Earlier today I was able to look up my families upcoming reservations for this August and December without any problems.

Disney's computer system sucks...

Keep trying to sign in... it may work one minute and then not another...

PLUS...

You have to realize that A LOT of people are getting online because the Food and Wine fest falls in the 90 mark and also FREE DINING...

unless you are booking your adrs at 90+10, it is not necessary to book your ADRs with your room reservation. I tried to do the same, but it did not recognize my reservation #.

So I skipped that part and just booked 2 ADRs online, and printed out my confirmations. I then sent them to the GF IPO to have them add those ADRs to my itinerary that they help type up for me so that I have everythinbg on a single itinerary. If you don't use concierge services, it's still possible to make an ADR without a room/package reservation. Think about all the people who stay off site who want to eat at a TS restaurant. They wouldn't have a reservation # to use anyways.

So don't waste time waiting for the dining system to finally accept your reservation #...just make them without that information. You just need to give them your email address and a phone # where you can be reached while on vacation. You can access all your reservations using these 2 pieces of information.

Just back from our stay at GF.. I must say while it was nice, and nothing in particular was wrong, it just didn't suit me. We stayed in Sugar Loaf, and again, the only thing I didn't like was the fact the room was small compared to what I stay in over at CR. That was my main disappointment. The service was spot on, however, I do prefer how the staff greets us over at CR after we come back to the resort.

Again, nothing that I would consider complaints - mousekeeping was fine, private dining was fine.

Also, they are working on the outside of SL building, so the painters were annoying. I am glad they weren't working outside of our room while we were there!!

And thank you to everyone for all of your helpful info!! It did make our stay a good one.

Mary

I confess.
I became a total GF addict.:lmao:

We had the most wonderful stay you could wish fore. Not a spot on a blanc sheet.
Now I understand your enthusiasm.

Meanwhile I'm feeding my piggy bank for the next stay.:thumbsup2

I'm so glad you had wonderful stay.:wizard: Can you tell us more? What building were you in, anything new in the shops, did you try the restaurants? :surfweb:

Decided to load up and do half the drive today so we should arrive by noon tomorrow. I've got butterflies I'm so excited!!!!
Love being able to read the board from my iPhone too to pass the time!!

Have an absolutely grand vacation. :woohoo:

Please come back and let us know about it.

Mary, well at least you now know that the GF is not your favorite. I'm glad it was still a good trip. Did you try any of the restaurants?

I am booking them day by day online which is a pain, BUT from what I am hearing from the UK section no one over here is getting anwhere with the system.

Had to rebook my vacation from July to August due to serious family illness. Does anyone know if GF will still have the movies on the beach in mid-August?

We didn't try any of the restaurants except for 1900 PF, which was ok. It didn't seem quite as good as a few years ago when we went and it was the mice instead of the stepmother and the stepsisters. The GF Cafe was always very busy during meal times.

Private dining was great. I had ordered the chocolate mickey and strawberries for Father's Day and it was perfect and delivered as requested on Father's Day.

Also, Mickey Merchantile on the 2nd fl near the monorail entrance is closed for refurb.

Mary

Do you happen to know how long it's closed for and is their merchandice being sold somewhere else until it re-opens?

I don't know how long it's closed for and I didn't see another temporary location, unless I missed it. There's still Sandy Cove near the GF Cafe.

The Giant Mickey and Minnie are still in their windows, but there's signs up stating it's closed for refurbishment.

Thanks for the information and I guess when my family and I are at WDW this August when we visit the Grand Floridian we can find out if their merchandice is being sold somewhere else and how long it's closed for, if it has not re-opened by then.

That's interesting that the GF Cafe was always busy. Sometimes it can be rather quiet in our experience. I guess the secret may be out. ;)

Yours is the first report I've seen about Mickey Mercantile being closed fpr refurb. It will be fun to see any changes.

What a nice surprise for your DH....I'm glad private dining was perfect. :wizard:

Thanks for the reply.:goodvibes

Any information on this? Do we think it'll be reopened by August?:headache:

Of all the shops in the GF, this is the one that I would miss the least on a trip. Everything that I can think of in there can be purchased in any of the large stores in the parks as well as other resorts' stores. Anything specific to the GF is sold in Sandy Cove which Mary mentioned or the clothing stores for men and women. I wouldn't worry about this at all.

The Mickey Merchantile reopened on Sat., June 27, just as we were leaving after our grand week at Sugarloaf. Never saw it before so i can't say what changes were made.

Did you enjoy Sugar Loaf? We've had several lovely stays there.

suzcruz- Thanks for the update. Here are some pics I took last August of M. Mouse Mercantile :

I love the views from the shop :cutie:

If you remember - do the walls and carpeting still resemble this photo?

MommyGina - hope your vacation is great and that your family member makes a speedy recovery. I'm sure the movies will be offered in August. They are a relatively new offering and seem to be very popular :thumbsup2
