I just wanted to share - I booked GF RPC for December 2010 as a surprise for my mom. We had such a tough trip last Christmas when all of us came down with a terrible virus. This is a make up trip so I am splurging! I'm going to be on this thread a bunch to keep updated on the latest news. YAY!

How exciting. That is a great splurge. Welcome to the thread. :grouphug: It's a great place to share our love of the GF.:cloud9:

We were easily able to see the parade from our lagoon view room in the main building which was pretty much right over Commander Mickey's.

Do you think you may have viewed the presentation centered in front of the Polynesian? When it's there, it stretches pretty much all the way to the GF but from your room would have been oriented from front to back. When it's in front of the GF, it goes from right to left.....if that makes sense.:rotfl:

TheDISneyFamily - thanks for posting the lovely photos!

Hey to BlueSkies and BCV23, and anyone else out there who said "hi" - I didn't read through all the posts, sorry. :wave2: I've been trying to stay off the boards for a while, so I don't feel compelled to book another trip.

I hear ya k&a&c's mom! I've been pretty good lately, but I still get GF FAQ email updates and sometimes I just can't help myself.

Having two trips booked - none for the GF though... :( has helped me be "good." But all these gorgeous floor photos have me thinkin about next fall.....

Hey folks!

Does anybody know offhand the price for getting an oil painting (or is it charcoal?) done of yourself? I'm thinking of getting one done of me and my DD during our Christmas stay at the GF next year. We've gone to Disney so many times that instead of buying regular souvies we're getting stuff like *this*. :lmao:

Oh, BCV23, not bringing DD's cousins on this trip. That one I took them to the Poly in Aug2007 was a one-shot deal. Mainly did it to fulfill a wish my late mother had that all of her grandchildren would have an unforgettable and magical trip to Disney. They know not to even *hint* at me taking them to Disney--their mother will have to do that from now on. :lmao:

TheDISneyFamily, thanks so much for posting the photos of the tiles! Am loving the Tinker Bell tilework the best.:thumbsup2

What a great gift! I'm booked for December 2010 as well so maybe I'll see you!

I was wondering about transportation at the GF.

Do you prefer the boat or monorail to/from the Magic Kingdom?

Also, I read on the boards where someone suggested walking home from the MK to the Contemporary and then catching the GF monorail from the Contemporary (that it could be faster after fireworks). That seems far when there is a direct boat and monorail, but I just wanted to check your opinions.

Thanks so much! All the pictures of the GF are great!

I thought the boat from the MK to the GF was very quick. You are the first stop, and then it travels to the Poly.

The monorail from GF to MK is also super fast.

Enjoy!

Hi all!! Just got back late last night from a wonderfull stay at the GF. It was sooo beautiful and the weather was amazing. It was very windy but no humidity temps around 80 and 62 at night. We stayed in the Sago Cay building. and it was perfect for us. We saw the wishes every night from Gaspirillas. Perfect view. The only negative was I did some laundry and my clothes stunk horribly after washing them. I don't know if it was the water or a problem with the dryer.

I was sooo worried about the construction going on but I didn't need to worry one bit. I saw somehigh reach (cranes) machines but I hardly noticed them at all. Also some tile working goin on but I heard no noise whatsoever. So to me it was a non issue. I did see them starting to put up the ginger bread house. i wish i was there longer to see it done :(

So Monorail to MK and boat on return. Do the boats continue to operate at night?

Still feeling the excitement here!!

Thanks. We stayed one night at RPC before we moved over to the BCV and as much as I love my home resort, I admit I really hated to leave the GF. We loved the beautiful music in the evening - it just felt so Christmasy. I think a whole week there will be just amazing.

Anybody know what the gym is like at the GF? I am in week 6 of P90X and I don't want to stop just for vacation (Finally have a six pack and not the kind I drink)! My plan is to go when my son naps from 2-4

I haven't been to the health club but plan to in January! I've been to the spa, however...:thumbsup2

Here is a photo posted by johnsonet on an earlier thread. Maybe she'll stop by and answer any questions you may have. What is P9OX?

It's a workout system that you may have seen on an infomercial. Surprisingly, it is super effective and I am in the best shape of my life. This is coming from a guy who does at least one triathlon a year for the past 5 years.

Why dont you just bring the dvds with you and buy the portable weight bands they sell on beachbody..they have dvd players in the room

or if you time it perfectly you could be on the recovery week where you do yoga, cardio that does not need the weights.

another idea would be to download the workout dvds to your ipod or iphone and do the workouts in the gym

I have it on my iphone but the bands don't supply enough resistance. I need heavy dumbells (50lbs+) plus the pull up bar for most days.

So we made the plunge and are new owners of BLT... :cool1:

hopefully we will be able to spluge for a night of two cash to visit the GF again.

BCV - I think the GF DCV rumors are happening alot because of the land use plans. There is a large amount of land to be developed directly by the GF and it is slated for resort.

So with the DVC purchase we had to downgrade our room TPV to GV. Now which building should I request again ?

Leanne Congratulations!!! :dance3: My aunt just stayed at BLT and loved it!!!

My personal GV favorite is Boca Chica...I love that it faces the main building and the courtyard pool...the view is just lovely and especially so at night when everything is all lit up...Also it is pretty close to the dock making it very convenient if you like to use the launches......Many people like Big Pine Key also it is close to the main building and kind of between both pools...

I am sure you will enjoy whatever building that you choose...the GF is such a nice resort!!!:)

We, too, normally take the monorail to the MK and love taking the launch back. We don't always do that though as our daughter uses a power chair and those can't go on the launches without taking it apart. Strollers need to be folded as well. Just a heads up.

Glad you had a wonderful trip. Strange about the laundry situation. Glad to hear about the Gingerbread house and that the construction didn't affect you. Where was the floor work when you were there?

Normally, the boats do run until closing. I know of at least one night when they weren't operating though.
