Marlton Mom - I am going to miss you at Disney, but if I were there, I would be sure to yell to you and then chase you down. LOL..

@kittylady1972 My son who is 7 rode Expedition Everest for the 1st time our last trip n I must say it was a sight...DBIL got it on video. He face was priceless...said he wasnt scared after but his face said other wise during:scared1:

:lmao:Ha that sounds just like my oldest! His first ride on EE was back in 2007 I think? So he would have been 7.5 years old. I videotaped it from the seat in front of him...so I could look back and see his face. The video begins from when we stopped at the top of the tracks that ended...and then started rolling backwards. His face was PRICELESS! However he did get off that ride and said he was NOT going back on it.:rotfl2:

Now his sister rode it for the first time in Dec 2009 (she was also 7) and she LOVED LOVED LOVED it! He has been on it since as well.

So my 6-year-old DS will be next on it and can't wait to see his reaction. If it's anything like the video I have of him riding BTMRR...it will be pretty much a blank look the entire time. Too funny!:rotfl2:

I should post some of those videos here!

1) What things do you pack in your suitcase that are just for Disney?
Disney spray bottles, lanyards, ponchos, surprises for the family

2) Ok, be honest, how many people have started packing for Disney already?
I have had a box out for quite some time now that I throw things in as I come across them. The suitcases are out and a few things have made it into them so far.

3) What special traditions do you have to prepare for Disney? (making T-shirts, watching movies, countdown calendars, etc)
We usually have a get-together just before we go to do shirts, door signs and goodie bags!

4) Does your family tour commando style, absolutely care free, or somewhere in the middle?
I would say commando/middle ground tourers. Definitely have to have some type of schedule!

5) What is the one thing you really want to try "new" at Disney this year? (in other words, something you have never done before)
Haunted Mansion! I know- iconic Disney and I have never done it! I have never been able to convince anyone to go with me but I think I have my DD talked into going with me this year.

6) Describe your family to us so we know who to "look out for" in Disney?
Myself- 31 years old-under 5 feet tall-get told all the time that I look like a teenager!
DD- 9 years old- tiny too. Absolute princess
DMom- lets say over 60- also under 5 feet tall- will be on a scooter (has knee issues and recently had a stroke
DSis- 40's- got the height in the family
DNiece- 16- got height from her mom- stunningly beautiful
Mom's friend- lets say over 60- also on a scooter
Mom's friends grandson- 15- usually has an electronic game in hand
This is the crew that will be joining us at WDW. We have 7 more meeting up with us for our cruise on the Disney Dream!

To help us pass another week, another round of questions to help us get to know each other...
LOVE THESE!

1) What things do you pack in your suitcase that are just for Disney?
The Disney ponchos. We only have 3 I think and we learned last trip the ADULT ones were way too long for the kids. They are the clear plastic ones not the yellow. So now I believe we have two adult and one child one. Plus I pack a blue Mickey raincoat (that a child wore last time). We must pack the Hidden Mickeys book again for the parks...that was a fun activity last trip to pass time. Plus of course copies of my spreadsheets, menus and plans.

2) Ok, be honest, how many people have started packing for Disney already?
I have the bag with Mickey Ponchos and have been putting other stuff in it as well, mostly small toiletries and fun trip-related items like notepads and games and such for the kids. I have purchased some comfortable headphones for them to use on the train and in the car to help drown out the noise and help them sleep on the trip. I have purchased some matching Phineas and Ferb shirts for the boys and the girl has a new Minnie shirt as well...but it's not packed since she picked it out.

3) What special traditions do you have to prepare for Disney? (making T-shirts, watching movies, countdown calendars, etc)
Well I mentioned our behavior/rewards chart which has a countdown on it as well. Every day the kids can earn a check which equals $1 to spend in Disney and beside each day is the number of days left until Disney. I have made shirts in the past...not sure if I'll do that this year. Was thinking of buying or making a very basic t-shirt and having the kids carry color fabric markers to have the characters sign...or maybe a hat instead of a shirt. Still trying to decide!

4) Does your family tour commando style, absolutely care free, or somewhere in the middle?
Somewhere in the middle. We have our commando moments where we try to hit as much as possible and follow a plan. We try to plan for some carefree moments and downtime at the pool too.

