Question time:
One thread that is always on the boards is tip amounts for DDP meals. The 15% 18% 20% talks. But my question for team June is, do you tip less at a buffet meal compared to a full service one? We have always tipped the same are we over tipping?

we plan on tipping a little less at buffets because they don't really do as much. Refilling drinks doesn't warrant 20% in my book. My normal is 10% at buffets, but at Disney I plan on a little more, especially since I'll have my 2 tornadoes (aka toddlers) with me that are eating for free. We're planning on 15%, and if the service is amazing we'll add more.

I got curious and decided to do the math... we're spending $9.85/hour per person. I only counted the hours that we're going to be at the parks/pool/restaurant though. Not total vacation hours. It's only $5.08/hour per person if you count sleeping and getting ready time. I think I like that number better ;)

*another* ADR to add. 11:30am on June 1st at Via Napoli. I read a food review and it looked really good. The only CS we have planned now is Pizza Planet! :3dglasses I plan on gaining 10 lbs :rotfl:

We will be there June 11th-18th, it was just decided today. My mom wants to take Me, DD & DS for DS 12th birthday, but I have to plan it all! In a month and a half :scared1:, We will be staying off property.

Welcome! I put all your information on page 1 of the thread.

I'll be in WDW June 2 - June 7 staying at CBR with my sister.

We are going because we got free QS dinning and had airline vouchers that would expire the end of June.

Our parents, 57 and 61, will be joining us on Sunday and Monday to celebrate Mom's birthday and Dad's graduation from Johns Hopkins! :) We will be the reverse of most families I think!

Welcome! Sounds like a fun trip. I added you to our list on page 1. :yay:

We'll be there June 11th at WL then June 12-19 at Wyndham Bonnet Creek

Our ADRS:

June 12th: Tusker House 1:35pm
June 13th: Crystal Palace 2pm
June 14th: Sci Fi 1:20pm
June 15th: Cali Grill 7:45pm
June 17th: TRex 9pm
June 18th: Chef Mickey's 11am

7 weeks from today :cool1:

Welcome! I added all your information to the list as well. Welcome to the group!

*another* ADR to add. 11:30am on June 1st at Via Napoli. I read a food review and it looked really good. The only CS we have planned now is Pizza Planet! :3dglasses I plan on gaining 10 lbs :rotfl:

I added your new ADR to the list.

I have been going through DIS board withdraw. I was at my parents all weekend and although I access, we were so busy that I didn't get to update anything. Although it was fun, I am glad to be home. :goodvibes

Here are our ADR's for the June part of the trip.
6/25 Cape May Cafe 9:05 AM
Whispering Canyon Cafe 7:30 PM

6/26 California Grill 7:45 PM

6/27 'Ohana 8:10 PM

6/29 Sci-Fi 6:45 PM

6/30 Crystal Palace 7:00 PM

Has anyone used the restaurant.com gift certificates before? Can I use more than one for the same meal as long as it doesn't say one per table or anything like that? Was thinking about trying House of Blues and was thinking about purchasing 2 $25 gift certificates instead of 1 $50.00.

Used to be limited to one per group, regardless of whether you are seated at the same table. Read the restaurant.com policies as well as though on your certificate. They will go by both sets of policies unless the wording on the certificate overrides one of their policies.

Can't wait to watch this when I get home!!(can't watch youtube at work) I bet they are excited now! I don't know that my kids could get past the fact that Boba Fett was standing in front of them.

LOL Most of the video is my son staring at him with an open mouth and my girls just watching because they were so overwhelmed by him! :rotfl:

And, because I check religiously :surfweb: , we just discovered the AP rates are out for trips through August 13th. So we're now going to stay at POR June 24-26 instead of the Marriott Village.

woohoo... just scored $170.00 worth of free Disney merchandise for our trip!
10 tshirts, Donald Duck cap, 3 tote bags, 2011 trading pin, plush Steamboat Willey, and free shipping to boot!

We paid for $1,700.00 worth of our trip with those $100 gift cards from Sam's that came with the bonus $10.00 Disney Store giftcard.

It took some creative shopping but I got my total to $169.80.
Not bad... I should have gone on the Price is Right!

I am so glad that I found these boards :goodvibes

1) What resort have you stayed at the most? Boardwalk (Inn or Villas)

2) What would be your Disney dream job (character, ride operator, imagineer, etc)? Anything to do with the parades... they are so amazing!

3) When you think of Disney World, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Being a kid again:cool1:

4) Have you ever traveled to Disney solo? or would you? I have never, and I do not think that I would only because I love sharing the experience.

5) Are you an obsessive ADR maker (I know a few already-) or do you go with the flow? ADRs like CRAZY!!! I have been working on the ADRs since January :rotfl2:

6) Do you plan your park days based on EMH? If so, do you avoid them or go to them? I go to them... with the extra time I can go back to the room... go swimming and still have time to go back to the park at night when its cooler.

7) What is the best souvenir you have ever gotten from Disney? I still remember my Figment stuffed animal... I would say that.

8) Do you book standard rooms or go for "the views"? The views... it just enhances the "Disney" feeling... no matter where you are.

9) Have you ever gotten a towel animal? If yes, what was your favorite and where did you stay? Not that I can remember...

10) What is your favorite character meal and why? I love the character meals... I would say Crystal Palace... mostly because we make them for before the park opens and then when you are done... you are already in the park. :tink:

1) What resort have you stayed at the most? AKL!

2) What would be your Disney dream job (character, ride operator, imagineer, etc)? The "Bird" in the Festival of the Lion King. That looks like soooo much fun!

3) When you think of Disney World, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Family

4) Have you ever traveled to Disney solo? or would you? No, don't think I could.

5) Are you an obsessive ADR maker (I know a few already-:rotfl:) or do you go with the flow? Yes, and also an obsessive Resort Ressie Maker, lol.

6) Do you plan your park days based on EMH? If so, do you avoid them or go to them? Yes, usually avoid them. Go to Early hours. Go to park day after they have late night hours.

7) What is the best souvenir you have ever gotten from Disney? Signed paintings from Timothy - Artist at AKL. We have actually become good friends over the years. Favorite is "Elephant Family".

8) Do you book standard rooms or go for "the views"? Standard, but have been very lucky with free upgrades over the years.

9) Have you ever gotten a towel animal? If yes, what was your favorite and where did you stay? Monkey at Poly

10) What is your favorite character meal and why?
Cinderella's breakfast in the castle, because it was DD's first trip at 3 years old. Watching her reactions was heartwarming.

We were booked at the BWI - lovely place, lovely location; but I got to thinking about swimming and feeling less-than-enthused about the pool at the BWI. Since we'll be there in June, pool is important.

So, starting about the first of April, I called frequently to see if there was any way to move over to Beach or Yacht Club so that we could be at Storm-a-long Bay. Each time I checked, there were availabilities only in concierge. I couldn't justify concierge - especially since we've got free dining! It really put the total package price out of reach. The last time I called, the CM I spoke with said that even if rooms freed up at YC or BC, they likely wouldn't be available with our package -- in other words, we'd have to give up FD.

Today, I figured I'd give it another try and VOILA! The CM found a garden-view room at YC that kept our package price the same as our standard room at BWI. I was so excited! She was excited for me and said that YC was her favorite and that Storm-a-long bay was AMAZING!

The best thing is that I was figuring on having to spend a day at TL or BB - but I think that SAB might just be exactly what we need. Thoughts?

Thanks for letting me gush!
