I think we're at 19 days. But we'll be at AKL this time around. We have an ADR for the breakfast at Ohana's, though.

I'm making a screensaver in anticipation for our next trip "home" next year and was wondering if anyone has a picture of the sign at the airport for Disney's Magical Express to the Polynesian? I never thought to take it myself, but would like one for the screensaver

Thanks in advance.

Found one! Thanks anyway!!

Ahhhhh...7 more weeks and then I will be enjoying the tranquility of the Poly:cloud9: Life is so busy, it is just making the time fly by....

Welcome home Poly peeps. It seems like things may be a bit quiet in paradise. I hope it stays that way :thumbsup2

You're almost there! You're right -- the time really does fly by -- and before you know it you'll be relaxing at the beach at the Poly!:cloud9:

Thank you Magical JenK. Hope you are having a wonderful time. Although I would have liked it to be separate, just as long as there are two sinks we will be good to go.:flower3:

OT - The picture of your dogs is priceless.:cloud9: Simply beautiful.

Yeah, I agree...having them separate is better for us, but I do like the 2 sinks. The fan in our bathroom doesn't work either & I have asked maintenance to come look at it 3 different times...still nothing...but oh well....I guess the view makes up for it.

OT--thanks! I'm missing them terribly...it was my little girl's 1st bday today too...but the sitter gave her an extra treat & my mom went to visit & sang to her! LOL

I'm really having a hard time going to a resort other than Poly so maybe I'll do a split stay. Has anyone done a split stay with the Poly? Anyone done Poly/WL? What do you think of split stays and is it worth it?

We've done a bunch of split-stays. One of them was AKL/Poly, and it was wonderful. I haven't tried WL. We like to split our stays because we get to experience 2 resorts, 2 resort areas, 2 themes, and 2 pools. So for us it feels like 2 vacations in one. I don't think I could stay at just one resort anymore.

I wanted to do a 5/5 split, but when the 4/3 deal came out I had to change it to 3/7 (saved lots of money, but I really would have preferred a 5/5 split).

It also can save you money, since WL is less expensive than the Poly.

You'll have to pack and unpack again, though. And you'll be without a room for part of the day that you're moving. And you'll have 2 reservations to deal with. For us it's worth it, but for some people it's not. Just depends if the pros outweigh the cons for you.

For me, it's a great way to try out a new resort, since you're not committing your entire trip to a place you're not sure about.;)

I must admit that we are waiting to book to see if any deals come out and I didn't even think about the 4/3 being only at one resort! Well, I may be hoping too much for a deal but you never know!

We've done many split stays as well including Polynesian/AKL and Polynesian/BC. We're doing Polynesian/WLV in seven weeks. Like the PP we enjoy having two totally different 'vacations' in the same trip. And it's a great way to enjoy more of the resorts. Go ahead, branch out. Wilderness Lodge is a wonderful place :)

Oh my goodness!!! It took me forever to get through this thread but I finally caught up and loved all of it. It made me even more excited for our up coming trip in Febuary which we will be staying at the Poly. I am definately subscribing. By the way I am brand new to the forum. I was wondering how do I add a countdown to my disney trip like I have seen others? Thanks in advance.:yay:

I feel your pain! We really want to try other resorts, but we love the Poly so much! We've never done a split stay, but we're trying our first next summer between Poly and AKL (and can't wait). My DH was really opposed to the idea of the split, but when he thought about EXTENDING our stay from 7 to 10 days, he was OK with the idea of switching resorts. I couldn't talk him into it for a shorter stay, though, but I know lots of people do it.

We did do a separate stay at WL and loved it ALMOST as much as the Poly, and would happily go back. It is removed from the monorail and has a very different "flavor" from the other MK resorts, so I think splitting with the Poly would work out.

Which resort did you stay at for 3 nights and which did you do first? How did it work out for you?

:wave:First of all, welcome! I can't believe you've read through this whole thread! There's tons of great info on here!:)

To add a countdown, just click on someone's countdown. There are lots of diff countdown sites, but if you click on most of the countdowns on the boards, it will bring up a new window from that site. Follow the directions. Then cut & paste the "info" into your "signature" under User CP at the top of this page. Hope this helps!:goodvibes

We stayed at AKL for 3 nights, then spent a week at the Poly. Both were CL stays. We really did enjoy it, it's just that we didn't feel like we had enough time at AKL and the 5/5 split would have been better for us. But we've done other 3/7 splits and they went ok. This summer we did a BC/AKL/GF split and it was really fun.:cloud9:

Disney will move your luggage for you, and you don't need to pack "perfectly" since you're not flying, so it's pretty easy. We had 2 cases of water and a bag of groceries and everything was moved from one resort to another for us.

Poly and AKL is a great split. Their theming/colors/locations really complement each other. I would always choose to stay at AKL first since the rooms at the Poly are so much larger -- it would be harder to move in the other direction, IMO.;)

We only have 450 more days until we are at the Poly again! I know that seems a long way off but I started my count down at 599 days!

:rotfl:Well then, you've made a lot of progress so far! I think you could win an award for your patience. I hope that the time flies by for you! ;)

We have been doing split stays for the past few years. Of course Poly is always one of the hotels and we end our vacation there. We have split stayed at Boardwalk, Beach Club and Grand Floridian. On the morning we check out of the first hotel we just tell the bellman we are going to Poly and go off to a park for the morning. Our room is usually ready around lunch and we relax by the pool for the afternoon. One tip though, if you are planning something special for dinner that will require a change of clothes, carry it with you. One trip our luggage didn't show up until almost 6:00 p.m. and we had ressies for V&A that night :scared1:

Can anyone post a picture of the playground that is at the Polynesian? I read that they have one but can't find any pics. We will be there in 10 days with our 2 kids. Also, what is the kids water play area?

I don't remember seeing a playground at the Poly, and we walked all over the resort...

As for the water play area, it's basically a little round concrete area with some water spouts that make water shoot out from the ground. Judging by all the little kids playing there, it's quite popular, but less crowded than the volcano pool. It's tucked away behind some shrubs, but it's kind of between the volcano pool, the Hawaii building, and the beach.

Hope this helps!:)

What is the best bldg. to request for garden view? We need a room that accomadates 5.
Thanks!

The playground was removed many years ago. It was located in the area that is now the water play area which mmmears described.