5) What is the one thing you really want to try "new" at Disney this year? (in other words, something you have never done before)
I think DH, DS 6 and MIL and FIL are going to do the Fishing Excursion which I'll book soon. I was considering signing the other two kids up for one of the Disney Education Series events...not sure yet. I would love to try either surfing lessons or parasailing...not sure if we will though. We have something we want to try for the first time in EACH park. They are: Riverboat & Tom Sawyer Island at MK (DS 6 hasn't been to the island at all and it's been a long time since DH has been there...probably 1997); Animation Academy at Hollywood Studios (kids are all old enough to enjoy this now); Sum of all Thrills at EPCOT (well if the kids are tall enough...again that 48" mark is looming); Lion King Show at Animal Kingdom (nope haven't seen it yet)

6) Describe your family to us so we know who to "look out for" in Disney? LOL
Well if it's just the five of us you will find an Italian with almost no hair and probably two psychotic boys running around, probably in matching shirts or close to matching shirts and a little girl probably complaining that she wants to do another ride and maybe even pouting and a crazy short mommy with her smart phone in hand tracking the wait times and checking the schedule! They may be in travels with another old couple with a shortish woman and another very Italian looking man with gray hair probably rushing ahead of them trying to get them to the next place as fast as possible AND then a big and tall guy with a shortish Italian woman with salt-n-pepper hair and a boy with them about the size as the other kids in the group but the boy will either be talking no stop or crying and/or vomitting as they try to coax him on another ride! :rotfl2:

Had to pull my laptop out to book some hotels for our trip so I can finally answer these questions!

1) What is your favorite Disney park?
Magic Kingdom~it's classic Disney.

2) What is your least favorite Disney park?
If I have to answer . . . . I can't. I love them all.

3) Favorite attraction in each park?
-DHS? Tower of Terror
-MK? Haunted Mansion or Pirates of the Caribbean
-EPCOT? Test Track
-AK? Expedition Everest

4) When you go to Disney, what is the first thing you/your family usually does? We head to the Magic Kingdom.

5) What is your favorite Disney QS restaurant? Not for food quality, but I love Pinocchio's. We love to sit by the window and wave to the people riding It's A Small World.

6) What is your favorite Disney TS restaurant? Hoop Dee Doo! It's our family first night tradition.

7) What is your favorite Disney memory....(since the theme is Let the Memories Begin). I have so many but watching my oldest son's face as he approached Tower of Terror for his first ride at 4 years old.

8) What is your favorite hotel? Polynesian!

9) What is your favorite Disney movie? Cars

10) What Disney character would you most like to be? Cinderella! I would love to live in that castle!

And the other questions :)

1) What things do you pack in your suitcase that are just for Disney? Mickey ponchos, misty mate fans, Disney attire and pin lanyards.

2) Ok, be honest, how many people have started packing for Disney already? As much as I want to, I've not officially started yet. I have a bag with my Disney purchases and some other stuff. Misty mates, bagallini, neck pillows for the boys, ponchos, etc. I should just get my suitcase and start putting it all in LOL. I just don't have space to have a big suitcase sitting around until June.

3) What special traditions do you have to prepare for Disney? (making T-shirts, watching movies, countdown calendars, etc) We always do a countdown chain and hang it in Rylan's bedroom. This year, I have been putting Disney trivia facts in his lunch box. He loves it.

4) Does your family tour commando style, absolutely care free, or somewhere in between? We do somewhere in between. I try to plan and be strategic but we don't go nuts. This year we will have mid-day breaks from the heat.

5) What is the one thing you really want to try "new" at Disney this year? (in other words, something you have never done before) In all of the years I've been going to Disney, I've never been to Tom Sawyer's Island. I think we'll give that a go this year.

6) Describe your family to us so we know who to "look out for" in Disney? LOL

We are a pretty average family. My husband is tall, athletic and handsome :lovestruc. My oldest son is a little clone of him, with light blond hair and beautiful blue eyes. They both sport a very short hair cut . . . high and tight LOL. The baby will be 19 months for our trip. He looks like his brother but with more hair. I'm short with short, light hair and light eyes. Hoping to be be at least 20 lbs lighter before our arrival. You should definitely be able to pick us out, based on that description, of a crowd :rotfl:

have you seen the commercial on TV with the little boy dressed up as Darth Vadar??? It's a car commercial...

