What buildings are considered Lagoon view and which are considered MK view? Is it possible that you can see fireworks and/or the castle with a Lagoon View?

We had a great view of the fireworks from Tahiti. You could watch them from the beach there it is very private. We had a MK view however I think that some of the rooms beside us were considered Lagoon view because they were partialy covered by trees. The best info on a room by room comparison is on the :surfweb:Tikiman website. I'll Pm you the link.

Is the Tonga toast just as good at Captain Cooks as it is at Kona?

I'm trying to avoid booking a breakfast ADR at Kona but I REALLY want to try the Tonga Toast. If it's the same thing at Captain Cooks, it would solve that problem.

We are thinking about requesting this building but are concerned it is a far walk. I will have an ecv but DH and DD will have to hoof and both havs some knee troubles. We have ressies for Dec. MK view. Any saugggestions about requesting a certain building? This is for our 38th anniversary and we have waited a long time for this trip. I want it to be really nice. I was going to change our ressie to CL but there aren't any rooms left.

Ideas anyone?

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this before but when we were at the Poly this past week (8-15th) there were Photopass photographers in the lobby area. When we arrived there was one outside the main entrance taking pictures and then on Friday there was one inside. We stopped and she took our photos sitting on the bench in front of the planters. I know I read you could book a special photo session at the resort - but this was just like any other photopass opportunity and did not cost extra! I can post the pic when I get my CD.

Great post! Thanks!

I don't know for sure, so I hope someone else will answer, but my best guess is that it should be essentially the same. A CM gave me the receipe once and I have never taken the time to make it at home, but I would think that as long as they are using the same receipe, it should be the same at both locations. I've had it at Boatwrights, too, although they gave it a different name there, and I believe it tasted the same as at the Poly.

We're staying CL this trip, so will have breakfast in the lounge, but like you, I intend to get an order of Tonga Toast from CC while we're there!

Well, the reason I ask is because the boys will be going on a pirate cruise from the GF one morning. That would be an ideal morning to have breakfast at Kona, but I think it would be too much time wasted going back and forth when the only reason I want to go to Kona is to try the Tonga Toast. So for now I have an ADR at the GF Cafe which I think will be much more convenient while we wait for the boys to return. Plus we get to check out the GF and hopefully see some Christmas decorations.

Anyone ever had breakfast at the GF Cafe?

You can order the Tonga Toast (TT) from Room-Service. One of many glorious memories from the Poly is eating TT from my ground-floor patio and watching the sun come up. Ahhhh luxury!

The GF Cafe is a fine restaurant. They will serve you french-press coffee that is really awesome. More memories... and they let me abscond a few flowers from one of their floral displays to brighten the rest of our evening, so I have especially fond memories of that place.

We had ours done at AKL and Poly, if the photographers are not busy doing a booked photoshoot they will take a couple for you.

I didn't like the way the photographer posed us, this is the original pose

We are headed to Disney at teh end of September. We will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge, however I am really looking for a place to rent a sailboat. I have been informed that they are not available at the Wilderness Lodge or anywhere on Bay Lake. Does anybody know if they still rent them at the Mikala canoe club marina?

Please tell me your favorite things to do at the Polynesian. This is our first time at a deluxe resort and I'd like to balance time in the parks with more time at the resort. Last time to WDW (at All Star Sports), we spent all day and night in the parks... but paying so much more for the Poly, I want to enjoy it.... we have theme park view.

Some ideas....
Going to Spirit of Aloha, Ohanas for dinner and breakfast, Kona once for lunch. Will spend some mornings swimming, and some late evenings grabbing a Lapu Lapu from the Tambu lounge and enjoying it in our room after 4 yr old is asleep, will watch MK fireworks from beach, will walk and enjoy the scenery and lit tiki torches at night.

How about these other things?
The kids play area? We don't want a babysitter but are there fun activities there? Are there other fun activities at the resort? I saw information about the tiki torch lighting ceremony and storytelling in the GCH. Are there other arts/crafts or hula dancing lessons or anything like that for kids or adults? Anyone go to the campfire at Grand Floridian? Is it fun to rent a boat or the surrey bikes?

Thank you!!!

There's a schedule you'll be given at check in with all the activities going on that week. Some examples that I remember: Bingo, Tote Bag Decorating, Pool Games, Make your own Tiki Mask, Wii Games. There's something different every day.

Try to catch the Electrical Water Pageant from the beach at 9. It's very cute.
