The *ALL NEW* Polynesian Resort FAQ thread - *APRIL 2009*

Well, I finally made it through all of this thread - wow, there's a lot of useful information!

We are coming to the Poly on Oct. 9-12 - just a short trip for the holiday weekend. My husband has a conference then, so it will be me, my mom, and my two kids (DS 3, and DD 5.5). We're really looking forward to staying at a monorail resort, and at the Poly in particular. We've stayed at POR, WL, and AKLV before, so this will be something new. Cheers!

Is CL worth the extra money? Besides the food sat out and IPO making your reservations, what else do they do for that is different than a regular room?

Well, imo, the CL at the poly rocks - you get great treatment, and the food/drink alone for us - when we stay 5 in a room is SOO worth the $. When we stay CL my out of pocket cost for food is hardly anything. I revolve all my plans around being there when the food is out (breakfast, hot app.s, late night goodies/drinks). Not to mention my bar tab is next to nothing also b/c of the complimentary drinks in the lounge. Times that by a few adults and there you have it! ;) (The alcoholic punch they put out is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!)

Also, as a pp said, they can score all your ADR's for you -- and usally get you great seats -- without any stress on your end.

Just top notch all the way!

I agree - the punch at the Poly is fantastic. This was our first Club level stay - and DH and I had a hard time justifying it in the past. It averages out to $100/day for Club level. Between the breakfasts in the lounge and the beverages I am sure we were close to that for 4 of us. Some nights we did just eat the appetizers and desserts. Basically, we ate one "meal" out at the parks per day and that worked.

We especially loved the large rooms at the Poly - the day bed opens into a twin bed. It seemed much bigger than the day beds at the Epcot resort areas.

In addition, club level guests have packages delivered to their rooms instead of picking them up in the gift shop. Turn down service is also available. We also had a DVD player in our room and you can borrow movies. This worked great on a rainy afternoon.

I wish we could stay club level every trip, although that is probably not in the cards. I really did enjoy it though!

One other thing that staying CL at the Poly gives you -- you know what building you'll be staying in. We really, really liked the location of the Hawaii building (it's between the 2 pools, on the beach, near the boat dock, and near the GCH). And it's so easy to grab a drink and a snack from the lounge while you're at the pool or the beach -- it saved us a ton of time (compared to waiting in line at CC's) and money each afternoon.

For us, the food put out is enough that we don't need to go out to eat on some days, so that helps to offset the cost.

And we find it nice to have a nice big lounge to relax in. The views from the Poly Club Lounge are out of this world!:cloud9:

We have an upcoming CL stay and I am looking very forward to it. My first impression with the Poly IPO has been fantastic.

We were fortunate to have a taste of Club level our last trip for one night and we fell in love. That being said, I don't think I would pay rack rate for it. We were fortunate to get a pin code for our October stay.

For our family CL seems to be a good fit. We like to get up and out early after a quick breakfast, we tend to be satisfied with one big meal per day and the CL will suit us well as we plan on doing lunches in the parks. We also like to spend most of our evenings hanging out at the resort. It will be nice to grab a cup of the wonderful punch or a beer or two (or three :lmao:).

While as of now we are staying GV I am trying so hard not to just pull the trigger and switch to LV. It is so tempting but I just can't seem to justify it. Like mmmears said, the Hawaii building is the best location. It is nice not to wonder/worry about our Longhouse.

So all acohol is free in the CL?

Well, they have beer/wine available during the day ( you just ask the host for it), and then at 5pm they put out this amazing alcoholic punch :lovestruc as well as bottles of wine.. Then, at 8pm they have out other cordials (kaluha, baileys etc.. not really sure what ones, since i don't drink most of those -- i stick to the punch and wine) All of those are complimentary..
However, you can't walk in there and ask for a pina colada.. ;) But everything else above mentioned is included.

Well, I would not use the term "free". It is included with the CL cost and available in the lounge. Beer and wine in the afternoon and then after dinner cordials in the evening as well as the famous rum punch! :thumbsup2

Ahhhh.. just give me time and i will convince you.. :thumbsup2 This will be our 3rd LV CL stay at the Poly, and i have to just tell you how AWESOME it is to fall asleep to that castle all lit up (we sleep with the curtains open to have it lit up all night), and how wonderful it is to awake to it and start your day... :lovestruc not to mention, just to walk right out your door (if you stay first floor) and walk right onto the beach.. very convienient!! :cloud9: I will definately post pics when i get back.

Oh, did i forget to mention how great it is to sit on your bed and look out and watch the EWP or Wishes, while you are munching on those awesome CC cookies from the lounge?? :rolleyes1:)

Your killing me! That is exactly what I am thinking too! :cloud9:

I just can imagine me and DD in our jammies watching wishes and the castle lit up all night! Especially after indulging in some Poly punch!:dance3:

I may have to be extra sweet too DH to get his vote ;)

Hmm. there must be a way you can just twist it around a bit, make it seem like it's HIS idea.. LOL.... ;)

We certainly took advantage of this last August. We had just gotten off a Disney Cruise. It was the tail end of a hurricane in the area (can't remember which one), DH came down with a cold and it was absolutely pouring! We hung out in the room and watched movies. popcorn:: I did laundry so I got soaked every time I had to go over the laundry room, but who cares? :laundy:

We have stayed at several CL's around WDW and I think the Poly puts out one of the more generous evening appetizers. DH and I are very light eaters so that often is enough for us without feeling like we are piling our plates. DS is twelve so he is eating constantly. The snacks are nice for him but he needs a real meal in between.

Our room seemed a little worse for the wear compared to some of the other deluxes but maybe they are do for a rehab soon. We obviously don't mind too much bc we are headed back in a few weeks!

Someone just mentioned the day bed in the room, so I thought I'd ask. We are 5 adults staying one room, so obviously the daybed will be in use. How comfortable is it? Should we rotate or is comfy enough to deal with for a week? Excuse my ignorance, but this is our first Poly stay (first deluxe stay actually :thumbsup2) and just want to know what to expect, thanks!!
