It's not that the beds "face" the balcony. All of the beds have headboards along a "side" wall. But since the Contemporary is at a angle to the castle, the placement of the headboard along the side wall in the odd numbered rooms allows you to lay in bed and see towards the castle. Laying in bed in the even numbered rooms has you seeing out over Seven Seas Lagoon.

Hope that helps.
I couldn't have explained that any better because it was spot on.

We stayed on the other side of the same floor and there wasn't much difference as far as noise goes. After about a week of hearing 'Celebrate! Celebrate! Celebrate!' right at 7am every morning, you're ready for a bit of a break.:rotfl:
I would rather here the celebrate song from Chef Mickey's as a wake up call and not the one with Stitch.

My dad just told me someone he worked with asked him today when are we going to Florida? He tells him this Saturday and then tells my dad if we weren't he had two tickets for this Saturday's Maple Leafs/Capitals game because he can not go. While I would never pass up the chance to see a Hockey game this is the one exception because I would rather be at WDW.

I will take the tickets and call in sick for work, ;) lol

Well were both checking in on the same day, so maybe it's a good chance we will run into each other. Also I will be wearing my blue Toronto Maple Leafs hat and my lanyard of WDW pins, so that's how you will know it's me.

As for your question if it's really important to have the odd-numbered room I would call and request it, but even if you don't end up with it at least you still have the Magic Kingdom View.

Go ahead and request it as the room assigner doesn't assign your room until about 3 days prior to your arrival.

Thanks to you both for the tips! I called and made my request today.:cool1:

Also Toronto gave up their 1st round pick to Boston in the Phil Kessel trade, so we don't have a chance at getting Taylor Hall vs Tyler Seguin.

Yeesh, forgot that detail...my apologies. Not to worry, though, with Burke at the helm the bad times won't last long! Unlike down here with your old buddy Paul Maurice.

And thanks for knocking off the Thrashers tonight. :thumbsup2

I shouldn't talk, being lucky enough to be able to have season tickets, but I'll be missing my first home game since before the lock-out for this Disney trip. Just couldn't coordinate work with the schedule this season and had to fit one more vacation in. Although, watching the Canes threaten to blow another lead to the Pens tonight, it's hard to feel too bad about it. ;)

Well when I am away I downloaded Maple Leafs Mobile to my BlackBerry which gives me up to date scores of each of their games, so I won't be wondering what's happening if I am not in front of a TV.

Home and recovering from our trip... we loved our stay at CR, it seems as if the concierge has improved their service, and that was nice. Two minor issues - key cards and suite Christmas tree. Anyone who stays concierge must put their room card into the elevator in order to get up to their respective floor... there was something going on with 2 elevators that wouldnt read anyone's card.. but I still had to go down to the first floor and have my cards remade 3 times during our stay because they seemed to demagnitize (but I never keep my cards near any other credit card or cell). I've never encountered any problems in all the years I've stayed on property like I did last week with room/park key cards. I even had a few times where I had trouble getting into the parks and the CM had to do something to get me and my contrary card thru the turnstill.

Another minor issue was that the staff didn't bring the Christmas tree into our room until the end of our stay. Very pretty but last year we had a tree in our room for the whole stay. Just would've liked to have enjoyed it a bit more.

Again, these are minor issues and overall I felt the CR had improved on its service. We had a wonderful magical stay, and I encourage everyone to try CR at least once. We are booked for next year's trip already and of course we're staying at CR. :goodvibes:

Thanks for the report Mary! We got a nice deal on concierge level rooms and just today booked one for the first time for next November. Anniversary trip coming up next week...can't wait to walk into that special lobby! :goodvibes

Thanks for the trip report and I think there is a solution if the cards don't work in the elevator. This past August sometimes the 12th floor would not light up in one of the elevators, however we were told by a Club Level Cast Members when that happens after instering the card then press the button for either the 12th or 14th floor. Well after trying that it worked, so maybe the problems are not always with the cards.

Oh what a magical day I have had! First, I logged onto disneystore.com and did my daily search for the Contemporary monorail playset add on, and for the first time in almost six months, they had it! It will be here in time for Christmas, and I couldn't be more excited!

Then, I got home from work 15 mins ago and found an email from Disney Destinations...my heart pounded, I opened it up, and found the 40% off pin code! :cool1: I am waiting to hear from my travel agent to see if I can use it on my upcoming February trip. In the meantime, I am pondering upgrading to BLT and getting a one bedroom villa. I would really love that whirlpool and more cooking options while we're there. I know a few of you on here have stayed at both. For a mom and a four year old, which one would be better? Does either one have a better view of castle/fireworks than the other, or are they the same? BLT has a zero entry pool right? How long does it take to walk from the BLT to get to the monorail and the Contempo Cafe? Do you feel like you miss out not having the monorail running through? Anything else you can think of? Any advice you can offer would be great! Also, do you get housekeeping at BLT? TIA in advance, let's hope I can use this discount :goodvibes

Congragulations and to answer your question I would assume the walk along the skybridge to Bay Lake Tower is not long, so maybe 1 minute or something based on how it looks. Of course you might also take into account waiting for the elevator from whatever floor your on in Bay Lake Tower, which you need to take to their 5th floor so you can get to the skybridge. As for not actually staying in the Contemporary Tower you won't need to deal with any of the noise from Chef Mickey's and etc, because there are no restaurants and etc in Bay Lake Tower. Finally from the pictures I have seen both Magic Kingdom View's look the same, so there is really no difference between them.

Thanks CRRF4L! I have been looking at some youtube videos and the skybridge doesn't look that long. Do you know if there's a thread dedicated to BLT? I can't seem to find one? :confused3

You're welcome and if you want some threads just on Bay Lake Tower, I would look on the various DVC boards because I am sure they have some.

You're welcome and we are 4 days away until we leave. We have not packed yet, however we are going to start doing that either tonight or tomorrow.

i see its 84 degrees in orlando today. bring some heat with you north on your trip home. have a good time!! (dont forget the sun block):thumbsup2

I had asked a question on another thread about what people typically eat for breakfast foods in their room, and one poster mentioned that at the WL, she requested a toaster and got one! Has anyone heard of this at the CR? Would you note this on your reservation?

We are leaving tomorrow at 11:30AM and the East expects bad weather. We are flying from Newark NJ. We are not checking into the Contemporary until Sunday 12/13. We have a convention at the Regal Sun before that.

There is a BLT thread, but its not very active so most of the question come back to this thread... so i guess besides a general post, we are your best bet! :rotfl2:
