ohhhhhh!!!!!.......is it worth it to eat at Cali Grill just to see wishes from up at the top. or should be just watch it from the 4th floor?

opinions?

dh loves fireworks so that was the only reason we were going to eat at CaliGrill was to see the fireworks from up there.

personally, i would be happy watching them from the ground outside...which may not be a bad idea either :confused3

i'm sure we'll watch them from main street at least once but i thought it would be nice to watch them from Contemporary the rest of the time as one of the benefits of lodging at Contemp.

oh, and the EWP.....is that always going past Contemp at 10:05, no matter what time of the year?
Well your actually paying for the privilege of watching Wishes from the California Grill, because you need to have an ADR to do that. So is it worth it to pay the cost for a meal at the California Grill when you can watch them for free on the 4th floor observation deck? Also the schedule for the EWP is the same all year round.

The parade goes on both sides, so that means you will get to see it from your Bay Lake View.

The EWP goes by the CR on both sides? So can you see it from a MK view Tower Room? If you can't see it from your MK view room, is there somewhere else in the tower you can see it without having to go down to the dock area?

Also, I just started reading this whole thread from the beginning (I think I'm only on page 5), and I've seen a few posts about requesting a room the opposite end of Chef Mickey's...Is this really necessary? What are the benefits of this? I have already requested 11th floor odd numbered room and it is noted on my ressie. Just wondering if it would also be beneficial to add the Chef Mickey's info as well?

Yes you can see the EWP from any Magic Kingdom View while it's in Seven Seas Lagoon without any problems.

As for requesting a room away from Chef Mickey's I would only do that if you think the music from there might be a problem. Personally my family and I don't find it bad at all, however others might not like it.

THanks CRRF4L! So you can see the EWP when it's in front of the Poly (but I assume can't hear it???). So if you wanted to hear the EWP as well, you'd have to go down to the beach/dock area?

Thanks for the clarification on Chef Mickey's...I added it to my ressie just in case! :thumbsup2 I'm sure as I keep reading, I'll have plenty more questions before our trip. DD and I are just so excited. I am really excited to try a new hotel, I think that is half the fun of vacation is experiencing new things.

Now that there will be a boat service over to Fort Wilderness, I was curious about the Chip N Dale singalong campfire. Has anyone gone across to do this? My DD wanted to meet them so badly in April and everytime we got to the line, they were taking their break or leaving for the day etc. Thought this might be a fun little venture across the Bay to try something new. Also, since CR will no longer have a playground, wondering if we can use the one over at FW if there is one? How often do those boats come and go?

You're welcome and yes when the EWP goes in front of the Polynesian you should be able to see it, however I doubt you will be able to hear it. Anyway when you have more questions feel free to post them and if I don't answer them, I am sure some of the other Contemporary fans on here will be able to help you. Finally the boat which goes to the Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness runs from 6:45 AM - 11:30 PM and I don't see your daughter having any problems using the playground at Fort Wilderness.

Also, since CR will no longer have a playground,

:scared1: i thought all the resorts had playgrounds. :confused3

what are some other easily accesible playgrounds near CR?

so there is a boat that goes from CR to Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness that runs from 6:45 AM - 11:30 PM ?

is this the same boat that goes to GF, Poly, and MK or a different one?

Yes there is a boat that goes from the Contemporary to the Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness, from 6:45 AM - 11:30 PM, with a blue flag attached to it. Also that boat is different then the one from the Polynesian and Grand Floridian which goes to the Magic Kingdom.

is there a boat that goes from CR to GF, Poly, or MK...or is the monorail the only way to get to those places?
When going to the Polynesian and Grand Floridian your only option is the Resort Monorail. When going to the Magic Kingdom you can either use the Resort Monorail or the walkway to the Magic Kingdom. Personally I find walking to the a lot faster because the Resort Monorail will stop at the TTC, Polynesian and Grand Floridian before arriving at the Magic Kingdom.

Poly and GF are on Seven Seas Lagoon, not Bay Lake like CR. So I don't not believe there is a boat for them. Monorail would be much quicker anyway. There is a boat in Bay Lake that goes to MK, however I'm not sure if it stops at CR

Someone asked about internet:
Wireless internet is provided by a different company than the wired (in-room) internet. We tried the wireless, because it was supposed to be available in the tower and at the pool. We had a Garden Wing room, but went to the tower, ground floor and 4th floor and the wireless connection was just horrible. Tried by the pool, too, without luck. So DH ended up using the wired internet using the cord provided in the room. You have to pay each 24 hr period. So if you get it at 4pm on day1, you can use until 3:59 on day 2. Thus, only paying ($9.95?? I can't remember) every other day.

Thanks for the info - just what I was looking for :)

I am really gonna try so hard to not bring so much clothes this time, so I plan on one am of laundry time.

Me too but I'm not really into my own doing laundry while on holiday, so I'm wondering if there is a laundry collection/delivery service from the room? I always use this service at hotels when travelling on business and I am pretty sure it must be offered at the CR - I just can't find it documented anywhere.

34 days till the Atrium Club  I'm so excited I think I'm gonna burst! Can't pretend this trip is “really only for the kids” any longer :rotfl:

How lucky for you 34 days. That's so exciting. I found this on the WDW CR website and hope this helps you out.
Laundry Facilities/Services

A laundry room can be found on the second floor of the South Garden Wing.
Dry cleaning and laundry services are available daily for an additional fee. For same day service, laundry will be picked up from your room.

I try not to pack too many clothes but it never works out and like you I really don't want to do laundry while on vacation either. So this is the information that I was searching for as well.

CR Resort Fan you most likely would be able to answer this question for me. From the CL (12th) floor can you hear the hustle and bustle from the 4th floor or is it closed in? I hope that makes sense.

As far as hearing the hustle and bustle, if you are outside of your room and looking down to the fourth floor, you can hear some on the noise going on. I've never heard any of that once inside the room.

We were just there in June, and are booked again for December. I'm spoiled now with the Atrium Club. We ate breakfast there every morning. The boys would just come down in what they slept in the night before. I would already be there being the early riser, drinking my coffee and reading a paper.

My favorite had to be at night, with Wishes piped in and a drink in my hand, no crowd, I just don't know if I can not do the Atrium club now, lol.

When it comes to hearing things from the 12th floor I can say that while in the lounge I kind of heard the music that's being played at Chef Mickey's every half hour, although it wasn't that loud. Besides that if you have a room over Chef Mickey's some people don't mind it and others don't like it. Finally when it comes to hearing things like the Monorail and all the other people walking around, those are not going to be a noise problem.

OMG the music is piped into the lounge.:cloud9: The more and more I hear the more and more I am getting super excited about staying CL. Our trip in July 2010 is a gift to our DS13 for his 8th grade graduation. CR is the resort that he picked. I don't know if I am going to be able to contain myself until next July.

When checking in, does a CM meet you outside or do you have to go inside to the front desk? A CM has always greeted us outside at the bell stand at the GF and the YC. I was just wondering if it was the same at CR. TIA:flower3:

Thanks CR. I don't think the music will be a problem for us. My DH was just wondering if the sound traveled up that far.
