Yes, I saw people getting beer in the lounge at the Poly. I don't know what kind, because we don't care for it. There was also juice, lemonade, iced tea and sodas available. Plus all the snacks and the food. You have plenty of time to look for a good discount, if CL is the way you want to go...;)

I have a question about the tolietries given in the room. DBF and I are leaving for our TPV room in 12 days and were travelling carry on only and were wondering do they replace the shampoo and conditioner bottles everyday? Or when you ask? And is toothpaste included? I'm trying to fit everying we need in the two 311 bags were allowed and I usually check big bottles of shampoo and conditioner :) thanks for all the help and don't worry ill be posting live from the poly once I figure out if my laptop counts as my 'personal' item or not :)

Shampoo and conditioner are replenished daily.

Only club rooms receive toothpaste.

Can't wait to read your live reports. :surfweb: Have fun! :woohoo:

Thanks so much! Is there toothpaste available at the little store? (Pardon me for not knowing the name I only know boutiki but I know the store upstairs has sundries and stuff)

I can't remember it's new name right now either...I still think of it as the Grog Hut. But yes, I'm confident they carry toothpaste but probably at an exorbitant price. Have you checked out the travel sizes at Target or Walgreens, etc?

Good for you to be able to do carryon only.:worship:

OK--So I have been back for week and I have FINALLY signed on and read the thread. WOW did I have alot of posts to read.

As you may remember, I was crazy busy at work and didn't have time to prepack the suitcases. I started feeling sick the day before we left and threw up 2 times while packing the night before our flight. I lived on Pepto Bismol for 2 days but I made it:sick:

The girls had a great time on the plane down as they began chatting on their DSs with 2 other girls in pic-to-chat(sp?) and then played a group game of Mario before we landed.

Easy peasy getting to ME but stood in line for about 20 minutes waiting on our bus. While on the bus, the video never came on-bummer for the girls.

We were the first stop and I went to check us in while DH and the girls hung out in the kids area making crafts. BUT.................I did not get my room choice...not even close. I asked for 3rd floor Tokelau or Tahiti with a special cleaning and they gave us 3rd floor facing the monorail in Aotearoa. I did not want to face the parking lot/monorail for 7 days. I nicely asked for any 3rd floor room between the pool and the TTC but nada. I begged and the poor check-in gal disappeared over and over until she found me a 3rd floor, same longhouse, facing the lagoon. Fine-done-I'll take it. They couldn't do a special cleaning until the next day. no problem. I just need fresh blankets and bedspreads to make sure DD doesn't accidently come accross nut products left behind from other guests. She said it will take a few hours for that request, maybe 9pm(note it is only 4:30pm at this point). no problem as long as we have them by 10 or 10:30.

In the meantime, my DH is getting furious with me. Take a room. Stop being so picky. We are tired. It's been 45 minutes. blah, blah, blah...I am the one having to make nicey nice talk with the other cms while I wait.

The heavens open up and our keys are ready. We are off to our room. Disappointed but totally thankful we aren't facing the parking lot. The resort is sold out and the cms are super busy.

As I pass by Tonga, I know our building is next but I have no idea how to get in. I pass the entrance assuming there is a middle door. DH is testy "As much time as you spend on those stupid boards and you don't know how to get in to our building?"....whatever...

I open the door, and I am stunned by our view. We have room 3225. We all go onto the balcony. We can see the beach, the lagoon, and thru the tree.....THE CASTLE!!!!!! I am in shock. All I can think is I am SO GLAD I persisted to get our room changed. Even the DH is in awe. He admits it. He is happy I changed our view.

Yes--the magic has begun. More to follow.

How did you get a 40% code? I always see people talking about codes, but I have never gotten anything? Is it luck that they send it to you? :confused3

In our case I think it was Disney's clever marketing to get us to come back. We had been home about 3 weeks when I received it. DH and I discussed going for a December trip "at some point" but this made it happen quickly!

Aloha! We have arrived in hawaii! What a great experience! We were upgraded to club level lagoon view! Two palm trees frame the castle! WOW! my wife said " okay this beats the WL!" and in my opinion it does. I will send more later. Tess it is all waiting for you guys!