QUOTE]

These are my kids too. Everytime we go to a store w/electric doors that open they have to use the "force" to open them.

Here are my boys. Maybe you can pick us out of a sea of millions?

:rolleyes1
1I've been giving my 12 son Star Wars pins and I've been "writing" him "letters" from the Star Wars characters. So far he's gotten a letter from Darth Vader warning him to choose the Dark Side. If you call 1 407 827-2799 and press either 1 or 2 you can hear from "Red Leader" from the rebel alliance or the bad guys. I left my son a message that "Red Leader" called and he was supposed to call back and hit 1. My son really liked doing that!

[/B]

That is awesome. I'll have to have my kids call it. They don't know we are going to SWW. We are suprising them. Our local library had some of the 501st legion there this weekend. They loved it and asked why we can't go back to SWW. Little do they know, mwhaa. :rolleyes1

ETA: I just called the phone number and that is awesome! Thanks so much for posting. I think I'll have them call the number on speakerphone the morning of SWW and video tape them listening to the message. This is how we will tell them we are going to SWW.

My excitement is building! This morning i've managed to get quite a few things accomplished that i've been wanting to for quite some time. So far, i've...
1) Placed an order on ebags.com for a Sherpani XO backpack (after months of trying to decide which bag I would be using for Disney I decided the Sherpani XO backpack is the bag for me.

2) Ordered 2 tie dye, Mickey head tanks a piece for my daughter and me.

and

3) Reserved my Citi Mini Single stroller.

Now for the business at hand...
1) What things do you pack in your suitcase that are just for Disney?
Mickey head, tie dye tank tops, misting fan, ponchos

2) Ok, be honest, how many people have started packing for Disney already?
Months ago I began putting items in my "vacation bin", but I haven't begun putting items into a suitcase just yet.

3) What special traditions do you have to prepare for Disney? (making T-shirts, watching movies, countdown calendars, etc)
This is my daughter's and my first trip to "the world" so we don't have any existing traditions, but we'll be watching a different Disney movie every Friday night until our trip which i'm sure will become our Disney tradition.

4) Does your family tour commando style, absolutely care free, or somewhere in the middle?
I think out touring style will be somewhere in the middle. This is our first trip so i'm not sure what will happen once we're there, but i've subscribed to touringplans.com and tourguidemike.com and plan to use their touring plans to ensure we ride all of the major attractions. I don't want to be a drill sergeant or miss the "magic" of Disney by moving too fast, but I don't want to spend forever waiting attraction lines either.

5) What is the one thing you really want to try "new" at Disney this year? (in other words, something you have never done before)
I want to try a Dole Whip and maybe have a Grey Goose Slushie.

6) Describe your family to us so we know who to "look out for" in Disney? LOL
We'll be a large group of 10 ranging in ages from 2.5 - 65. Of the group there will be only 1 male. We hope to be running around like children having the time of our lives. You'll know us by our ear to ear grins.

1) What is your favorite Disney park?
Animal Kingdom

2) What is your least favorite Disney park?
If I have to answer . . . . I can't. I love them all.

3) Favorite attraction in each park?
-DHS? Toy Story Mania
-MK? Haunted Mansion or Pirates of the Caribbean
-EPCOT? Souring
-AK? Dinasour

4) When you go to Disney, what is the first thing you/your family usually does? We head to the Magic Kingdom.

5) What is your favorite Disney QS restaurant?
Flame Tree Barbaque

6) What is your favorite Disney TS restaurant?
Garden Grill / Tusker House

7) What is your favorite Disney memory?
Watching my daughter each time we first walk in to the Magic Kingdom

8) What is your favorite hotel?
POR

9) What is your favorite Disney movie?
Beauty and The Beast

10) What Disney character would you most like to be?
Belle

) What things do you pack in your suitcase that are just for Disney?
misting fan, ponchos, creative disign t shirts

2) Ok, be honest, how many people have started packing for Disney already?
T-shirts made and packed, puting things in suitcase as we buy

3) What special traditions do you have to prepare for Disney? (making T-shirts, watching movies, countdown calendars, etc)
We make two shirts for each day. Thats 22 shirts per person.

