The all new extension to Tagliarchy Island.

May I be the first to jump up and down and scream HOORAY VBS is over. Now I can come home to our new place and relax. It was such a crazy week. We only had 168 kids but it was really hard trying to keep up with records, money etc. But I did have a fun week, just exhausting. Plus after all day of VBS I come home to three bored teens who want to do something fun-which means I have to drive them Somewhere. please throw me a pity party!! heheheh

Ok so what have I missed?? My skimmingbuddytalkischeap have you seen my name anywhere? I reckon I'll go and try and catch up on the pages I missed. Is iluvtink and cadburysmom back yet? Is see our MonorailDudeis off on a trip. have fun if you read before you go.

From Motley Fool
I'm referring to Episode 217. What? That's not enough information? Well, here's a quick summary of the key plotlines:

-- A big coffee chain ("Harbucks") is moving into town and threatening to drive the local mom and pop shop out of business. (Ironically, it's eventually revealed that Harbucks coffee is actually much better than the local brew.)

-- A teacher assigns a current events report to the kids who are the main characters. The boys end up deciding to write their report on the underpants gnomes that one of them has spied stealing underwear from his dresser.

(Still with me? Good.)

The part that I loved about this episode was when the boys followed the gnomes to their cave, and started asking questions about how such a business is run. I found what seems to be a transcript of the episode, and here's the snippet I'd like to draw your attention to:

[In the gnome's cave]
Gnome 1: This is where all our work is done.
Kyle: So what are you gonna do with all these underpants you steal?
Gnome 1: Collecting underpants is just phase one. Phase one: collect underpants.
Kyle: So what's phase two?
[Silence]
Gnome 1: Hey, what's phase two?!
Gnome 2: Phase one: we collect underpants.
Gnome 1: Ya, ya, ya. But what about phase two?
[Silence]
Gnome 2: Well, phase three is profit. Get it?
Stan: I don't get it.
Gnome 2: (Goes over to a chart on the wall) You see, Phase one: collect underpants, phase two-
[Silence]
Gnome 2: Phase three: profit.
Cartman: Oh I get it.
Stan: No you don't.
Kyle: Do you guys know anything about corporations?
Gnome 2: You bet we do.
Gnome 1: Us gnomes are geniuses at corporations.

{GROUP-OF-GNOMES}:

"Time to go to work, work all night.
Search for underpants kaayy.
We won't stop untill we have underpants,
Yum-tum-yummy-tum-tay."

I know that you don't drive;) ---you are going to be about 650 miles south of us and Cadburysmom. NC Beast and I drove back in May/June while Cadburysmom and her son flew on the same days. But, NC Beast and I had an awesome cooler and went outlet shopping on the way home. We like driving and checking out places along the way.

Just skimmed the last ten or so pages. :earseek: I heard there was some action over here and had to see for myself.

No one asked me for my opinion, but oh well, here goes:

I think a lot of the problem is that there are so many people in the TAGLIARCHY. Now, I'm all for "the more, the merrier", but it does make for lots of reading and skimming and misunderstandings. There definitely are all different kinds of people here with different interests.

Back in June, I thought that the "Island" was getting a bit stale. I mentioned starting a new thread (to churn up the old imaginations and get the conversation rolling again), and no one objected, so I started the July Nova Scotia vacation thread. Maybe that was too forward of me, because not everyone came over. :(

I know that I, in the past, have wondered if maybe this person or that person doesn't care for me, and I think that's happening to quite a few people. Things like posting "such and such, I'm sending you a PM" during a TAG feud is probably not a good idea. One can't help but wonder if the PM is about them.

I also don't think it's a good idea to play moderator on threads. It comes off sounding bossy. If someone goes too over the top, let the DIS moderators correct them as no one TAGLIARCHAN owns any thread.

I see now that there a couple of new threads open, and I don't think that's such a bad idea. It certainly makes for easier reading IMHO.

In any event, these are just some of my thoughts. Just wanted to let you all know that I'm not mad at anyone.

Sorry--I thought I was bit ditzy in the o.p. I knew what you meant. My folks used to take my sister and me on long drives---to my Dad's folks in AL (not to far where Oddball's family lives) and to near where Bichon Barb lives. I grew up in Maryland--about 45 minutes away on a good day from DC and over an hour from Baltimore.