That is awesome! Enjoy your fabulous Pixie Dust pixiedust:

Even though our trip is a way off (to put it mildly) I have been really talking about concierge level to my dh. He is really interested but not yet convinced. One question is beer available in the lounge or is it just sodas, water and juices. He is not a big beer drinker, but on occasion he likes to have a nice cold one. I am a wine drinker but I don't have to have it.

Any help in convincing him that concierge is the way to go, would be greatly appreciated. Just give me some "facts" that will sway him. We will book our package in August and will have a little over a year to pay it off.

In all honesty, I don't think DH would have ever agreed to CL if we had not been given a free upgrade for the last night of our vacation. He really enjoyed the amenities and the location of Hawaii.

Dh's (or DW, if hubby is doing the planning) should just not mess with the knowledge we have on these things! :rotfl:

Enjoy that wonderful view. I look forward to hearing your trip updates! :thumbsup2

Beer is indeed avaliable in the lounge and they had Budweiser (American Champagne), Sam Adams, Henieken, Corona and Bud Light. There was one other one but I can't remember it. Can't remember what wine they had but I do remember liquers like Chambord and my favorite, Grand Mariner.

Hope that helps! :thumbsup2

That would most likeley be Samoa Snacks. :goodvibes I remember seeing a small selection of toiletries and the associated big price markup. :thumbsup2

Poly trip continued.....

After discovering our magical view for the price of garden view, we were thrilled. A few minutes later there was a knock on the door and mousekeeping had brought us new towels??? No didn't need new towels, needed new bed coverings. 10 minutes later, mousekeeping was back with new bedcoverings. Very sweet mousekeeper and I thanked her profusely. Didn't take hours to get the linens as the front desk had predicted.

A few minutes later, another knock at the door, what now??? Our luggage had arrived. WOW--very quick. I unpacked somewhat and we headed off to the boardwalk for a stroll and dinner at Boardwalk-to-go. After dinner we went to Epcot and rode a few rides and came back to the hotel.

It was awesome. We could smell the wood burning from Ohana, hear the music from the luau, and best of all....we watched Wishes from our balcony. Just heavenly.:cloud9:

We had great mousekeeping all week. The room was always ready upon our return from the parks. The mousekeeper left us towel animals almost every day and arranged the girls stuffed animals and such in a fun vignette(sp?). If I can figure out how to post pictures, I will show everyone a few.

People watching became a favorite pastime on the balcony as well. Watching and listening to folks coming and going to the luau...unaware I was eavesdroppiong...sshhhhh

The food at CCs was great as usual. I went into CCs one night to try my first dole whip. The girl at the register said--no charge. You are my first customer of the evening. Enjoy--WOW. Sweet gal and I loved the dole whip. I savored it all the way back to my room and finished it on the balcony.

We had ADRS for a date night at Narcooses one night and took the girls to the Neverland Club. They loved it. We felt so comfortable with the staff and the girls begged to go back so we canceled a lunch ADR and added another date night. This time to Artist Point. The girls wanted to go back to Neverland Club a 3rd time but we couldn't see dropping that much cash a 3rd time in one trip. Next trip.

The pool was fantastic as usual except for the time they closed it due to the mama duck and her little fellas swimmin in there. Gotta love mother nature. We didn't have to wait too long though. We also spent a morning using the sea racers in the lagoon. So much fun!

Trasportation was great. Monorail, boats, and buses(oh my!) were all timely. No complaints. We did take taxis a few times but only for timing convenience and less hassle.

