OK question time, just to wake everyone up!

What, when and where was your best meal inside of Walt Disney World? In June 2010, we had supper at Wolfgang Puck Express, DTD Marketplace. DH had the Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf dinner and I had the Rotisserie Chicken dinner.

Why was it the best? We enjoy counter service eateries and this one was just the best comfort food--delicious, generous portions--and although you ordered it at a counter, they seated you and brought the food to you. Our waiter was really personable.

What did you eat? DH, bacon-wrapped meatloaf dinner and cheesecake and I had the rotisserie chicken dinner and frozen yogurt.

If you have eaten there again was it just as good as the first time? Yes, we went back later the same week. The CM at the counter recognized us. The food and service were absolutely as good as the first visit. It poured down rain during the 2nd visit and after the meal, we had a weirdly fun time out on the covered terrace with a hoard of others who were also waiting for a break in the rain.

Do you have photos? No.

You loved it, but did DH, DD or DS love it too? Absolutely!

4/22 Friday Questions!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) What resort have you stayed at the most?

We haven't repeated resorts yet. We stayed 7 nights at Dixie Landings and Coronado Springs. We did more resort stuff at Dixie Landings.

2) What would be your Disney dream job (character, ride operator, imagineer, etc)?

I'd want to be a member of the vocal group that records the soundtracks for various shows, parades, rides, etc.

3) When you think of Disney World, what is the first thing that comes to mind?

I was there before the park actually opened.

4) Have you ever traveled to Disney solo? or would you?

I haven't traveled or stayed solo but I toured solo while my friend was in seminars at a conference.

5) Are you an obsessive ADR maker (I know a few already-) or do you go with the flow?

We enjoy counter service dining, so we mostly go with the flow but make a few ADR's. The DH says "you know you love making plans," and I do, but we don't like to be at the tyranny of a strict schedule for all of our meals.

6) Do you plan your park days based on EMH? If so, do you avoid them or go to them?

It varies from one trip to another. Prior to buying DVC, we never expected to return soon, so we planned to be in the parks every waking minute and followed the EMH schedules. Now that we are DVC owners, we treat our time at WDW in a more relaxed manner, and schedule a lot of non-park days and select our park days based more on projected crowd levels for the days we want to be in a park.

7) What is the best souvenir you have ever gotten from Disney?

DH likes the music DVDs and his build-your-own light saber. I'm really fond of my Disney bling.

8) Do you book standard rooms or go for "the views"?

It depends on the resort and what kind of deals we can get and how many points we want to (or have to) use for that specific trip.

9) Have you ever gotten a towel animal? If yes, what was your favorite and where did you stay?

We got swans when we stayed at Wilderness Lodge. I got a big kick out of the business shirt and tie we got at Coronado Springs.

10) What is your favorite character meal and why?

I've only done two character meals, so my favorite so far would have to be the Garden Grill in the Land pavilion at Epcot. My DD and I ate there on her only trip to WDW and it was a wonderfully peaceful and unhurried meal. She had just turned 13 before that trip and now, 13 years later, she still remembers our "breakfast with Chip & Dale in the restaurant that revolved," and looks forward to taking her daughter (now 8 months old) there some day.

1) What resort have you stayed at the most? Pop Century (Trips I Paid), Ft Wilderness (Parent's paid trips)

2) What would be your Disney dream job (character, ride operator, imagineer, etc)? Character Show Performer... Singing/Dancing ETC (Something like Beauty & the Beast)

3) When you think of Disney World, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Walking down main st, and heading straight for Cinderella's Castle

4) Have you ever traveled to Disney solo? or would you? Haven't. Probably wont ever go without DD

5) Are you an obsessive ADR maker (I know a few already-) or do you go with the flow? LOL, Yes... I love to plan.... Usually one ADR per day but I have been known to change my mind quite a few times prior to arrival date :upsidedow

6) Do you plan your park days based on EMH? If so, do you avoid them or go to them? Depends, This year we are trying to maximize our early magic hours to gain access to that precious hour with an empty park!

