Mouseturtle and Missus Toad thanks for the live reports!

Mouseturtle, I would of complain about the room cleanliness immediately!! Ewe!

So I'm glad to say that after I spoke with the front desk something must have been said to housekeeping, because room was spotless today. They offered to upgrade me to Hawaii but for a cost of almost $400...I think I can tolerate the ferry for the rest of my stay...

My DH and I are heading to the Poly for 9 nights in September. We have booked a Theme park view and requested Tahiti third floor. I just read about someone saying the ferry boat horn is noisy? Is this the best longhouse for us? I chose it to be as far away from the Spirit of Aloha Show, and now I need to worry about a boat horn....any advice? Thanks!

OK, so I'm here now, I did request Tahiti 3rd floor and I got it - but be careful what you wish for, right?! If I were you I'd make an additional request for the "low" numbers which are on the other end of the longhouse, farther away from the ferry (and its horn) I know that's being too specific but it cant hurt to ask.

It doesn't run overnight, but it does run late, and when I come back to the room to take a nap it's impossible to ignore. It also starts pretty early, which is not my favorite way to wake up.

The view is AWESOME though so I'm dealing with it. I am not spending THAT much time in the room, right?

I honestly think you'll hear the horns to some degree at any of the theme park rooms!

It's the one thing that is taking away some of my magical experience since this is our 1st time here

To get my DH up and out for rope drop! :rotfl2:
Thanks for the tip!

Good one...:rotfl:

So I made up my mind, every time I hear the horn blow, I am going to think if it as a reminder that I'm at the most magical place on earth. And count my blessings that I'm HERE. :lovestruc

It is what it is! And it's not the worst thing in the world.

I am a terribly light sleeper and never travel without my noise machine. Very compact, lightweight. Effective for ferry horns and all manner of noises!

Mousturtle -- Just set the alarm clock to a static-y station and you have instant white noise. That should drown out the ferry. We do it whenever we're at a hotel to help the kids sleep.

I'll be there in less than a month after 3 days in AKV Kidani, kids don't even know about it yet........

What Longhouse do you Poly experts recommend for a courtyard view? My DW and I will be traveling with my parents, with my dad in an ECV due to disabilities. I am thinking it would be great to have one between the Ceremonial House and the TTC. I'm hoping to get something relatively quiet and with a nice view (no parking lot). I know all I can do is request a certain longhouse, but I figure some request is better than none.
Ideas? Sugguestions?
Thanks in advance!

On our last stay we were in TOKELAU ... on the Tangaroa Terrace side ... quiet pool view, 1st floor and I loved it! Half-way between Ceremonial House (quicker to get there going through the Rarotonga building ... and cooler!) and TTC. Also close to the bus stop. I'm a smoker and there was a smoking area right outside the main door. Was quite a walk to the large pool area and the motor launch but I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

Aloha! We have arrived in hawaii! What a great experience! We were upgraded to club level lagoon view! Two palm trees frame the castle! WOW! my wife said " okay this beats the WL!" and in my opinion it does. I will send more later. Tess it is all waiting for you guys!

I agree with goopysolelady that Tokelau would be a good longhouse to request. I've never stayed in Tokelau but I know that it is one of the "newer" longhouses with a bit more square footage, which would be nice with 4 adults in the room and an ECV. The views are very pretty around there and you're in between the GCH and the TTC.
I was in Niue in March and LOVED it. It is a small bldg. right next to the GCH and we loved our ground floor room but Tokelau (and Tahiti and Rapa Nui) would give you more room and also allow you to see more of the beautiful grounds on your way to and from your room :thumbsup2
You will LOVE the beautiful Polynesian :lovestruc

Now THAT is an awesome upgrade :cool1: Enjoy!

Tess - have a wonderful vacation :beach:

Here's a link to a very helpful longhouse-picking site:

When we went on our first trip in Sept/Oct 2007 we had no intention of going to MNSSHP. I really don't think we knew about it beforehand. But we kept seeing signs at MK and then saw the Hallowishes from the Poly beach and decided last minute to buy some tickets. We had a blast! It really was the highlight of our trip!

After about two weeks of being home we started to miss the Poly and Disney so we decided to book for Dec 2008. A few weeks later we got a 40% code which just sweetened the deal.:dance3: So the 14 months of planning began. While we were there we had a bit of a family tragedy at home and DD spiked a high fever in the last days and I was a wreck trying to get us home earlier than planned. I could not get us a flight home so when I went to let the front desk know we were staying the last night afterall, she asked if we would like to spend the night in the Hawaii building with a view of the castle so DD can watch fireworks and ELP. I graciously accepted and it was the most magical last 24 hours we could imagine even with the stress of what was going on at home and my very ill child. pixiedust:

So while I masterminded the Poly addiction, the Poly stepped it up a level with that wonderful last night in Hawaii! :worship: Now DH won't go any other way. :rolleyes1

We decided that IF we went again we would go in Sept or Oct like our first trip. We like the weather (yes, even with the rain and heat, we deal), the crowds seem more managable and we love MNSSHP! So here we are our third "once of a Lifetime trip" in three years!

How did you get a 40% code? I always see people talking about codes, but I have never gotten anything? Is it luck that they send it to you? :confused3