My one pet peeve....one day my DH was doing laundry and I was watching my girls play in the sand on the Fiji beach. I was talking to my mom on my cell having a conversation about my dad's passing a year ago when a rent-a-cop came up to me and asked if I was aware of the ameobas(sp?) that live in the waters around Florida. I said yes and I don't allow my girls to go in past their ankles or to splash water in their face, etc. He said they should stop playing and go shower off but there is no shower here at this beach so they shouldn't play here. I told him I always take them back to the room to shower and soap up after playing in the sand. I said thank you and went about talking to my mom again. He stood there staring at me for a while and shook his head, finally leaving to go back to his cart thingy. By his actions and tone of voice, I could see he was very annoyed that I didn't overreact and fall to his feet with the news. I understand he was trying to be informative but once I said I knew, he should have said "have a nice day" and left. It really ticked me off the way he gave me this look of "stupid mom isn't touting me a hero". My DH actually saw the whole thing from the balcony as he was already back in the room folding clothes. He could see the disgust on the guy's face and his body language and he knew when I got back to the room that I was ticked off about what had happened. I should just let it go...yada, yada, yada...I did, kinda...;)

To shorten this thing up a little, we loved our room and view. It was amazing how different the feel was from Aotearoa vs Tokelau. I like them both for different reasons. Just goes to show there really aren't bad locations at the Poly...just different. I can also see why people pay to see the castle. Even though our view was partially obstructed, it was the bomb!

Any questions, please ask. Sorry for my lengthy posts. It's been a long time :goodvibes

Good for you with the carry-ons! We just did a 10-day WDW trip with carry-ons. DH also had a laptop backpack with him as his "personal item" and we didn't have any problems. :)

The shampoo, conditioner, shower gel are replaced daily, but if it's not enough you can leave a note for mousekeeping asking for a few more.:)

"Only Club Level receives toothpaste"...
I had no idea. Does this mean one less thing to pack if staying CL?
TIA!

It sure does! There was also solar gel (think after-sun aloe vera) in our room and it was great!

Thanks for the trip report so far! It's not too long -- it's a great read! I'm happy for you that you found a room you liked. That castle view really is something special, isn't it?:cloud9:

Our last club level visit was a year ago this month. We did receive a small tube of toothpaste then as we had in the past. Think an ounce or two maybe??

Tess will be there soon...maybe she can give a current account.:goodvibes

Grace&Carolinesmom, I'm glad you had a great vacation.

Possible Silly Question....do they let you bring food into the club lounge from outside? We will be eating breakfast there most days but I really wanna try the Tonga Toast at CC. I was planning on getting it and bringing it back to the lounge to eat with the rest of my group. Is this frowned upon?

oh, you definitely can bring food into the club lounge. We did it most days for lunch and nobody cared at all.

Yes she will! Unfortunately, I won't have a laptop on vacation to send a live update. Carlnix is there as we speak and perhaps he will see the post and provide the toothpaste information.

My bags are packed. . .I'm ready to go. . .housecleaning and other fun stuff first though. :laundy:

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

Enjoy your trip!! :cool1:

Say hello for me, we won't be at the Poly thisyear. :sad2: Girls trip is at the POP.
but we'll be there next year for my DD 16th birthday.

I forgot Carlnix was already there! Happy cleaning, Tess.:laundy:

And Happy Mother's Day to you and everyone else! :flower3:

Wow. This is the first time I've read of guests actually being warned about this face-to-face... Sorry you had that unpleasant experience.

2) beach- can't swim but the water--- can a child use a pail to get water to build sandcastles or it the sand too fine for that anyway?

3) In some of the pics there are these little huts on the beach- can anyone use those???

4) there is a desk in the room but what about a table? w chairs? or does the daybed take the place of the chairs? I have seen some room pics but haven't been able to figure out this....

thanks Jill

2) Playing in the sand is fine, as long as the kids arent getting submerged or geatting their heads wet. That water grosses me out too much to even step into :scared1:

3) I'm not sure what huts you mean, but if you can post a link someone can tell you for sure!

4) There is a rolling table that tucks under the desk, and it fits well against the beds, couch, or chairs in the room.

Thanks so much! Is there toothpaste available at the little store? (Pardon me for not knowing the name I only know boutiki but I know the store upstairs has sundries and stuff)

If you call housekeeping and request a toothbrush, the toothbrush comes with a small tube of toothpaste in it (like BVC mentioned, it's only 1 or 2 ounces or so). They leave those in the room in club level, but anyone can request them.