7) What is the best souvenir you have ever gotten from Disney? Precious Photos and Memories of DD meeting Mickey for the first time at age 2 and kissing his nose over and over

8) Do you book standard rooms or go for "the views"? Standard. We dont spend enough time in the room to care about the view. lol.

9) Have you ever gotten a towel animal? If yes, what was your favorite and where did you stay? We got bunches of them last trip (2009) at Pop Century

10) What is your favorite character meal and why? Cinderella's Royal Table. I am a sucker for eating in the palace.... add in the Princessess and I am sold! We eat here every trip! :goodvibes

Today, we let the kids in on our little secret! A friend who costumes as a variation of Boba Fett (from Star Wars) delivered the news to the kids. The video isn't terribly impressive as it was shot in windy conditions and is mostly my 4 year old staring in awe at Boba Fett...but I'll share anyways..... :cool1:

mine's $26.40 per hour, $8.80 per person/per hour. Ouch.

Ouch is right! Mine's $27.70 per hour, but since there's only 2 of us, it works out to $13.85 per person!:scared1: That's without airfare, ground transportation, tips, or alcohol.:sad2: Like I said, I'm glad I already paid before I did this math!

honestly... I haven't worked out the June (real, week-long vacation) trip yet. That one might sound more reasonable- I'll do it when I return home from church and dinner today. This trip that I just calculated was for the one i'm taking in 11 days. (May6-8 at the Poly CL). It's a very short "once in a lifetime" for my mom and MIL, so just this once, Dh and I don't care what I spent on it. :woohoo:

But our annual June trip... that's coming up next. stay tuned. :thumbsup2

Ok, just calculated the June trip...

$16.50 per hour, that's $8.25 per person/ per hour (because Cami is still free)

That included:
3 nights at AKL-Jambo in Deluxe Studio (through David's DVC)
3 nights Deluxe Dining Plan
4 nights in Club Level at Portofino Bay Resort
1 adult admission to Sea World for 1 day (both Cami and I are free)
and $200 for dinner the nights we're at PBR

Mike and I have annual passes for both WDW and USO- so no cost there.

Really... I feel better now.

Thanks for making me do that. Now I must MUST go get ready for Easter service. HAPPY EASTER! :goodvibes

1) What resort have you stayed at the most? After growing up with stays at cheap hotel in Kissimmee, vowed to stay on property - Dixie Landings/Port Orleans Riverside

2) What would be your Disney dream job (character, ride operator, imagineer, etc)? Door greeter at Haunted Mansion

3) When you think of Disney World, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Seeing the Castle and walking down Main Street (Last few visits I actually teared up!)

4) Have you ever traveled to Disney solo? or would you? No - but never say never.

5) Are you an obsessive ADR maker (I know a few already-) or do you go with the flow? Completely obsessive! My family won't even come around when I have the Disney notebook out. In fact - I have the "official, final, won't change again" ADR list that I need to post.

6) Do you plan your park days based on EMH? If so, do you avoid them or go to them? Depends on am or pm EMH. We always go to MK am EMH. It's magical in the early am. We usually try to plan a late dinner around pm EMH at EP and MK. This allows us time for a nice dinner and we are able to trade extra park time for the girls so that they aren't rushing through their meal to get back to the fun.

7) What is the best souvenir you have ever gotten from Disney? Photopass CD

8) Do you book standard rooms or go for "the views"? Standard.

9) Have you ever gotten a towel animal? If yes, what was your favorite and where did you stay? We only got the welcome one when we checked in, but POR mousekeeping always arranges the girls' stuffed animals for us. We've found them in some interesting arrangements.

10) What is your favorite character meal and why? Crystal Palace - love Eeyore and Piglet :lovestruc

I find this very intriguing! Must know more!

