pool. Thanks a lot for helping me to spoil them even more on this trip.:lmao:

Concierge was great and they were very helpful in removing my baby lizard visitor from the room right away, i.e. before my mom could come back to the room, see him and pass out. They also were a big help in cancelling ADRs when our plans changed.

It took a while to get used to the difference between the hotels, but the Poly was very beautiful. I walked back to my room late one night and really enjoyed the atmosphere. With the music softly playing and the torches lit... it felt like I was in the tropics.

This was my 1st monorail resort and I completely understand the draw now - VERY convenient.

Amazing views of the castle from here. I have some great shot of the girls making sand castles with THE castle in the background.

I made the mistake of asking someone across the hall if I could just take a look at their lagoon view - WHY did I do that!!! Of course it was BEAUTIFUL!!! Worth every penny they charge, IMHO, and it's not very often you'll hear me say that about Disney. Unfortunately now I think I've gotta book it... lol.

A great trip that I'd do again (with the new view of course).

Okay guys....maybe because I am working crazy hours I am cracking up :confused3 I could swear that when I looked it up last night and there was two seperate standard rooms for GV. Now there is just one. There was like a $30 per night difference. I am pretty sure about what I saw.

I am sorry if I confused anyone.

But I stand by my original statement that the seasons are nuts!

The WDW site drives me bonkers!!!

Hi Breezysmom! Don't worry about confusion, from what I've seen, looks like it was there but now isn't...maybe they're still working on it??? Guess i'll keep my eyes peeled!

Congrats on booking! :cheer2:

Honestly I think because of the length and the cost, you're better off skipping the Spirit of Aloha with your DD4 until she's older. My DD was 6 when we saw the show and while she does generally love shows, she didn't like it enough to want to go again but she was old enough and interested enough to see the entire show. It was pretty expensive and frankly, we would have had more fun eating at Kona and watching the torch lighting ceremony. I'm glad we did it to say we did. :thumbsup2

I like this idea about dinner at Kona then watching the torch lighting! I think this vacation I am going to do one character meal and then stick to low key dinners. THen maybe in a few years we can try the Spirit of Aloha show when she's older :)

Thanks for posting your review.

I think I was there when you were! I was downstairs by the Concierge when they got a call about the "guest" without a club level card - baby lizard. LOL.....

Glad you liked it so much. We love it. Actually bought DVC this trip, but POLY will still be on our trip agenda every once in awhile. there's nothing like it!!!!

Thanks for the review KimDis. Sounds like you had a wonderful time. Just over two weeks until we were there.

I was going to ask if they piped the Wishes music into the lounge. I guess if they don't we will watch Wishes from our room..we have a LVC room:woohoo:

Does the lounge get crowded during Wishes?

Hi Kim!! We did the same thing - watching Wishes from the beach a few nights, BUT, the next week after you left - we did watch it from the lounge and this time they DID have the music going - not sure what was up with that but it was great.

well, I looked at a bunch of pictures of lagoon view rooms from Tikiman's site and decided I wanted to upgrade...so I called reservations to make the change, only to find out the rooms are all sold out for the last week of February! :scared1: I guess I'll have to keep checking back and hope someone decides to cancel their ressie. I could swing lagoon view, but def not a theme park view :( Either way though, we're heading back to the Poly and I couldn't be more excited!

I'm so excited for our MK view this Oct. we were lucky enough to get a pin so for the amount we were going to spend on a CY view at the WL (which I love by the way) we are staying in a MK view at the POLY. :cool1:

I have gotten so many pins over the last three months for the fall season, I am praying that I get some kind of deal for February...then I could possibly upgrade to MK view! Crossing my fingers for some more pixie dust :)

a few questions for those of you who have been to the Poly in February... we will be staying the last week of February, and I saw that the MK closes at eight and Wishes is at eight pm. I was curious what time the EWP goes by this time of year?
And if there are some kind of deals/discounts offered, I would love to be able to stay gardenview concierge again...but I remember from our last stay that the evening offerings were from 5-7pm I think. I was wondering if the hot apps were served earlier during the time of year when the MK closes early? I was thinking if I booked GVC, that I'd eat dinner there...but if the MK closes at eight, I wouldn't have much time to get back to MK to enjoy the park??? Thanks as always for your help :) I'm planning ahead just in case I can upgrade!

Can't answer most of your questions but for deals, try **********************.com. They are showing that they have some deals for Feb 10-20 but they might have some later in the month too.

The Electrical Water Pagent is at 9:00 p.m. each night. I'm not sure about the deal/discounts though, sorry. :)
