What is the best bldg. to request for garden view? We need a room that accomadates 5.
Thanks!

You may receive a variety of different opinions on the "best GV longhouse" for a multitude of reasons. If I had to choose a GV, I would have a few of favorites: Tokelau (centrally located within the resort), Tahiti (quiet, out of the way, close to TTC, larger rooms and double sinks in the bathroom), and Samoa (situated between the two pools, close to GHC).

Hopefully others will chime in with their thoughts. :thumbsup2

We've done many split stays as well including Polynesian/AKL and Polynesian/BC. We're doing Polynesian/WLV in seven weeks. Like the PP we enjoy having two totally different 'vacations' in the same trip. And it's a great way to enjoy more of the resorts. Go ahead, branch out. Wilderness Lodge is a wonderful place :)

Thanks for the info! I have been wanting to stay at WL for some time now.

We have been doing split stays for the past few years. Of course Poly is always one of the hotels and we end our vacation there. We have split stayed at Boardwalk, Beach Club and Grand Floridian. On the morning we check out of the first hotel we just tell the bellman we are going to Poly and go off to a park for the morning. Our room is usually ready around lunch and we relax by the pool for the afternoon. One tip though, if you are planning something special for dinner that will require a change of clothes, carry it with you. One trip our luggage didn't show up until almost 6:00 p.m. and we had ressies for V&A that night :scared1:

Good tip, thanks!

Can anyone post a picture of the playground that is at the Polynesian? I read that they have one but can't find any pics. We will be there in 10 days with our 2 kids. Also, what is the kids water play area?

As others have reported, there is no playground here. I was a bit disappointed when I first went to the Poly and my kids were 3 & 5 but I didn't need to worry. They preferred swimming or going to the parks than go to a playground (which they have at home anyway). And those playgrounds, even if they are plastic, can get hot! The kids water play area is great for...toddlers and babies. My kids played in it for a minute and just wanted to go in the pool :rotfl: And actually, me and my husband were FINE with that! All Disney pools have a decent 'shallow' end and a lot of the big pools (like the Volcano pool) don't have a 'deep' end anyway (but the quiet pool does!)

I like Tokelau, ground floor!

Well....after all these years DH finally gets his wish. We will be staying at the Poly in a MK view. Called to book a few nights after our DVC stay and I had a PIN attached so got 2 nights for $762.
I can't wait to surprise him .

Congrats!!! Have fun!!:thumbsup2

Oh my gosh!!!!!!!!!!! I just looked at my own ticker and I have 42 days left.:scared1:

What should I be doing right now??? Where to begin!!!

Although I don't have a ticker I just counted and it looks like we will be down there the same time! So I'll just hop on board your ticker if that's ok with you ;)

Thanks for the congrats on Poly...I'm excited but more excited for how surprised DH will be. After 11 or so trips together in our 9 yr marriage he gets to stay here. :thumbsup2

Okay, very important question here (lol!)

We will be staying at the Poly concierge for the first time in January for marathon weekend. Does anyone here know if they serve real coffee in the lounge, or is it that Nescafe "stuff?"

The lounge has a machine with a number of options to make various coffee drinks, cafe latte, capachino, etc. it is not too bad, but is still nescafe. We bring our own coffee and filters and make coffee in the room to get us going and then it is ok to drink what is in the lounge.

anyone have an opinion on club level. We have stay at the poly before and im thinking of booking CL next time hopefully this january. I have a DD 7 and a DS 5. I really dont like the dining plan but thought having snacks available for the kids would be nice.

You will get varying opinions on this. I've stayed Poly LVCL numerous times, and love it. I love the convenience of breakfast down the hall, the staff is wonderful, the view can't be beat, the specialty drink is:goodvibes. You have to decide for yourself if the extra $$$ is worth it for you and your family.

So is this specialty drink only served in the CL or is it for sale anywhere? I've stayed at the Poly twice but have never stayed CL!

Aloha friends :yay:

I finally finished my Oct 2007 TR within my PTR! I have been having a blast reliving our first trip! I hope to get started on the Dec '08 trip soon!

I have sampled the yummy CL punch and it is wonderful. I have only had a taste of CL, but am looking forward to an entire stay in about six weeks! So far the IPO has been wonderful and helpful.

I will be sure to give a full report. I just got a new phone with 3G so if I can figure out how to do it I may be able to do some live updates at times. I refuse to bring our laptops as we spend too much time on them at home! :lmao:

I can't wait :woohoo:

Kteacher wrote exactly what I would write. :)

If the specialty drink referred to here is the sangria-type drink served in the eventing in the CL lounge, then I have not seen it anyplace else. It's delicious though! :thumbsup2

We like going to the lounge for breakfast, and for the evening offerings. If you are going to have lots of resort time, yes, if you are going to be in the parks all day and only sleep at the resort, no. We spend a lot of time relaxing at the resort, so for us it is worth it.

That is an important question for me too.:rotfl2: We are staying CL at the Poly for the first time next month.

The lounge has a machine with a number of options to make various coffee drinks, cafe latte, capachino, etc. it is not too bad, but is still nescafe. We bring our own coffee and filters and make coffee in the room to get us going and then it is ok to drink what is in the lounge.

:scared1: Say it aint so:rotfl2: The coffee machine at the GF does not use the nescafe crap. There are real beans on top that get ground as it is used. Guess I'll be making the trip to the GCH for some Kona coffee.:rotfl2:

I'm probably the one in a million who thinks the nescafe is just fine - I know!!! I LOVED nescafe when I backpacked through Greece and they served it everywhere so I don't have an issue with it. For me, if it has caffeine and I can load it with milk or cream, it's cool with me. I also had a horrible experience getting some mochas at the Kona Espresso bar or whatever it is/was. They were disgusting and after that, I knew I liked the coffee better than their so called espresso.

I'm a nut, I know :surfweb:

Maxie -- the GF machine is wonderful!:cloud9: DH rated it and the one at AKL CL, (which is different), both great for different reasons. Unfortunately, the Poly CL one (I'm hoping they upgrade it soon) is Nescafe swill...:sad2:

did I read somewhere that there are ipod docking stations in the rooms??? all the rooms??

or did I hallucinate that:rolleyes1

When we were there in Aug. they had Nescafe. One of the machines wasn't working near the end of our trip so maybe they have something different now??

:scared1: I have heard of one or two others that like the brown stuff they serve.:rotfl2: When that is all you can get, you sort of get used to it after a couple of days.

That is just not right. Hopefully they will upgrade it before I get there. Sort of takes away the convenience of staying CL if you have to go the GCH anyway for coffee.:sad2: Well, I send DH, I don't actually go.:rotfl2:

It would be nice if they upgraded the machine, but I guess I'll just have to make do with whatever they have. That and sending DH to the GCH for some Kona coffee.:rotfl2:
