this sounds like a lot of fun.! but...... if you look at this thread you will see we are fast approaching 250 post. I would hope that this thread is not closed before everyone can upload their pics!

Might I suggest you starting a new thread.. and everyone here that is on this thread, quote you with your new thread link on the other threads that we are subscribed to. it could get large very fast!

interested?

I suggest a new thread titled June 2011 Photo Safari and everyone who joins can post there. Come on Toomanycars, go make the new thread and put the rules and everything on it and then link it back here so we can subscribe to it!!

I 2nd that!

Sounds like a new thread may be needed for the photos. In the completed trip reports forum? What do you all think of that location or do you have a better idea?:confused3

I am IN for the photo safari!!!

Cool idea and I can't wait to see what people choose as their pics!

Question for everyone: how are you getting there? Flying? Driving? Renting a car? Magical express? Yes or no?

Just curious!!

I'm in for the safari too! Put the list into my iPhone! Now, let's just hope I remember once we get there! :lmao:

We are driving there (about 17-18 hours from TX).

We *were* driving..... however.... I love my mom soooooo much :goodvibes She has given us some of her frequent flier miles to fly and rent a car!!!

:woohoo: No 15hr drive to Miami (and after BFFs wedding we go to WDW) :woohoo:

Only downfall is no direct flights Richmond to Miami on the airline that we have miles for, so we have an 1hr layover in ATL... Really cant complain tho - It beats driving all night long!!!!!!

Some like it hot team members, as June approaches you and your family are about to set sail on a mission to the deepest and darkest recesses of Walt Disney World. I wish you good luck and a safe voyage. For those of you who are strong and brave of heart, I have a mission for you. A photo safari, ten photographs you or a family member will take this June. Upon your safe and potentially penniless return, post them to this thread for all to enjoy. Are you up to it??? But wait, not just any photos will do. It’s time for the mission list.

1. Photograph a hidden Mickey.
What’s a hidden Mickey? A Hidden Mickey is a representation of Mickey Mouse that has been inserted subtly into the design of a ride, attraction, or other location in a Disney theme park or elsewhere on Disney properties. The most common Hidden Mickey is a formation of three circles that may be perceived as the silhouette of the head and ears of Mickey Mouse, often referred to by Disney aficionados as a "classic Mickey." Over time, the term Hidden Mickey has come to refer to a range of possibilities from a more complete representation of Mickey Mouse (such as Mickey mixed in with a crowd or in the background), or a representation of another character (such as the huge hidden Jafar at the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail in Africa in the Animal Kingdom). Hidden Mickeys are found in various Disney media, such as animated films, feature length movies, TV series, or the Disney theme parks. Mickeys may be painted, made up of objects (such as rocks, or three plates on a table), or be references such as someone wearing Mickey Mouse Club ears in a painting. Hidden Mickeys can take on many sizes and forms.

2. Food! A photograph of a favorite food item from WDW.
Zebra dome or a Mickey bar…. Or maybe the kitchen sink?

3.
Wildlife, photograph an animal.
Be it a duck, tiger or your DH in that swimsuit you should have thrown away.

4. Planes, trains and automobiles.
If you can ride it photograph it!

5. Fireworks!

6. A photograph that represents The Magic Kingdom, but not of Cinderella’s castle.

7. A photograph that represents Epcot, but not of Spaceship Earth.

8. A photograph that represents Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but not of The Sorcerer's Hat.

9. A photograph that represents Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but not of The Tree of Life.

10. That moment in your trip that made it all worthwhile.

Photographic skill does not matter just be creative, think outside of the norm and bring back photo memories that will last a lifetime.

June 21st needs to hurry up and get here so I can stop shopping!

toomanycars, that sounds like a lot of fun!

:lmao: I know what you mean. I am sitting here making another list for another run to the store & we are heading to the mall this weekend for a few last minute things too. :woohoo:

toomanycars, I LOVE  LOVE this idea!! Count me in!!:thumbsup2

21 more days for us!!!

For the question: We are driving, 10 hours from Alabama ;)

We are from Alabama too!! We will also be driving down, and I bought a five hour energy drink to help me make it.:lmao: No kidding! We are leaving after my DD graduates on the 27th, so around 9pm, and we will drive as far as I can. My crazy mother said she didn't care if we only made it to the next town, she is just wanting to hit the road!:lmao:

Because of where we are, it's mostly 2 lane highways until we hit I-75 in Georgia. That's the only bad thing. Once I hit the interstate I am fine. I don't know what it is about 2 lane highways and log trucks, chicken trucks, slow poke trucks and everything else. I am hoping that by traveling at night we will avoid some of that. ;)

My goal is to make it to Lake City, FL. There is a really nice hotel there that we stayed at before and since DH is not going with us, I want to stay somewhere that I feel safe.

I have started packing up a few things for the trip. It felt sooo good getting those things together yesterday. :cloud9:

Driving her too from Memphis Tn!! Leaving on the 2nd after sons baseball game. Night driving is great kids sleeping  Then to Clearwater Beach on 3rd and 4th! Then over to Disney for 8 days!!
:cool1: :banana::banana: :dance3: :grouphug:

Another driving family here

We will be making the 1158 mile trek from Texas. We have driven it before and with enough Disney DVDs and audiobooks it works really well. We leave Friday the 10th at about 2pm. We'll stop in Baton Rouge for the night and will drive the rest of the way Saturday the 11th. On the way home we are driving through Atlanta and visiting my Dad for Father's Day.

I read that gas prices should start coming down. We budgeted for gas to be $4.50 per gallon back when it was climbing each day. I am hoping for $3.50 by then, heck, I would love $3.00 but that's wishful thinking.

We are driving from the DFW area of Texas. It's a little over 20 hours and we plan to stop for the night somewhere in the Florida panhandle. We usually drive straight through but it is really, really hard to keep awake:drive: especially since the week before we leave we have a kindergarten graduation for DD#3, a promotion ceremony for DD#2 and a high school graduation for DD#1.

Hope you fellow Texans have a wonderful drive! I'd be curious to hear how it goes. We live in Abilene, which is around 3 hours west of Dallas. So far I haven't been brave enough to drive, but would like to try sometime! I think the trip down wouldn't be too bad - but the drive home would be killer! Safe travels to you!

Oh yeah I hope you are able to avoid the slow poke trucks!! We will be going down through Montgomery and into GA, also going through Lake City, FL. Hopefully with very few stops. We live in north/central AL so we can hit 65 easily and go straight down. ;) We will leave home between 2-3am so that we can make it to ASMo resort to check in by 2-3pm. I can't wait!!!! :woohoo:

First post!

I've lurked for a while, but it doesn't feel right not to at least thank the disboards for all the help in planning previous and my upcoming (and last-minute) trip to Disney. I swore I wouldn't take my son until he was older, but here he is, 2 years old and we all needed an easy vacation. Mid June will be crowded and hot, but with a stay at Kidani--who knows if we'll make it out to the parks more than once!

thanks again. Now I must stalk disney dining reservations again for last minute cancellations!

WELCOME!!!

I have been an avid disboard-er for years and I have to say you can hardly find a better place to get information about Disney!

I am sure you will have a GREAT vacation, but I don't think it will be as crowded as you think... For our days, The Unofficial Guide is giving us a 5-6 crowd projection. :thumbsup2 That's not too bad!

Now... for the heat... no good news there, but as long as you are prepared and hydrated you will be fine!

I've subscribed to the Photo Safari thread...I'm IN!!!

We'll be driving 1.5 hours to the New Orleans airport for a 1.5 hr. flight to the MCO!!! I can't wait!!!!

2 weeks and 6 days or 20 Days before our trip!!!!

I am in AWE of all you folks who are driving...

When we crunched numbers and looked at gas prices, hotel for a night on the way and food, flying was just a tiny bit more expensive and OH SO MUCH faster! :cool2:

You guys are DISNEY-MASTERS! I bow to your greatness!!! :worship:

DH, DD, me and DD's BF will be flying out of Austin on the 15th of June. We are staying at Coronado Springs....

Where are YOU staying???
