these are the 'honeymoon rooms" and there are 2 types, one is a king room on the 2nd floor above gasparillas, and the second is one of 6 turret rooms, octogonal shaped rooms spread over the main building. difference is 2nd floor rooms have balconies, turrets dont, but turret rooms are HUGE and we were lucky enough to get an awesome MK view with ours! also the 2nd floor rooms have jacuzzi tubs.

Thank you, they sound wonderful.

My husband and I got a magical upgrade two years ago when we went down without the kids for our anniversary. We got upgraded to one of the turret rooms on the 4th floor. It was an octagon room that was amazing. It did not have a balcony but it faced the monorail and the volcano pool. It was incredible.
My husband and I go down each year alone for our anniversary and this by far was the most romantic trip. Last year we did Poly, which was nice but didnt compare at all to the Gf trip.

This year we are staying at GF again with the whole family in Nov. We wanted to do club level and really wanted to do RPC but Sugar loaf was $1400 less so we conceeded to Sugar loaf instead. Oh how I will miss the main building. Just the thoughts of sitting in the sitting area of our room, listening to the orchestra playing. Ah........:cloud9:

HI! I am considering trying the GF for My husband and I Weekend getwaway Jan 2011. We are running the half marathon for the 1st time and will be at Disney for about 4-5 nights. Last Nov. I booked bounceback for this year 2010 again at the Poly. However when My husband and I discussed the bounceback I had thought of the CR but he said no, however mentioned he would give GF a try sometime. So I thought maybe we could try it in Jan. Any specific building requests or advice you could give me would be appreciated:)

they are fab.I thought I would miss the balcony but it was January and a bit too chilly to sit on one anyway, and we LOVED having all that space!

That's good to hear, thank you.

I was a little nervous about booking as I did not have good service on my first (and only visit so far) but I'm putting that behind me as the GF is just so beautiful and hope things are better this time. :goodvibes

monorail girl - location requests are pretty subjective, it depends on what you are looking for and what room category you are booking. In general, if you would like to be near the themed pool and main building, Big Pine Key is a good choice. Bus stop and Gasparilla's? Sago Cay. If you would like to be near the courtyard pool and boat dock, Conch Key and Boca Chica are your best bet.

Good luck with your planning!:goodvibes

I am excited for you!!!! You will love it. I can't say enough about the GF. There are 4 CMs that work there that we have seen every year for the last 4 years. As soon as we see them, they drop everything and come over and hug us. Last year they were looking for my mother to be with us. They had tears in their eyes that she was not well enough to travel. Everyday they saw us, they asked how my mother was. You don't find too many places that remember your family from year to year or even have the respect to ask about them.

It is so fun to read this thread and keep the excitement going until your trip. That's what gets me through the long, dull winter here!

i am having a nice, relaxing weekend because it has been pouring rain, so i thought i'd take some time to post some pics from our trip!
these are mostly views from our balcony in room 4426, and a couple of the view of the lobby from the RPC lounge.

bethclayton - thanks for the photos, they were beautiful! There are a couple of ways to put an image in your post. One is to highlight the url for your photo, and when you hit 'reply', there is a small box above the box you type in that is yellow, with what looks like mountains with a sun; click that, and place the url in the bar that appears and hit OK. It should place the address in your text, with
at the end.

If that description is clear as mud, you can go to the tech support board, for the thread on posting photos. Here is a link to a photo posting thread:

You are super brave! We were there the same days you were, and never even took off our coats!

lol, i think you left right before us, and you're right, it was really chilly then! we arrived 3/1, and it was warm, then it was cold until about the 5th or 6th. the pic of my kids by the hammock was on the 8th, our last day, and it was sooooo warm, it was almost 80! :headache: of COURSE it was our last day! :sad2: funny, when we got home in PA it was the same temp as it has been for much of our vacation!

What beautiful photos - I'm getting more excited by the day ... only another 7 weeks to wait :yay:

Great photos bethclayton. Thanks for sharing! They are helping to pull me through until our trip in May. 61 more days! Woo Hoo!

Just seeing the pictures warms me up! It is a cold rainy Sunday here in CT. Only 128 more days until our trip.

Thank you for taking the time to post and share your photos!

Beautiful pictures! I have only 40 more days until we are at GF :cool1: I can not wait!

I've decided to take a day out from the parks and spend some time relaxing around the GF.

I have stayed at the GF (RPC) once before but did not really take in much of the resort, I was always too busy , this time (RPC again) I'm thinking about have a manicure and pedicure at the spa, taking the walk from the GF to the Poly, but would appreciate advice from the GF regulars at what not to miss around the GF itself (I'm not really a pool lounging person as I get bored).

Thanks

Glad you were able to figure it out, bethclayton, and thanks for all the great photos! Can't wait for our next visit to the Grand.:cloud9:

We'll be there in about 6 months. After seeing your pictures, it just can't come soon enough. Thanks for posting them, BethClayton!
