The all New *OFFICIAL JUNE* 2011 thread! Some like it hot!

Welcome all new June travelers! I love all the ideas of how you're surprising your kids! Good luck with all of that!

We just got a Disney Visa a month or two ago, so I don't think we'll have enough Disney dollars to be worth getting a giftcard or anything with the dollars on it.

Oh, and just asking around, has anyone done a portrait session at one of the resorts by chance? We're going to need a senior portrait this year for DD16, and we would love any feedback about if you've participated in it, or if you've considered it, because Disney would be such a great place to have it done!

Not sure about the Portrait Sessions, but if your group heads over to the Animal Kingdom lodge there is a great place in the lobby that has a photo pass photographer that is just wonderful… I have attached two of the pictures that were taken last year. Might be an option… You can also get a nice group picture in the lobby of the Grand Floridian (but ours did not turn out so hot). Also an idea…

I think those are great shots, some of the best I've seen from a photopass shot! We'll be staying at AKL, but we're not sure if that's the best place for a portrait, but we're keeping options open, because we would love to do it where we're staying. Thanks for your photos and thoughts!

OK, I don't think I've posted here yet, but the thread is so big I can't go back and check.

Travelers are me, DH, DS17, DD15 & DD6. All have many Disney stays under their belt: the little one 4 herself.

We're going 6/10 - 6/20. Had originally booked AKL Kidani 1B through the 15th and two rooms at POP with free dining for the rest, becuase we were using the 35% code and couldn't get it for the whole trip. Then the 30% code came out which convinced us to stay at Kidani the whole trip! I've very excited to have the kitchen and laundry, plus just the nice resort to hang out it. We're commando tourers, but since it's an 11 day trip I look forward of some times to relax.

questions for people here:

If you've done two reservations at one resort, have you had to change rooms?

If you've done a villa stay, how much cooking have you done in the room?

What's a good room request for a Kidani standard view?

Wow, its been a long time since I have been on here. I have a lot to catch up on. Will post ADR's soon. Can't wait to be at Disney!!!!

5) What is your favorite place to relax at Disney (if that is possible-lol)?

Mexico

8) Now that we are closer to our dates, who has started to pack? yes

questions for people here:

If you've done two reservations at one resort, have you had to change rooms?

We have only done a room only the first night and then the rest at the same hotel and we did have to change rooms. I guess you could call Disney and request the same room if that is important to you, but it may not be possible to keep the same room. I think it depends on the other reservations and how things play out for all reservations around that time periood.

questions for people here:

If you've done a villa stay, how much cooking have you done in the room?

We have done villa stays the last three years and we do almost no cooking, but we prefer it that way on vacation. We use the kitchen most for breakfast...that is about it. And we usually do the DxDP so no need for cooking that much if at all.

questions for people here:

What's a good room request for a Kidani standard view?

If you are pool people, we always request standard near the pool because if not, the pool can be quite the hike. We also have requested near the lobby which puts you near the pool. If you want to be near the buses, put near transportation. If you are going to need to get to Jambo house a lot and will be walking over there, request near Jambo house, but it is major hike from the very end of the hotel near Jambo to anything else. We found that requesting by the lobby was when we got the best room.

First off Angel - I LOVE your pictures! The one with the sleeping boy is beyond adorable!

My DH and I are very excited about the surprise. We have three kids - DD 13, DS 12, DS 8. DD saw my planning spreadsheet so she's in on it but my boys have no idea. Their last day of school is a half day so we'll probably let them take the bus home and then load them into the car and start driving.

June can't get here soon enough!

DH is a salesman and drives about 800 miles a week... gas is KILLING us!

Oh well, looking forward to escaping to Disney in LESS THAN 2 MONTHS!!!!:cool1:

1) If you were to get a tattoo (or have a tattoo) of anything Disney, what would it be?

Also for the map we are alrdy represented!

speaking of chef mickey... :goodvibes I thought to put this offer out there (though I feel weird about it... :confused3 )

I ended up getting Chef Mickey ADR for:
Date: Thursday, June 2, 2011
Time: 7:40 a.m.
Party Size: 5 Guests

well, our party size is 2. see, three seats left open.... so any party of 3 or even 2 want to share a table? I only feel weird asking this because I think others are going to deem me weird for thinking of asking... but seriously, I don't think if I call to drop down to 2 that it will open any other space (cause the size of the table reserved.) so why NOT see if anyone wants to take those seats? The bill can be separated, so why not? :confused3

ETA: if no one responds to this, even by PM, within a few days, I'm going to call to drop it down to 2. Just wanted to see if anyone cares to share first.

OUCH! We're very lucky...I am 8 miles from work (against traffic:)), and DH is 2 miles from his office! Unless we take a trip, my husband only has to fill up once a month! I usually have to fill up twice a month.

If you were to get a tattoo (or have a tattoo) of anything Disney, what would it be?

Honestly cannot see me getting a tattoo of anything disney. the only tattoo I could think of is something very strongly tied to me, such as my Tribes symbol called Many Trails. (I may not look it, but I am indeed native american)

2) What is the longest trip you have taken to Disney?
Most likely any of the ones I took with my dad and I honestly cannot remember how long any of them were.

3) As an adult, how many Disney trips have you taken? :confused3 I think 2, with this upcoming to be 3rd.

4) As a child, how many Disney trips have you taken (if any)?
 I am thinking twice... oh wait, did get to go to disneyland once too so maybe three times. I have horrible memory!

5) What is your favorite place to relax at Disney (if that is possible-lol)?
In the bed when everything is closed and I am no longer able to move.

6) What is your favorite country in Epcot? don't have a fav yet, though if I had to guess it would be Germany as I have a love of the country.

7) What is your favorite "land" in Magic Kingdom? I really can't pick one! but I am guessing fantasy land as we spent the most amount of time there last time.

8) Now that we are closer to our dates, who has started to pack?
:wave I have! kinda... I packed two of my DD's outfits in ziplocs (thanks disboards!) and have been tossing odds and ends that I want to bring into another bag. nothing truly packed packed... but still, gathering has begun!

Oh man, I thought our 500 miles a week was bad! Gas just keeps going higher and higher :headache: Luckily our power company offers "budget billing", so it's the same price now all year round. It usually would be cheaper in the fall/spring when we didn't run heat or air, and crazy expensive in the summer, but now it's stays the same price year round. Much easier to budget around!
