The All New Grand Floridian FAQ - MAY 2009

Hi, I booked my room only reservation through Disney directly.

Everytime I write the GF IPO I automatically get that response that somebody will contact me within 24 hours of sending my email. Depending on the content of my email or requests/comments/questions, I may get a response, I may not.

I actually called Dining to get an ADR at Cali Grill because I could not trust the GF to do it for me. They supposedly tried once, and they said no availability. I called dining that night and got one myself. I then sent the Confirm # to the IPO and asked them to add it to my itinerary and send me another one.

I have called once before to give them my credit card for ADR gaurantees and someone always picked up right away. When DH called, somebody picked up right away too. I also like to do all communications via email, and it is frustrating when you send an email and you do not get a response back.

Sadly, we sometimes have to take control of things and do it ourselves if we want it done right. Good luck to all in your planning!

maybe that is why I have never gotten that form, I always book through a TA or AAA?

and as others have said I always e mail them, get the automated response, then am contacted in a day or so.

We have stayed CL at the GF many times over the years and I have to say have had very good overall experience with their IPO...:confused3 but if there was an ADR that I really wanted and hadnt heard back I would take the same approach and just book it myself to be on the safe side as they say!

I love seeing all the recent photos :cloud9: I'm really missing the GF and WDW these days

Heatherlynn444, I was happy to see sushi in your RPC pics - I've never seen that at the GF.

I must say I don't care for the new lounge chairs but I guess they went with the burgundy to try and hide any stains or mildew... Hopefully they're comfortable!

For those of you headed to the GF soon, have a great time! :cutie:

jkstewart We fit not one but two pack and plays in that area out side of the bathroom...we did not hang anything up because that area is not near any windows and is pretty dark....

Were those p n' p side by side or lengthwise down the wall across from the sink?

The curtain is more for his mental adjustment. Whenever we travel we put him in an area where we "close him off". More like his room at home. He seems to do better like that.

Does anyone have a guestimate on how wide that space is?

My best guess would be 5.5/6 feet from the wall with the mirror (over the sinks) to the wall opposite it.
This was the best photo of that space that I could find (from allearsnet):

Good luck!

heatherlynn -- thank you for posting the wonderful photos! I'm really enjoying them.:goodvibes

johnsonet -- nice to see you around here again! :wave2:

About the IPO -- if you aren't getting an email response (other than the automated one that talks about a response within 24 hrs) I would suggest calling them. If the GF IPO office is too busy to handle the call, then it should roll over to any WDW IPO office and you should be able to get some help.

Personally, I haven't had any problems getting through to the GF IPO, but I will say that the service there really depends on who answers the phone.;)

For the past 3 months now I have been scanning DIS and allears and the rest of the web for blueprints, pictures anything I could get to help me with determining how big of a space that is. :scared1:

Pictures can be very misleading too. Sometimes they make a space look huge when it is tiny... or just the opposite.

My guess is that is can't be any wider than the length of a standard tub - so if I have an adjustable shower rod that should cover it... (no pun intended). :lmao:

But I thought I would ask the experts.... just in case! :thumbsup2

I had posted this question before I found this GF thread.

Is it true that GF charges a fee to receive a package from a guest? We were wanting to have some water delivered.

Thanks for all of your help!

I am sorry but I dont know how wide that the space is but I did fit the pack n plays side by side...it definitely made for close quarters but they fit and it was fine! When they were younger our kids slept much better in a seperate area as well (and since two rooms or a suite werent in the budget that space worked out well!):)

Oh! how I would LOVE a two bedroom suite!!!! Heaven... just Heaven!!!

Julia, you, DH and two toddlers, how 'bout this? When DH and I stayed in a Deluxe King RPC it was HUGE in the bathroom! I mean H U G E !!!! Alot bigger than the pics I'm seeing here!

I'll look for some pics! There are some on webshots of Deluxe King RPC!

HTH!

I haven't been on the thread for awhile - hi everyone!:hippie:

To answer your question, PixiePlanner, yes, all the WDW resorts have switched to using a parcel handling service and there are fees involved. A box up to 4 lbs. costs $3; a 5-20 lb. box is $5 and 21-70 lbs. is $10. At the GF, the service is located in the Convention Center.

Hi Minniesota :wave2: Nice to "see" you around!...:goodvibes

Hey BlueSkies! Your trip to the GF is coming up soon! Are you staying SL this trip? How many in your Grand gathering? I wish I had something on the docket - I miss the GF so much!!!!:cloud9:

I've looked and looked and can't seem to find it again, but I thought I had seen a link to a Grand Floridian Fan site on here somewhere. It had a lot of pics, building layouts, etc. If anyone knows what I'm referring to, could you repost the link? Thanks so much!