4) Does your family tour commando style, absolutely care free, or somewhere in the middle?
Mornings are Commando, evenings are Care Free

5) What is the one thing you really want to try "new" at Disney this year? (in other words, something you have never done before)
I want to visit more hotels

6) Describe your family to us so we know who to "look out for" in Disney?
We'll be a group of 10 . All dressed in the same t-shirts. one little man the rest girls.

Just started working on personalizing our autograph cards today and received (I think) the last rhinestone transfer for DD's shirts ... woo-hoo for 75 days!

1) What things do you pack in your suitcase that are just for Disney?
Mister fans, small clipboard & organizer with autograph cards, High School Musical sanitizer gel, lanyard/pins, cheapie ponchos

2) Ok, be honest, how many people have started packing for Disney already?
Not actually packing in the suitcase, but I have started getting items here & there when I go to Dollar Tree

3) What special traditions do you have to prepare for Disney?
Starting with our 99-day countdown, we started watching a Disney movie either Fri, Sat or Sun. When we hit 30-days, we'll have a Mickey head countdown calendar.

DD also loves to have personalized autograph cards, so I usually start those about the time I book so I have plenty of time to add text and then order the photo prints (I have blank templates and just add DD's name/year) - can't take any credit for the designs though (I'm sooo not crafty), but there are a bunch of guys/gals in Creative DISigns that have put them on Photobucket for personal use.

4) Does your family tour commando style, absolutely care free, or somewhere in the middle?
I would say that our family as a whole is in the middle. We do make ADRs, have a tentative park plan, and know what we do/don't want to do. However, we may not make every rope drop and I'm fine with that (sometimes an extra hour of sleep really CAN save a marriage :rotfl:) and have days where we just completely throw the plan away and just go on whatever has the shortest line or whatever is air-conditioned!

5) What is the one thing you really want to try "new" at Disney this year? (in other words, something you have never done before)
Pangani Forest Exploration Trail -- we also seem to miss it by saying "we'll do it later" but then never making it back

6) Describe your family to us so we know who to "look out for" in Disney? LOL
DH: 5'8" blonde short hair - loves coasters but won't ride anything that spins, so the best way to spot us is if you happen to be on Space Mountain, but then the same guy is watching his DW & DD on Dumbo ~ then it's probably us! :rotfl2:
Me: 5'3" light brown and/or red (depending on my mood the month before) bobbed hair. Will be snapping pics of everything and eating Mickey Premium bars by the carton.
DD9: 5' long blonde hair, depending on the time of day may either be giggling wildly or trying to act like we're not her parents. Has decided that this year she wants to wear Disney rhinestone shirts EVERY day we're there

Since pics are better than words (at least in my case), here's a better idea of who you should avoid, er watch out for:

Welcome! I added you to our list on page 1. :cheer2:

We really enjoy the DDP. We do DxDP though. It works great for us. We like to eat on vacation so this is a no brainer to us. Would we eat that much at home...no, but on vacation it's another story. We like having our meals prepaid for so that when we get there we only have to bring enough money for tips. We enjoy trying different foods. If you think you would eat a TS and a QS each day anyway, then I say, go for it and do the DDP. If you do not usually do TS or wouldn't do an average of one per day, then this is probably not the right plan for you.

Well, we have ADRs some nights, but we generally do QS/CS, or CL most times. It just looks so easy and convenient, and when I did the math, it was a little more than we'd spend potentially, but some people claim the convenience is worth the extra cost.
My party just likes to make things more complicated. :sad2:

Please count us in! Two Pooh-shaped 50-year-old empty nesters, staying at AKV Jambo House 06/25 - 07/03. After our June 2009 trip, we swore we'd never go back in the summer. Here we are again for the third June in a row! Work for a school and it dictates when you can get away for a vacation!

Welcome! :welcome: I added you to our list on page 1. We say that every year and we go back every year in the summer. We are also teachers and it's very hard finding any other time to visit. We enjoy it though! Looks like we will be there around the same time.
