We were in Tolelau room #2910 May 12 - 19th. Our room was clean with not a trace of mold. I would have noticed right away if there was any mold or mildew because I am allergic to mold.

I do know that Orlando got record breaking rain beginning on May 18th. That could have caused problems in some rooms. But, as previous posters suggested, report any problems you might find immediately. No one can fix a problem that is not brought to their attention.

Hey Kathy Z just wanted to ask about your room. How did you like staying at Tokelau? I am thinking of requesting this longhouse for our August trip. Was it convenient to all? I don't mind a little walk here and there, my kids are not babies anymore...they can walk. It looks convenient to everything on the map but I figured I'd ask someone who has stayed there. Thanks.:goodvibes

Stop worrying! No, repeat .. NO ... resort/hotel/motel/rented home, etc. is going to be perfect! Some may expect them to be but "it ain't gonna happen"! Possibly some expect more than I do but I've never had a problem with any Disney (or other) room that I (a) couldn't live with {believe it or not .. my home is not perfect either!:sad2:} or (b) wasn't fixed when I requested that it be:thumbsup2. I'm just always so thankful to be at Walt Disney World, no matter where I'm staying, I just tend to chill out and enjoy my vacation!

I know, I just need to relax about it. Last year we stayed at the VWL and it was fine. There was a light out above the sink for about 3 days and I didn't even realize it until my husband said he was going to ask housekeeping to replace the bulb. The year before that at SSR we noticed the grout in the shower was really nasty, but we lived through that. I've been to Disney dozens of times and I've never found anything that would ruin our trip.

So here's my pixie dust story for today ... (you'll have to indulge me, I'm excited!) :wizard:
My sister got a PIN the other day for free dining. She didn't think she could use it because it said it was for 5 days/4 nights at a value (and they're already booked at Poly for 8 nights). I mentioned this in another thread & a few posters said she should call, they'll often let you apply it to what ever you've already got booked. So she did and they gave it to her. Then the CM said ... I assume you want to apply this to the party travelling with you?" That's us! I'd been hearing about a round of PINs going out and we never got one, so I thought we'd missed out. Of course a nice fall discount or a 40% birthday PIN for my DH would be a little sweeter, but I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth!

I'm the sister! :cool1: I never ever thought I'd get a PIN...what are the chances?!?!? WOO HOO I am so excited!!! FREE DINING!!! :woohoo:

Not Kathy Z, but I'll answer.

We stayed on the 2nd floor of Tokelau last year, (specifically: rm 2924) and requested the same for this year. I LOVED the location!

It's about not far from the GCH and a nice easy walk to the TTC. To be honest, for my kids, the only walking that's a problem is at night when they're tired. Having a convenient walk back from either monorail or the bus was wonderful!!!

The room was nice and large, and we had a sideways view of the lagoon from our balcony.

I would love to be in the same room this year!!!

Any tips from you experienced Disney travelers on how to pack as light as possible? I have read tips on packing the kids clothes in individual ziplock bags for each day - which I plan to do! (Figure it saves time each morning figuring out what to wear!) How are the toiletry items at the Poly - do they have the soap, shampoo and conditioner there and is it any good? I generally pack my own but I'm racking my brain on ways to pack light!!

Thanks!

Packing light: Take neutral bottoms to go with colorful tops. I plan to wash all the shorts half way through and throw in the undies with them. If everyone had grey socks, I would toss them in too! ;)Wear tennis shoes to fly in and pack the flip flops.
And I love the H2O toiletry products! Lotion, conditioner, shampoo.... Their hairdryer is a 1500 watt and works pretty well.

Awesome! Congrats to your sister and to you as well! What great fortune!

Argh! I'm so jealous! But also VERY happy for you! :dance3: I keep praying for a PIN for 40% off but alas, I am starting to doubt it'll happen. And I need to book my air soon so once I do that, I'm pretty much locked in. BLAH!!!!!

How long do you all typically go to Disney for? I am booked 8nts - first family trip. And with 2 little ones, I figure we'll go at a bit slower pace. But I'm not having luck with great airfare and may have to shorten it to 7nts (to get the better fare). So now I'm feeling like I'll miss out on a whole day! Really wanted a good day or so just to relax at the Poly and let the girls enjoy the beach and pool, etc.

How exciting for you!!

How do these PINS get sent to us? Do they come via email or postal mail? We've made quite a few trips to WDW and I don't think I've ever gotten one, so I thought I'd inquire as to how they are sent--so I can be on the lookout. How cool would that be??!!

My sister's came by email (check your spam filter occasionally!), but I think they also come by mail sometimes.

Yes, definitely check your spam filter. I received emails from Disney all the time, however the email with the pin offer was actually in my spam....glad I rescued it!

Stayed in Tokelau, Room #3917 in Sept. '08 and absolutely loved it! Walked straight out the patio doors to quiet pool; I'm a smoker and there was a DSA right across from the entrance to the longhouse; was close to bus stop; (hint) when going to GCH you can "cheat" and walk down the hallway through Rarotonga; it's a lot shorter! Shhhhhhh ... do it quietly:rolleyes1; a little bit longer walk to TTC but very pleasant; view from small balcony of 3rd floor facing the Lagoon is beautiful:yay: YES .... I'd request Tokelau again in a heartbeat!:thumbsup2

I was thinking about Tokelau for our next visit...can you see the lagoon from both sides, or just one side? What do you call the side facing the castle? If you wanted a sideways lagoon view, how might I request it when I make my ressie? It's funny, because I have 7 months to go for our next trip and I'm already thinking about which longhouse again. I thought it would be easier next time that I've already been, but now that I've walked around and seen their locations, it might be even harder this time! My three favorite spots were Tokelau, Samoa, and Fiji. If Niue had a balcony on the second floor, I'd probably think about that one too :)

Do the club level rooms have a theme park view option?

You can request club level lagoon view but from what I've read and been told there are a few rooms that will not have a castle view. Also, if a balcony is important to you, be sure to request the third floor.

Do y'all think it increases your odds at getting a balcony if you arrive earlier in the day? We have always arrived around 4:00 and didn't have any luck 3 years ago getting a balcony or a patio. Maybe this year as we get there at 11:00 we will have better luck.

I just booked my air for our Dec trip! :cool1: I had to cut it back from 8nts to 7nts b/c the airfare returning on Sunday was a good $40 per person more. So figuring another $160 plus another hotel night/food - just didn't seem worth it for the extra night - as much as I'd have LOVED it. Oh plus we wouldn't have gotten home till 10p and DH has to work the next day. So, boo hoo, onlky 7nts but somehow I'll survive, right???

How long do you all typically go for? This is our first family trip and, honestly, I doubt we'll be able to go back for at least 3-4 yrs. So of course I want to cram in as much as possible. I was thinking with the 6 full days we have that I'd do one day at each park with an extra at MK and then leave one day for DTD and enjoying the resort. Is that a good plan with a 2 and 3 yr old???
