Has anyone been doing anything to get physically "disney ready"? I've been walking to pick dd up from preschool every day about 2 miles away from home, back and forth about 4 miles, completely up hill on the way home. Dd is not too pleased with me but this way I won't feel too horrible if I make her walk one morning or afternoon since I'll know she's ready. To top it off its been drizzly here all week but I figure its more realistic!!

I haven't been doing anything, but I really need to get moving. I am in good shape, but it never fails that my leg muscles just feel so tired the first few days we are there. I really hope that with some walking this next month, I can keep that from happening. We will see I guess!

Not really for Disney but for my wedding which is the day before we head to Disney I'll probably be in the best shape of my life when we go on our trip so I'm excited about that.

I go to the gym every week day morning before work, but I'm extra motivated lately due to wedding & honeymoon! - I've made a 'Disney Gym' playlist on my ipod to keep me going.. it has things on it like "Celebrate You", Pirates music, Hannah Montana, High School Musical and (my favourite) the theme song from Phineas & Ferb!

Ugh, no, and I really wanted to for this trip. The one thing I have done is go to the tanning bed. I normally just use the tan in a can stuff, but it's a pain to get it to look right.

I'm glad you like it and I hope you ds does too. They do have different servers that play different music-you can listen to just Movie music, park music, holiday music, or a mixture of all of them. I love listening as I'm cleaning my house, it gets me psyched about our trip

I have been eating as much as possible to prepare my stomach for the glutony of food I will be eating on the dining plan for 2 weeks

Has anyone been doing anything to get physically "disney ready"? I've been walking to pick dd up from preschool every day about 2 miles away from home, back and forth about 4 miles, completely up hill on the way home. Dd is not too pleased with me but this way I won't feel too horrible if I make her walk one morning or afternoon since I'll know she's ready. To top it off its been drizzly here all week but I figure its more realistic!!

We have a 3 mile loop we try and do when the weather cooperates. Of course it's rained nearly every day sinch last Oct. Read somewhere that you walk at least 5 miles a day at disney.

Wow, my feet hurt just thinking about that! We've been trying to get the kids (4 and 6) to do more walking. We've done laps around our park, but the farthest we've gone in one stretch is about 1.5 miles. I'm hoping they will be more enthusiastic about walking when we're at Disney than there were at the park! I'm thinking there will need to be a fair amount of stroller time, especially since one of my boys has low muscle tone and is a bit of a toe walker.

I've been working out since the beginning of February for my trip. I started off on my old reliable wooden Nordic Trak when the weather was crappy, which was most of Feb, March AND April! I am now walking an hour a day for 4-5 times a week. My Achilles tendons are killing me but that is a long running problem so no news there. I've been stretching like a fiend too so I feel like I am ready.

My 12 y.o. DS is walking too but DH is fighting me on the walking so I keep telling him we are going to have to rent a scooter for him. In all fairness he is having foot problems so we will have to see how he fairs.

Those 12 mile days were pushing about 35 lbs in a stroller. The key is to have the BEST shoes possible, make sure your stamina is good before you leave, hydrate and rest when you can.

Great suggestions.. You live in philly? I go to Taney park, or the skuylkill river trail! Alway walking the dog in rittenhouse! Tell me about the national park and the wildlife preserve! I wanna see.. I didn't know about a wildlife preserve here.. Only the zoo. I have a membership there but they seem to lack imagination in ther exhibits.