My dad loved road trips and during the summer of 1970 we did a trip to see the essential Florida. Along with touring St. Augustine in a horse drawn trolley, seeing dolphins at the Miami Seaquarium, driving down the keys to the southern tip of the state, seeing wild animals in the Everglades, watching Gator wrestling at Gatorland, and riding a double decker bus into an orange grove to pick our own oranges, we stopped at this place near Orlando where Walt Disney was building a new park. Mostly there was a big parking lot and you could see the track where a "monorail" train was going to run, but there was a building with a gift shop and a film of Walt Disney talking about the 2 parks he had planned and the hotels, and then there were these mannequins of U.S. Presidents that moved and talked. (That's what they seemed like to a nine-year-old from the middle of nowhere in PA.) My best friend since childhood still has the mug I bought her there. And I have the parking lot ticket stub.

Can't wait to watch this when I get home!!(can't watch youtube at work) I bet they are excited now! I don't know that my kids could get past the fact that Boba Fett was standing in front of them.

1) What resort have you stayed at the most? We've only stayed at Pop, but that has been our only trip so far.

2) What would be your Disney dream job (character, ride operator, imagineer, etc)?I would be happy w/any job at Disney! First choice would probably be a character since I meet the height req for most of them, but the downside would be the heat in the summer. Second choice would be ride operator at the Haunted Mansion.

3) When you think of Disney World, what is the first thing that comes to mind? The first time we stepped off the bus at Epcot and DS said "Mom that's a huge golf ball"

4) Have you ever traveled to Disney solo? or would you?Never have traveled solo. I'm not opposed to it, but I don't think I would have as much fun.

5) Are you an obsessive ADR maker (I know a few already-:rotfl:) or do you go with the flow?I am an obsessive ADR maker. I have a countdown calendar to when I can make ADR's and meticulously plan each restaraunt and time.

6) Do you plan your park days based on EMH? If so, do you avoid them or go to them?Sometimes. We have park hoppers this time, so I think we might actually take advantage of them more on this trip.

7) What is the best souvenir you have ever gotten from Disney? My mickey ears hat. I waited a long time for it!

8) Do you book standard rooms or go for "the views"?We always book preferred rooms. We like being close to the action.

9) Have you ever gotten a towel animal? If yes, what was your favorite and where did you stay?Never gotten one. Hoping for one on this trip. If we don't get it, no big deal.

10) What is your favorite character meal and why?I would say Crystal Palace b/c I love pooh, my family would say Chef Mickey's.

Just 1147 hours till our trip!
Our trip is only costing us $19.27 per hour or $4.82 per person per hour. It's not to bad when you do it per hour.

Hmmm I did not think about the DVC rooms, 8 nights and the AP's.

If I add in $1700 for the AP's and guess at $300 a night for BLT and AKV, $2400.

So that would make it $29.95 per hour or $7.49 per person per hour.

"Numbers, the problem with numbers is their are too many of them."

I just figured out mine... it's $32.01 per hour... and since I am going solo.... I am really glad I paid for it already... but hell.. it's 9 days at AKL - Concierge level with the platinum dining plan... I have a special tour almost every day and ADRs like mad! This trip is a gift to me from me!

When I plan my next trip, I think I'll stay on property at a more moderately priced hotel.

I am getting more and more excited as the days count down.. I feel like a 6 year old!

(Crud, I realized I posted this in a June thread.. I thought this was an all-around thread.. sorry to invade!)

Has anyone used the restaurant.com gift certificates before? Can I use more than one for the same meal as long as it doesn't say one per table or anything like that? Was thinking about trying House of Blues and was thinking about purchasing 2 $25 gift certificates instead of 1 $50.00.

Question time:
One thread that is always on the boards is tip amounts for DDP meals. The 15% 18% 20% talks. But my question for team June is, do you tip less at a buffet meal compared to a full service one? We have always tipped the same are we over tipping?
