Just 3 more days, and a college friend and I will be checking into the Grand Floridian! First stay there for both of us. This is a girls trip to celebrate turning 50 with Mickey. So, so excited!

Sounds like the perfect way to celebrate. Have fun! :goodvibes

Just a good word here for IPO. We're staying Sugar Loaf from 12/19-12/28, and they emailed me this morning at 6:30 a.m. with my dining reservations!

There were two errors, which they promptly fixed--and we got everything (including Le Cellier for the CP package third show on 12/23) within a few minutes of my requested times. We're a party of 5, and we had no problems at all with anything.

This is my first time staying club level, and I have to say that I'm starting to get spoiled. It's nice not to have to sit on hold forever waiting for the dining CMs...

:thumbsup2 That's awesome!!!

I like how the IPO office makes me feel spoiled even before our trip starts! It's a big reason for us to choose CL rooms and pay that extra $$$!;)

Hello,
I'm thinking of booking GF for our December Anniversary trip. Just found out they have theme park rooms left this morning :). Which building is best for a Magic Kingdom View?? We usually stay at Poly or WL for deluxe but they are sold out already. I'm sure we will love GF though.

Thanks,
Nichole

Does anyone know if there is a specific room section they will put conference attendees? I will be there in Dec for a conference (at an amazing rate of $275 during holiday season!).

DD12 is coming with me to spend some mother / daughter time. My conference obligation will be limited to morning hours only, so that leaves time for fun. It will be our first time at GF and we're looking forward to some relaxation. We'll hit the parks a little bit, but looking forward to experiencing what the resort has to offer and staying low key.

hello everyone...only 1 more year and ill be staying here for a few nights for my honeymoon :cloud9: and because its a year out i just checked my ressie online ( i get nervous that because i booked so early its going to disappear or something! :lmao:) im confused about it though....i booked a theme park view...and when i first got it online it said theme park view....now when i check it, it says one bedroom villa? Could anyone be so kind as to tell me why its changed? i mean i know sometimes when it gets close they change people around for various reasons (upgrade fairies, construction close-offs :rolleyes1 ) but im a year away? im assuming its just a glitch in the system and when i go to check it 6 weeks from now it will be back to normal...but i was just wondering....

EDIT....i guess i should have read every post the past 3 pages because it looks like someone else with theme park view is getting the same message? ODD must be a glitch or are they restructuring the rooms without notifying people lolol

Well My dad, mom, and I are leaving in 4 days to Disney and are staying at the GF! And I have to ask this before I forget, don't you have to go through the MK parking lot gate? How does that process work? I hope we don't have to pay when we just need to go to our resort :confused3

You just tell them at the booth that you are checking in at the GF and they will direct you. You don't pay any fee. When you get to the resort and check in, they will give you a parking pass for your car, so you should never have to pay a fee going through the gate.

Thank you for clearing things up, I was slightly confused Lol

I got to the GF on monday, I love it. I am in a dormer room in building 9 Big key? I can see the fireworks from my balcony its definately worth staying there the room is beautiful and the work in the main building is no problem. Mind you I did what I had hoped not to I forgot my watch and now have disney watch number 4.

Paula Sounds like you are really enjoing your stay at the GF!!! There is something special about watching the fireworks from your room...

And a new disney watch...how nice!! No frivilous shopping...you needed it!

Enjoy the rest of your trip!!:flower3:

Hi Blue!:hippie: Any trips planned? I'm heading to the GF in January!:banana:Can't wait!

Paula - Have a grand trip! Nothing like spending time at the GF!

Been a while since I've been following this thread closely...
Would you be so kind as to tell me the current situation with ordering specific dishes from the GF restaurant menus when ordering from room service.
I remember reading on the prior thread that this could be done.
We are staying RPC if it matters.
Thanks.

Although we have always previously relied on the Disney bus system I was wondering about other options. This is our first stay at the GF. How easy is it to get a taxi from the GF? How long does it take and how much does it cost to get to the parks, etc? (e.g., AK, DHS, DTD)

thanks for the help

It's very easy to get a taxi at the GF - we have done it many times to get to DHS and AK. There are often taxis waiting at the front doors or you can call Valet from the room and ask them to have one ready for you. There are regular taxis and van-style taxis available though I'd call ahead for the van style. Seems to me costs were around $18 to AK and $14 to DHS.

One of the best things we did on our last trip...we were watching Illuminations from the World Showcase on the bridge near the International Gateway. Rather than deal with crowds and that long hike back to the entrance of Future World, we slipped out the IG turnstiles and strolled to the Beach Club front doors where taxis were waiting. A quick ride back to the GF!

We will be staying at GF for the first time this December for our first Adults Only trip. We are thinking of checking out Jelly Rolls one night,b ut not sure about how to get to and from there. We are relying on Dis transportation. Does anyone know how we could do this? I know there normally aren't any buses that run from resort to resort but I heard somewhere that Jelly Rolls is an exception and that there is a shuttle to take you to your resort. Can anyone confirm this?
